    Why in any BJJ club I went to, people just can’t properly tie their belts. As a judoka it bothers me. I mean even black belt professors can’t tie their belts. Once I saw a happy professor who managed to make diamond knot but his belt was crossed at the back and one of the edges was sticking from the wrong side. I think he even posted a tutorial on TH-cam how to tie a belt 😂

    • @CaptChilly
      @CaptChilly 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think there's some kind of advantage if your belt falls off during a roll, so a lot of BJJ guys will tie their belt in a way that will facilitate it falling off easier in competition

      @@CaptChilly Kinda correct - when you are stood up for one reason or another, you have 15-20s in competition to tie your belt, which is valuable resting/breathing time. That's why a lot of them loose the belts a little.

      They let them up because of strategic reasons. Using energy to attack unsuccessfully in newaza is a bad game plan. This is a great explanation. I feel like a lot of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners try to hit this (myself included) but with little explanation of how and why it works. Sometimes I count on people leaving space so I can attack a single leg, especially if I happen to have the under hook like the uke in this demo. But it's not likely that the leg will remain accessible on an actual judo player.

      It's an orange belt technique, so it's pretty much in the beginning as every yellow belt have to learn it. For a throw, it's not very difficult, but sure it's harder than a foot tech. like O-soto-gari. I think the slight difficulty (and the video didn't explain it a lot) is what to do with your thight when dropping the opponent. Sometimes it requires to hop on one leg a couple of times before dropping ;) Have a great day !!

    • @TheNEOverse
      @TheNEOverse หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jylbo Orange belt is at the end of beginner, but so is stuff like Harai Goshi and other complicated throws. O-soto Gari is very straight forward, nothing complex about it at all. • @FredThomas-x8v
      @FredThomas-x8v หลายเดือนก่อน

      it's hane goshi because the rotation and throw is lateral. To do uchimata you need to hit with your outside glute muscles turning more in a forward direction like if you forward break fall. Besides ken ken is not a mistake but different strategy with less grip fight, it's more efficient that normal uchimata because you don't need to solve the distance problem. You can become world champion with only ken ken. Last point when you learn uchimata use normal lapel grip with your forearm & elbow in contact with your opponent & own side like a solid block without gap like explained in the video. The advantage of learning with lapel is that you can switch faster to rear/opposite side throw

    • @juschanno
      @juschanno หลายเดือนก่อน

      The fundamental difference you have to be able to understand between uchimata and hane-goshi is that uchimata lifts with lean of the body forwards where as hane-goshi lifts with a "spring" directly upwards... hence the name "springing hip throw"

    • @juschanno
      @juschanno หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FredThomas-x8vI disagree that Ken Ken is more efficient than a traditional uchimata. My fighters win percentage with this uchimata on the national circuit says so and so does the percentage of "traditonal" vs. Ken Ken uchimatas you see on the world tour. I am showing my favourite grip for uchimata here. And I also begin with a deep grip down the middle of the back (which is actually advised against in shiai) because I am trying to start the student off with understanding the feeling of being tight so you can lift your partner with counter-balance - minimum effort and maximum efficiency (I know you like what I did there). ;) As that feeling becomes natural, then we switch back to a lapel grip and work on maintaining the tsuri-te.
