liked your work bro great really enjoyed watching your vlog
r u a bottom or a top? love u btw great vid
Hey I don't know if you will reply as this video was upload a long time ago. In case you see my comment, why did you Choose CS as you major and why SBU specifically for CS?
Hi thanks for reaching outtt. I chose CS because I wanted to do something related to mathhh. I chose SBU because it was relatively cheap!
When is this explore internship open at Microsoft for 2024?
I’m looking forward to apply positions over there! Can you please tell me what entry levels are open there. Currently I’m pursuing my bachelor’s degree in business administration! Please guide me through this! When is this year internship opening up? Do u have to pay? And what about the job afterwards? Please help me! I’m desperately looking out for this!
Yoo I was in the same class as you (cse220 mitra?) He left though he was a good prof :(
Yupppp
Hey, I got accepted to Stony Brook (CS Undergrad) for fall 2024 , what can i expect here in terms of career, like how good is the brand value of Stony Brook CS ?
Hi! Thank you for your video. May ask you a question? My daughter has received an offer from SBU with the major AOI in Computer Science fall 2024. Is it not the same as the major in Computer Science? A bit confused with that because my daughter has applied to CS. We are now in a process of making the decision which university to choose. Thank you. P.S. I found your explanation about AOI in your answer to the other comment. So it looks like we applied as undecided, but we applied to CS. So strange.
Hi! thanks for reaching out! AOI in CS means that you have the qualifications to be in the major, but due to high demand, they are not able to offer a seat in the major completely, so they put you're daughter into CS Area Of Interest -- essentially you're in a middle ground: you're daughter is in CS and not in CS at the same time. This is already in a better position compared to undecided as your daughter just needs to complete a few courses to be guaranteed admission into the major rather than having a chance to get admitted. But a good chunk of people that I know that were AOI in CS were able to get into the major because their requirements were less strict than undecided majors. When deciding whether or not to commit , make sure to ask your daughter if she's ok with having to work for the major because if she fails or get's below the requirement, then the likely hood that she gets matriculated into the major is slim.
Hi! Thank you very much for the answer! We have several offers from other universities, so we are still thinking. Just one more question if it’s ok for you. If you had a chance to choose the university again would you choose the SBU? And thank you for sharing.
@@albinagareeva3501 Hi i'm about to graduate soon, so I'll give an honest review of the cs curriculum here. I personally would not choose to come here again. The CS courses offered here are a bit lackluster and many good professors only teach honors -- which is restricted to honors CS students. Another reason is the lack of good options. After taking the core courses, the elective options are disappointing as they're not always offered and the ones that are interesting are competitive with limited seats or they're being taught by professors that no one wants to be in a class in. This leaves me with classes that I personally don't want to take but I have to take it to graduate. The core classes, however, are genuinely good. Overall I think the SBU's CS curriculum is good for it's value and it will prepare you for the industry, but I should have went to another school like Georgia Tech which seems to attract more companies that SBU does not seem to do at all..
Hi! Thank you for the answer! I wish you good luck in your further future!

Hello! I'm not sure if you would answer me since it's been 2 years but I'm a junior that wants to go to Stony Brook for CS and I just want to ask if I need to know a lot about the subject beforehand and how good do my math grades have to be?
Hi! No knowledge is required! I came in with zero knowledge (zero knowledge in coding and computers in general)! However, getting into the major is the hard part as you'll need to demonstrate strong math skills. and of course having knowledge in CS is a plus!
nice vid, u should have given me a Seattle tour

Could you tell me your stats and ECs that got you into stony brook? Im a 10th grade who attends school in NYC and the school is called A School Without Walls and am gonna graduate early considering I went into 10th grade with half of the required credits to graduate in NYS so i will most likely graduate by the middle of 11th grade.I go to a school that doesn't do number grades but does narrative grades. I currently am taking chemistry, computer science, Spanish, psychology, and humanities. I've been told by my teachers that I am performing really well in my classes and in my narrative grades it says how I'm exceeding the expectations required. My extracurriculars are student government, Student Leadership Team, and am doing a passion project centered around community health but I haven't finished yet. I'm also doing a statewide competition called the envirothon where you compete for your knowledge of environmental science for this year. I'm also taking the 2 AP classes my school offers which is AP seminar and AP research and am trying to get a high score on both AP exams. My goal is to as well create my own club but I haven't finalized my plan and to take college now classes at bmcc or baruch and do really well in them to show I have academic potential considering my school doesn't do number grades. I'm also gonna do some internships involved with helping the community. I also recently did a medical school level course where I received an A. I'm trying to study hard for the SAT to try to get a high score to get an competitive edge. Do you think so far that I may have a decent chance at stony brook?
Sup I just got in to SBU. You sound competitive and given from the info you gave take some harder classes your junior year like Calculus and more advanced English class. Try and find some research opportunity that relates to your story or conduct your own research. Just remember not getting in to one school won’t be the end all, it’s sad but it happens just apply to places you can yourself at happy and know your worth.
Hi, from what you've said, you seem like you have a very good chance at getting into SBU! i just got accepted and I didn't take the SAT or ACT, and but I had a 4.0 GPA with the only exceptional classes i took being honors chemistry and AP world history in 10th grade. And my only extracurriculars were doing some volunteer work. So I would say you have more than what it takes to get that acceptance. However I will say that a lot of colleges, not only SBU, are looking for people with interesting backgrounds, factors that may have helped me get in is that i've been homeschooled for the past two years for familial reasons which is seen as unusual, and I have strong writing skills that benefitted my common app essay and helped me establish who I was. You seem to have that "interesting bachground" factor going for you because you're set to graduate early and have intriguing extracurriculars, are doing that competition and creating that club. Still, it depends on what you will apply to major as, because I assume that Honors programs, stem majors and those seeking medical degrees are quite difficult to get into and have extra qualifications. Make sure you are aware of that and on your application to take the common app essay seriously and truly dive into who you are and what fascinates you, they want to see your perspective and it doesn't have to be about academics.
You look really familiar

Hello, i'm in the bachelor's degree program at korean university. I want to transfer into SBU. If u have some time please answer to my quesiton! I'm looking for some advice!!! + my major is EE and minor is CS I want to go SBU CS major!!! 1. In my case our university( Hankuk University of Foreign Studies) have dual degree program with SBU. Is there any defference with transfer student?? 2. I just read some comment, and I just known about the AOI. so, if someone get into cs than every trasfer student start with AOI CS??? 2.1 IF not, Is it determined by the quota for transfer student? 3.Also I read your comment (And non of the classes cannot be lower than B-) and have some question, If I have lower than B- but retake the class and get higer gpa is that could be a problem?
good one.
Waow so Amazing can't wait to experience.
Hello. Im a junior in highschool rn and am wondering abt things like gpa, extra curricular, SAT/ACT. Would you mind sharing this so that I can get a better understanding of the requirements. Thank you so much.
Hi Ryan! I had a solid 3.6 GPA, ~150 hours of volunteer hours, joined a few clubs like ping pong. when I applied! My Sat score was 1360 💀.
@Arock Wow. First, just wanted to thank you for responding to me. :) As of now, I'm maintaining a 94 gpa (idk what that is in 4.0 scale) and have been in many clubs like mathletes and such. I'm taking ap com sci principles and applied for ap comp sci a for next year when I'm a senior. I was wondering if creating a club around "coding" and "computer science" would help boost my chances. As for testing, I'm probably taking the ACT this April or June depending on my confidence. And one final question, do you recommend anything that might help my chances of getting accepted? (Also, i heard stony had sat/act optional. Did you send in your scores or just hold onto them?) Thank you so much. :)
@@ryanjo10 Hi! wow your grades are wayyy better than mine! I don't speak for the school, but I would definitely agree that it would boost your chances! When I applied to SBU, SAT/ACT were not optional so I had to send it in! That being said, I do believe sending in your scores to SBU if they're high! Also considering your grades, ap classes, and extracurricular activities, I'd say you have a high chance of getting an acceptance! Also remember that it's not all in the grades and extracurricular activities, so be sure to write a solid college essay for the application! Just know that the CS major is pretty competitive and you might get placed into AOI (Area of Interest) if you get accepted into SBU.
@@arock. Thank you so much for responding. :) For now, I'll try and get my GPA up and do more extra curricular. Also I just got accepted into national honor society so I hope that can help my chances. Thanks again.
short but love the edits😂
Hi, how are the internship opportunities at stony. I’m an incoming freshman class of 27
Hi! The internship opportunities are amazing! we have career fairs(meta was here last year) and many clubs that help you prepare for internships!

hey, video was interesting, can you please make a video on tips for a student like me who got into SBU in engineering(fall 2023).
i have mor subs than you
Hello, I came to Stony fall 2022 semester with biochem major. Finished this semester with 3.88. I'm trying to take 114 and 215 next sem and 214 over summer. If I get something around 3.7 next sem, do you think I have a good chance of being accepted?
Hii. One thing to keep in mind is that there is no guarantee you’ll get accepted even if you fulfill the requirements. But generally having the good grades and a solid personal statement (only if you’re in college of arts and sciences) will make your chances high. Good luck!
@@arock. Thanks. Can you tell me what is required for the application except the required classes?
No other requirement! just complete the class(pass them all with an average GPA of at least 3.2, I think. And non of the classes cannot be lower than B- ) and apply. And, if you're outside of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, then you have to write an one page personal statement detailing why you want to major in cs, course work, etc(basically another college essay)
@@arock. Many thanks. All the best to you. Hopefully I can get into the major. I started studying some java by myself so that I can try to get a perfect grade for 114.
Thanks for such a nice video. I just got an offer on the same team as you, any tips on how to navigate the internship will be appreciated.
Hi! first off, congratz! you should be very proud of this achievement! the number 1 tip, I would recommend is to open up and ask questions when you feel lost. Another tip would be to keep track of your progress so you have an idea of what you learned and what still needs to be done before the end of the internship. As for navigating the internship as a whole, I'd say connect with people! Usually, Microsoft would place you into a hotel with other interns so it's easier for you to connect.
Oh also: always check your emails periodically throughout the day(very important)! It's also a good idea to create filters in your MSFT email to filter out emails that are not as important to you. Sometimes there are important emails that are sent out and they get masked over by other emails.
Thank you so much for these tips! I’ll make sure to practice them.
heyy yooo I just got the offer the next summer intern there. Just curious if you could have all the stuff unbox like headset or the laptop? I wonder if we could connect?
Hi!! you keep everything except for the monitor and laptop!
@@arock. including the headset?? Niceeee! Can't wait for the internship then:") Are you still working there? I wonder if we can connect cuz I will do the internship at Microsoft and I have so many questions about it.
