You shouldn’t think for a second that your old Remington 870 can’t make hits to distance. A good rifled Magnum slug, and holding your shotgun bead in just the right place, it is easily a 200 yard rig.

Great looking rifle! I have a 1:10 twist 308 with the same issues with light bullets :)
Nice video, thank you!
Bruh I lost my cold steel kukri that I got to replace my custom thick one and the guy at the store gave a a old ass version of what I bought I still have the sheath and packing to prove it’s old it even says made in South Africa ingraved in it instead of made in china printed on
I found one myself about a year ago. Custom stock with polished fixed floorplate, receiver sight and front bead chambered in 30-06. It is an Oberndorf action from 1901 that was modified by Germany in 1921 to the newer standard, and some mad lad installed a Springfield 1903 barrel on it. I was the only one who bid and got it at a price of 450 with paid shipping. The old mauser actions make for truly fine rifles.
I'm pretty sure that's a JC Higgins mauser. Just judging by the stock
No, it has the thumbcut it is a military mauser.
That's how you unload a Kimber. Shuckinouinout
That's a good deal noawadays. The crowd for some reaspon have jack the prices up on all rifles and specially mausers which used to be a dime a dozen for under 100dollars back in the day.
You got your money bAck in after market parts, safety, trigger, stock, scope mounts etc. it may be 1906 Peruvian, action judging from the length of the barrel ring. Get rid of the cartridge loops & tape and you have a good shooter..Don’t work on it you have not the knowledge! Just saying
Can you swing the safety with the scope in place?
@@ericsissenwein3601 yes
I have one also ☺️.. 👍🏼🥃🇺🇸
How does Mauser and junk go together??
Is it something like a legacy Harrington & Richardson from the 1960's? Mike at USOG did a short review on a similar rifle. The Harrington & Richardson Ultra was made in Belgium by FN for H&R. Very primo sleeper rifles. Imo nicer than the Voere mausers from the same era. The Old Voere mauser hunting rifles of the seventies are quite nice which tells yo something.
No, it has the thumbcut it is a military mauser.
Standard work for the 60s and 70s. Very hard to identify wwith the modifications. Maybe something under the front scope ring in the way of markings.😊
I build and sell custom rifles and AR15 7 AR 10 uppers in noncommercial chamberings. Most all of my rifles I build are in Mauser 98 actions from Military to European commercial actions. The parts for Mauser 98s are every place even ebay all the parts for Mauser 98s can be bought. Hooser Mauser parts is another great company to get Mauser parts. I will look in pawn shops for $200 ish prices Mauser 98 rifles for the actions to build into Highly accurate and beautiful hunting rifles. I am going to do the next Mauser 98 action in 6.5x51 Jap which is just a light bit more than the 6.5 Creedmoor. I already chamber AR 10 uppers for sale in 6.5x51 Jap, the 6.5x51 Jap is far superior to the 6.5 Creedmore by the tapered cartridge assist in extraction of the cartridge after firing, you just cannot get a fired 6.5x51 Jap cartridge hung up in the chamber with the taper in the cartridge. I use Pac Nor Barreling stainless super match barrels the company can barrel and chamber for me with muzzle breaks and fluting for $500 shipping in the price. I use Boyde's stocks that go for $300 to $500 Good advice for the 98 action is to change the firing pin and spring to a Tubs speed lock so the old weak firing pin spring is gone, and a new speed lock spring is in the bolt
Bubba did a number on that one.
That stock is from quarter sawn walnut. Probably a Bishop or Fajen blank from back in the day. You got a really nice buy.
@@chriswerkes8313 thanks. It has a heavy feel to it.
You want to get rid of it,just let me know
I own a 1940 made K98 rebarreled to 7.62 x 51. It is ex IDF. Shoots 308 Winchester just fine up to 180 grain ammo. Had it for 30 years now. It is an excilent rifle.
I had one of those same conversions at one time and it shot alright. At some point I got one of the barrels unused in the white that were made for the same. Why? I dunno. I was not building any rifles.
@@TomSherwood-z5l I used Pac Nor Barreling for the rifles and AR rifles I build and sell. So, I know you can get a Mauser 98 barreled with a Pac Nor Stainless in the supper match with fluting and muzzle break then chambered for $500 with shipping. Messing with some unknown barrel is just asking for problems and same for these budget brand barrels. I also will used Douglass barrels, and they will barrel a Mauser for $700 . I was sold a defective Weatherby mark 5 with the chamber reamed sideways and as always of Weatherby they do everything not to take responsibility for their defective guns which now even on TH-cam are videos of Weatherby owners complaining of defective shotguns and rifles by Weatherby and near the same story as I got was it was my fault the gun shoots badly. So, I shipped the Weatherby to Pac Nor for a new Stainless supper match 27 inch barrel with fluting and Muzzle break at a cost with shipping was $500 to go back to 300 Wby mag chamber.
Early last year I picked up a sporterized Kar98k in 7x57 with a 6x Leopold scope at a gun show for 450. The action bedded and barrel is free floating. I have shot 1.6" group at 100 yards with factory ammo.
That rifle dose really well for you and if you wanted more power, you could have that barrel rechambered to the 280 Rem or 280 AI.
@@Lure-Bensongive us a 7mm Mauser chambering, any day! Practically everything about the cartridge is adequate, and a proven design, from the get go. When you have a proper twist, it'll handle everything you'll encounter. And fitted to a 98 action, the round really shines!

No way in hell I would be so ignorant to attempt to use a rifle in 7mmx57 on coastal brown bear hunts when it can't stop a raging brown bears charge on the spot. I do know of a few Browns shot and killed by using a 7x57 but the shooter was backed up by a person with a 338 magnum and the other hunter was backed up by a person with a 458 Lott and in both bear kills the people with the large magnums had to get involved in shooting the bears. The main feature of this is the ar15 and ar10 magazine compatibility. If u already have an ar and want a bolt action you can use the same mags and ammo. The only thing I don't like is the shorter barrel. I wish it was at least 20-22inches
@@Darthdoodoo they make them or at least they did make them in different barrel lengths. I bought this one because I saw it on the shelf at the shop, handled it, and yes, the magazine compatibility was definitely a selling point for me. The P mags by far and away offered the smoothest cycling and reliability of all I have tried
Mossberg offers them in barrel lengths up to 22". This is the patrol model, which is better for a suppressor with the shorter 16" barrel.
And that doesnt mess up the extractor? Ive been apprehensive about doing this so im genuinely curious
It won’t, the extractor is a good thickness steel chunk with a spring under it, doing this also doesn’t mess with the hooked, ramp side of the extractor any more than normal feeding would.

I've got a Patrol as well, synthetic stock, got a 3x9 Vortex Viper scope on it, added a bipod and it's a freaking fantastic rifle! I typically fire cheap Chinese surplus ammo through it (steel case and not brass) and I find that it absolutely HATES it, feeding issues etc... but when I put 165 Federal and 168 Federal Match Grade ammo, it's freaking bang on. I will say that even with the issues the Chinese ammo gives (not all the time) it can be pretty accurate as well.

The high battery compartment and control knob on the M4 does have one advantage though, it's easier to manipulate the knob with thick gloves on. That said I have the M4S myself. I don't like how the high battery compartment on the M4 messes with my field of view.
