    Hi! Beautiful work! Just curious if you ever have any issues with the CA finish cracking or lifting from the wood or if you have any suggestions on how to prevent this?

    • @tworighthands
      @tworighthands ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 👋🏻 Thank you 😁 On some rings the finish was seperated from the Wood after a short time. On Others the Finish looks perfekt even after years. Its important to work really careful to get any dust or air between the coats. Also dont Sand the Ring too smooth so that the glue has a good grip. And maybe it depends on the Wood itself.

    What's the average time for every sanding level?

    • @tworighthands
      @tworighthands ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on thickness of the layers. I don't spend much time on the Low and rough grits to not remove the glue. On the higher grits i sand between 30-60 sec. Hope this was helpful 😅 Thx for your comment 👋🏻

    What prevents the ring from getting stuck to the dowel/mandrel when you apply the ca glue?

    • @tworighthands
      @tworighthands 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good Question! I always had issues with that. I tried to put Tape between, but than the Ring got Stuck to the Tape 😅 Than i just put it on carefully. Maybe you can try to put some oil or wax on the dowel, but i never tried this Method 😂 Thanks for your comment 👋🏻

    Worst parts I saw were the tape & glue on the rubber foot, you NEVER glue the foot on as it is supposed to be replaceable (BTW that was not an antique foot it was fairly new)!! Also super glue on the handle, really! Exterior wood glue or hide glue yes, super glue never!!

    • @tworighthands

    I'm going to agree that you should not have scraped and sanded so much. You took it from antique to brand new. It no longer matters that the wood itself is 100 years old. The cane is new. Still a like though. For making it new, you did a fine job.

    • @tworighthands
      @tworighthands 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 👋🏽 Forstner Bit depends on the finger diameter you want it to fit on. In the video it was about 21mm. And the hole saw needs to be 5mm larger in diameter than the forstner bit. Hope I could help😉 Thx for your comment.
