I pulled the dash and cut a groove in the door shaft with a hacksaw blade and installed E-clips so the door could not pull out again

Thank ypu for the video i couldnt figure out why my truck only blows partially out the defrost and the ac vents at the same time. I took a mirror and flashlight and look up from the bottom and sure enought one in the flapper doors is just hanging there.Can the top part that has the flaper doors in it be replaced without completely taking the whole hvac unit out of the truck? All newer vehicles have a bux screw-in connection that is a little doorway on front and back for the exact purpose of pulling you out of ditch.

When installing the actuators don’t you have to be careful about their indexing? How did you do that?

In my honest opinion, it looks interesting, but very obsolete. Even the instructions looks like it was printed many decades ago. I think there are better options from Wera, Snap-On, Chapman, Hazet, Facom... For comparison, the maximum torque of 400 inch pounds is equal to 45,19nm. Wera Zyklop 8001 can withstand up to 65nm and Hazet 863HP can withstand 120nm, thats almost 3x more. Snap-On bits are expensive, but at least they are standardized and easier to get a replacement. Regarding these objections, it seems to be very high quality and unique.

Picked up a green 2" 3M roloc bristle disc last year and I'm in love with it. It takes crap, paint, rust, and mill scale off steel easily and several times more quickly than anything I've previously tried.

Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios: 90+ minute bus ride then an hour wait in line. I paid full price, over $600+ to swim with dolphins with my family of 5. They wouldn’t allow me within 200 yards to stand by and take pictures of my 6 year olds first time with dolphins because I didn’t want to get in the water. I do not recommend this place!

After watching your video, I'm sure the DeWalt product development department will ask you to return the knobs. With any luck, they will send you a set of all-metal ones. When dealing with tensioning screws I always use fiber-type washers.

As far as fixing just fallen blend doors, try accessing from underneath first. I just got done doing a heater core and while I had my bad one out there was access to the blend doors from under the dash, my foot/face flap had also fallen like yours. I was able to just move it back into place by hand. Nothing else required. I’m not sure how long it will last but it’s working for now.

Good review looks like junk, just wait a year they will all possibly be broken.

Is there any way to fix the flappers without taking the entire dashboard apart, or is it just a pain in the ass no matter which way you go about it?

Your video is awesome. I have my dash out and am struggling too much to get to the heater core and the evaporator coil. I saw the screws on the engine side of the fire wall and thought they might take the hole thing loose and started searching for a video showing how to do it. Your video is the only one that I found which shows it. Way to go.

is it possible to replace just the flappers without taking everything apart?

If there is a deep grove worn into the hub where the seal goes you can use an Escalade seal part #710568 that has a repair sleeve built in.

the ridged rolling miter stand is the best for $149.00 now its $249 but still a great stand .

I removed my whole dash and while I had it out I repaired the cracks and made my dash stronger and I also repaired the blend doors and made them seal a lot better because as old as these trucks are now the rubber around the blend doors are destroyed from the heat and if u repair them your dash will be throwing snow balls at u it just takes time and patients ….u can plastic weld your dash to repair the cracks then your dash won’t be rattling over every bump then get u a dash cover or a dash pad to help protect your dash from the heat/sun. I removed my HVAC without removing the evaporator and was able to replace the doors it just takes some time and patience
