2023 Nissan Frontier - Disabling the Auto Off Engine Feature
Hello this short video shows how to wedge a small piece of plastic under the auto off button of a Nissan Frontier to disable the auto off engine feature. While I'm all for green and sustainable practices, I think Nissan got this feature wrong and the risk of replacing parts prematurely outweighs the small gains of saving milliliters of fuel at stop signs.
If you're like me and you find this feature annoying and have concerns about the long term harm it will cause to your starter and other engine components, hopefully this video will help you.
Prior to testing the plastic wedge, I researched plug in adapters and other methods to disable this feature, but I found this method to be the simplest, cheapest, and lowest risk to avoid malfunction or cause some other electrical issues.
Lastly, while I haven't tested it, I'm sure this quick fix would work with other vehicles.

Hitachi 24EAP Leaf Blower Carburetor Replacement

Recently, I had trouble getting my leaf blower to start and when it did run, it didn’t sound right or have the same power. I knew it was likely from the carburetor being gummed up from leaving fuel in the gas tank over the winter and not properly caring for it. I bought this carburetor kit on Amazon (link below) and it was a 30 minute repair and it’s running like it’s new again. I’m no professi...
Used a clear piece of clear plastic like they mold around packaged products.
GENIUS
Did to my Frontier a year ago. Glad to see the world is catching up.
Just put it into "manual" lol. Flick of the wrist.
What the hell does this do. Does anyone know why people are doing this? How about an explanation.
I've been told Nissan (and other car manufacturers) are having to implement this feature to meet fuel efficiency and emissions standards. It is supposed to help preserve fuel when sitting idle. I'm all for sustainable practices, but this was a dumb change. The long term wear and tear on the starter and engine will be more costly than this minuscule fuel savings.
Great idea! I cut an 1/8" diameter black wire shrink wrap tube to length and pushed in with razor blade no heat needed. It worked perfectly
Worked great. Tried it first with other things I had around the house but only the straw seemed to work.
This worked great! Thank you! I used the end off a black tie wrap. Everyone has one of those.
6.00 p.m. 04-25-24 works great! Thanks! Eddie V
I did this using a black straw and it actually works, no more annoying auto start stop, took 30 seconds to do and only costed a straw.
Just disconnect the system from your negative battery terminal and tie it up. There'll be a light on the dash but who gives a shit
Simple, drive a car without those dumb electronics 😊
Unfortunately, most newer vehicles are introducing these features so it’ll become unavoidable eventually unless you want to drive older vehicles. I like the truck and most of the technology except for this feature. ☺️
@@mattgbox2081 that's right, exactly the reason I'll drive old "shitboxes" - turn key, 3 pedals, manual, physical gauges etc... currently driving old e39 5 series, and my goal is to drive e39 M5 one day, as a daily! 😁
Can't use a white straw... only a black one 😂
Feel free to choose whichever color you’d like. All work and are welcome ☺️
Why can’t you just press it lol and like everyother car when you restart it stays disabled
You certainly can, or I can fix it once and forget about it. I prefer to remove, and automate simple tasks in my life. 😃
The Lord my 22 doesn’t have it. They didn’t start it until 23.
