Hoh River to Third Beach solo backpack
A moderate, sometimes strenuous, three- or four-day, 20-mile backpack along one of the last remaining untouched coastlines in the U.S., Olympic National Park. This is a one-way hike, so you’ll need to arrange transportation by either doing a car shuttle (one car at each end of the route) or leave a car at the end and hire a shuttle to take you to the beginning. Note that bear cans are required for camping in this section.
Hoh River Rainforest video: th-cam.com/video/QU4pLlPDx9U/w-d-xo.html
Directions:
If you’re doing a car shuttle, first plug into your map app, “Third Beach Trailhead,” which will take you to a small parking lot off La Push Road. Leave one car there and then ask your map app for directions to “Oil City,” which takes you to the end of Oil City Road and the trailhead. If you have one car, another alternative is to hire a shuttle to take you from the Third Beach trailhead to Oil City. I used Olympic Hiking Co. Here’s the link: www.hikeolympic.com/. (hikeolympic.com) The 2024 fee is $79.50 per person. If you’re hiking solo and you’re the only one on the shuttle (hardly likely during the summer), they charge double.

Did you need a state park pass ?

We parked without one at the Eaton Canyon Nature Center. You also don't need one if you park on the street nearby.

Great overview. It's the only trail I've ever hiked where we passed through a playground nearly every day. Who doesn't love swings and slides during your lunch breaks?!

I hadn't thought about that, but you're right.

Great video. we had a wet year, do you expect the creeks to have water in august and September of this year?

Thanks. My experience is most of the creeks in the Santa Monica Mountains are trickles or just plain dry by the end of the summer.

I love your videos! So informative, and entertaining to watch. And those B roll shots! Loved doing the TCT myself a couple of months ago although if I do it again, I'd like to do so via the route you took. Thanks again!

Yes, indeed, try the opposite direction. Why not? And I'm so glad you enjoy my videos. Thanks!
