Why isn't it plug and play? Configuring a device could be completely ruled out and bypassed if the plc was able to tell it what it was rather than the human error of selecting the right unit plus attachments. A little like inserting a usb and you see it's name and details come up. A definite gap in the market there! Also, troubleshooting is a completely random process. Our 16 plc suite at work has many faults that render the plc's useless. Address issues that no one can fix and stop mode that will never go into run mode. A master reset never works. What the hell does lower level component fault even mean? Bad system design from start to finish.
