Follow along as I restore family automotive heirlooms. We have a 1952 Chevy pickup, 1979 Harley Bobber, 1966 Ford Mustang and 1948 Chevy coupe. Plus just living life in the Oklahoma Panhandle! We have a rich classic car culture in the area and tag along as we attend some of the shows.

66 Mustang O’Reilly’s radiator and Autozone fuel tank Insall
มุมมอง 213ปีที่แล้ว
Ended up getting a really good deal on a new radiator for the 1966 Mustang from O’Reilly’s. This all aluminum radiator looks and so far has performed really well. We also purchased a new fuel tank from Autozone, the new fuel tank has the original OEM style but is powered coated instead of galvanized. Both installed without any problems.

I appreciate your electrical knowledge. Where are you located?
So trippy the video mirroring effect hurts my brain! Right is left is right 🥴
Can you post your list of new parts? - thanks
That’s a tall request but I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for watching.
Superbike.. all best for you
Thanks
What brand of epoxy floor did you use and do you like it?? TIA
I purchased several years ago from www.milamar.com/home-improvement/ it’s the Super Coat product line. When I was a epoxy flooring contractor it’s all I used.
Can you tell me if you ever separated the case halves to have access to the spider gears. If so how did you do it
That tool works great to remove auto body filler aka Bondo
Yes it does!
I had just started doing my 65 Fastback, about this time, and had done most of the same repairs !!! Including fabbing up that upper driver's Firewall flange as well. I wound up doing the full upper and lower cowl panels though.. I too had to fab up a lower footwell front flange from scratch!!! I'm not even finished my Fastback, and now I'm doing full shock towers, a battery side full apron and a radiator support for good measure, on a buddies 65 coupe !!! It was awesome 😎 how you just "Loved up" on each section, intuit was whole again. I'll be searching for more of your vids I missed back then as well . Thanks for sharing brother....
Thanks for watching and good luck with your projects. 👍
great video...now a follower, thanks for posting. I am having issue with my temp and fuel guages showing full on my 1964 econoline this will help me trouble shoot.😉
Awesome! Thanks for watching and following. I have posted in a while but have plenty of videos to get posted this winter.
Worked on this kind of gauge setup for my whole life never knew it was adjustable thank you Great video.
Glad it helped
Good job I like to use my old snap-on analog ohm meter shows those pulses just perfect.
Nice!
Hey Okie, greetings from Tulsa. I'm about to rebuild my 66 c4 and wondered if i should just order thrust washers bearings and servo o rings? Ive got a tan alto master kit w/ bushings and trans-go valve body kit, also, what did you use to clean all the parts in?
Thanks for watching! If you’re not in a hurry I would tear it down and see what you actually need. This will save you time and shipping cost in the long run. I used brake cleaner and petroleum naphtha to clean the parts.
I'm restoring a 65 comet with the 200 also. You got any parts you would sell? I'm in need of an intake.
Thanks for watching! No I don’t have any parts left over.
What’s wrong with points?
Hotter spark and only need to adjust them once and done. Made a world of difference in starting. Thanks for watching!
About how long did the swap take? I just got mine back from the builder, was hoping to be able to knock it out in a day.
It took me two days to I had to modify the mounting bracket. Thanks for watching and good luck with your project.
Lawzee Dub, nice how-to video. I have a 1966 mustang 200 6 and the c4 wont shift into 3rd. I'm in tulsa, do you rebuild c4's? I'll remove and install and deliver and pickup the trans. The trans did have a 2nd to 3rd flair, so i adjusted the bands and modulator and now it wont go into 3rd.
Thanks for watching but I’m not taking on any projects right now. I’m still working full time at my regular job.
Is the 700r4 better than the turbo 350 on a sbc 1962 sbc 327?
Julio, that’s a question that 5 people would give you a 100 answers 😂. The 700r4 will fit. I guess it all depends on how you will drive it and if you want overdrive or not. If you’re driving a lot of highway miles the r4 would be better be driving around town a 350 or 400 might be better.
@@dubsgarage i end up buying a 200-r4
@juliosandoval8244 awesome, good luck with your project!
@@dubsgarage thanks
very informative best and simple explanations I spent months finding answers you covered I give you "A"
Thanks for watching and giving me an A. 👍
Informative video thank you. Will try these techniques on my 66. I suspect the tank is not grounded well enough
Thanks for watching. When in doubt always start with proper grounding.
Your video helped me trouble shoot. Last thing I did after confirming electrics were OK is pull the sender unit. The float had fuel in it
So how dangerous is that undercoating on 60s cars? I have heard some people say it has asbestos in it. I have a 66 Thunderbird I am about start working on and I wanted to start by removing the undercoating.
I have not noticed any signs of asbestos on my vehicles however all of the older cars do have asbestos and lead in them and you should use the appropriate PPE when working on them.
Does that have a part # for the kit?
No it wasn’t a kit, I had to order the individual parts.
I meant the bearing and seal kit. Thanks for the info
Nix the background music! It doesn’t enhance the video, just annoying!
I got a copyright strike and had to change the music and it trashed the video.
Question about the 2 horizontal bolt holes on your replacement piece. Their placement seems critical. Did you weld in the replacement piece without referencing the final locations of those 2 holes. The holes on my 65 mustang are disfigured to the point where I can't precisely locate their center. Do you know of a document showing dimensions of where it should be? Thanks
@tedwards9461 I took several measurements to locate the holes before cutting out the old piece out. The new piece came with the holes and threads so just had to line it up and weld it up. Thanks for watching.
HELLO,Do you know about peterson restorations? He is on you tube.He builds 65 to 70 mustangs.mainly fast backs. I had no idea that a person could open a catalog and build a mustang from scratch.
By chance is Yukon or other rear differential suppliers making a limited slip for our 7 1/4 Ford rear?
I looked around and couldn’t find any gear sets for the 71/4 Fords. Bearings and seals were no problem. Good luck with your project.
Great video
Got a mustang once and the previous owner just laid floor pans over the rusted out floor and welded it in. I ended up using a Dynacorn full floor so I didn’t have to fix his laziness and I got all new firewall back w/o the headache of individual patches and rails. Food for thought, the full floors are a little costly (shop around, price can be as much as $1000 different). Keep up the good work, checking out your other videos
Same thing happened to me 😂
Nifty sprayer hose ($28 kit), we’ve used the Eastwood products here and there with good results. Been watching for a while, keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching.
I'm having an issue with a 65 Mustang fuel gauge. I can get empty accurate, but whatever I do full is inaccurate. Tried adjusting + wheel and S wheel multiple times. Two different sending units, three different gauges. Any advice?
Hi, nice work. I am currently working on the same tranny, could you share any manual if you have one?
Im working on a 65 6 cylinder Mustang.
Fabulous couple of video's. Just bought a 49 Chevy Suburban with 261 Stovebolt and 700R4 - I belive mine has a TCI kit fitted.
The '65 Mustang I bought recently has an OG Pertronix on it that is probably 20+ years old. I've noticed some 'browning' of the label which some folks say is heat due to leaving the ignition on. A spare and coil isn't a bad idea for longer trips.
Looks awesome! Can I bring you mine? Thanks for the video.
I’m not taking any walk in’s right now 🤣
Nice info, I'll use your video to troubleshoot my 66 mustang. BOOMER
Thanks for watching!
Nice idea 💯
Thanks for watching.
👍🏍️👍
Just found your channel. Looks like we were both putting in floorpans at close the the same time. This brought back memories of my trials and tibulations.
Awesome 😎 thanks for watching and good luck with your project!
How did you clean the inside lf the frame? How did you removed the inside rust?
How do you clean the inside of the frame rail?
Good to see the inner workings.
Thanks for watching.
Where can I get a ring and pinion for the 7.25?
@clint4004 I would check with the folks at Yukon Gear and Axle first. You could also check on EBay might get lucky with a good used gear set. Thanks for watching.
@@dubsgarage thanks I looked possibly going with an 8in..
Hey there, I know I'm late to the party here, I loved how you showed the nitty gritty here, on how you found the panels just didn't fall together 😕. Then experimented with how to get the fit you wanted, worts and all. Some people complain about content like this, has to be edited, to the point where its just not useful to those of us, who are the same journey, doing the same project tasks. It was great 👍.
Thanks for watching. It’s not as easy as the television shows make it seem.
😍
Have any of you compared the patch rail to the full frame rail? I measured the left and right frame rail patches I received from CJ Pony and the rear spring shackle upper mount hole is 1/4" off from factory. It's closer to the bumper which will increase the distance from front to rear leaf spring mount. Curious if this will cause any issues/concerns with rear suspension.
No haven’t used one of the patches. I do know a lot of the reproduction parts are not exactly the same and require some massaging to get them to fit properly.
Your cars diamonded, you have to do this on a frame table if you expect to get it straight
Love ya cuz.. looking good 😊
Thanks for watching my video’s. Hope you’re dad liked it too.
Great choice of music!
Thanks, I got a copy right warning so hopefully I won’t have to change it.
I do agree on the music! 😊🌟
You are so welcome, daddy and I love watching you! Great work 😊🌟
There is a a special tool available for a Multitool to do exactly this
Do you know the manufacturer of it?
What is this tool?
Thanks for letting us know what the tool is
Looks great! Not sure what year that head is but 1975? And newer have the biggest valves and hardened seats so you dont need fuel additive.
Thanks for the feedback. How’s your project coming along?
