Admiral Piett Vintage Collection 270 VC270 ACTION FIGURE REVIEW / THOUGHTS
Great video….you know your sh*t! Lots of great info in there….great research?
Will you be doing every droid in revenge of the sith and potentially the sequels??
Yes, to Revenge of the Sith- I started it over a year ago and just have to rewatch the movie uninterrupted to make sure I didn’t miss any droids, probably not to the sequels, though. However the droids of Rogue 1, and the Mandalorian might happen.
@ I can’t wait! I do use your guides when trying to 100% my Lego figure collection, making custom characters constantly
I'm not even a collector and this was a great video! Love to see people who love a thing that they do...
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Are the mentioned Rancors identical? One is just a re-release?
The 2009 Legacy Collection Rancor was released twice in order to meet demand. The second time they released it, the arms moved more easily and they didn’t go as heavy with the light brown dry-brushed paint so the figure is darker (and in my opinion-better) overall. When they rereleased the Rancor with Jabba the Hutt and the other extra figures, the Rancor was pretty much identical to the second (darker) release of the 2009 Legacy figure.
I love that pitted, metallic, subtle blue finish on the old POTF 21B. It is such a unique look, that I couldn't be bothered upgrading to the newer one.
Agreed- I would still like a new better articulated figure, but if they can’t recapture that metallic blue sheen and pitted texture quality they ought not bother!
@@noskillcustoms I had forgotten how weird the new one looks. He looks like Smeagol in battle armor.
This sold out rather fast on the Shop Disney website so was really frustrated to miss one. I just found one on ebay for 650 (cheapest NIB available) . After tax and shipping it was more than 2 weeks of work 😭. But this was a must have. In time the resale value may go down but I didn't want to risk it going up and up, so it was worth it since this was a holy grail toy for me since childhood.
I know-I’ve almost bought one for myself many times at $650, but for now I’ve decided to just visit my brother’s as needed.
Hey Bert! Will you ever do a every droid in revenge of the sith!? I’m trying to get every droid as a figure but I need a guide who knows his stuff
Yes! I have it started-I just need to sit down and watch Revenge of the Sith again straight through to make sure I didn’t miss anyone-it just takes a while cuz I pause every 10 seconds LOL. I’ll shoot for having it done for the new year!
The scene in ROTJ Jabbas palace where they've reversed the film in the special edition and Fetts range finder is on the right hand side is an unforgivable error.. does my head in they didn't catch such a massive and glaringly obvious mistake. It's bit of an in joke in the helmet collecting community, people take selfies and don't realise they've flipped the image... you ask them if they bought the 97 special edition helmet.. and they're usually very confused by the question 😂
10:13 well I guess the next set of holiday figures need to include Emperor Palpatine as an Emperor Penguin. And they still need to do Count Dooku as Dracula.
Yes, and yes!
Great video! I was really happy to see this. I also purchased these droids, and I like them quite a bit. I also had slight problems with the BB droid bottom not clicking in, the R1-G4 droid had a bent antenna, and the arm doesn't really stay in the chopper droid. I thought that maybe I wasn't putting them together correctly. Anyway those things aren't a huge deal, and I still really like the set. I can't believe how closely the Christmas tree droid resembles your idea. I hope they did use your idea, and that they will also use your idea for the Santa droid. That Santa droid looks awesome, and I think the Santa droid would be my favorite of all of them. Thanks again
I still really like the set too! Fingers crossed for Santa next year!
They could’ve at least named your droid B3-RT😅
Oh man, I need to make a droid named B3-RT!
The pouches are just old mil-surplus gear….. why wouldn’t they re-use props?
I just think the Ewok movies seem so separate from the Original Trilogy, that it’s surprising to see how much reuse is lurking in the background…and yes of course it totally makes sense to reuse props-in fact I wish the prequels and sequels had more original trilogy props (or at least replicas).
I hate baby Yoda, but great video.
I don’t know if this would help you like baby Yoda more, but in a roundabout way, he is the only reason that we have a 3.75” scaled Blurrg toy.
@ How?
No baby Yoda- no Mandalorian show- no show and there was no way Hasbro was considering making Blurrg toys
@@noskillcustoms I think they could’ve found a way to make the show without baby Yoda.
Interesting! We are known for being a “Star Wars-loving family,” and we kept being gifted this doll. We had 4 of them at one point, and ended up giving them away. I’m pretty sure I could go to my local discount store and find a new one. I work in an emergency department, so no back-to-work presents for me. I did get free N95’s and test kits, though!
That toys was seriously everywhere! I don’t even know how I came to own mine! Also,Free masks and test kits aren’t as much fun as a present, but I suppose they’re a decent trade-off.
Have you considered doing a list of all characters in Dex’s Diner or the Outlander Club in Attack of the Clones?
No I haven’t. But I do have one “every character” list from Attack of the Clones in the works- might still be several months. But once I get that done- each of those ideas sounds pretty cool!
Wow, this is a childhood favorite and I've learned a lot from your video, thanks! 😄I did notice the Return of the Jedi version of the Wicket costume, but it never occurred to me that it was from cut Jedi scenes. I figured they just reused the costume for someone else. Being cut scenes makes a lot of sense, though! I'm curious, where'd you get the behind the scenes photo with Charal, Terak and the other marauders?
Glad you enjoyed it and learned something, too! The behind the scenes photo is also from the ”Star Wars: Chronicles” book that I mentioned at the end. The book is credited to Deborah Fine and Aeon Inc. and published by Chronicle books. It’s huge with lots of cool pictures-most (but not all) of which have found their way onto the internet. It was published before the Special Editions so it’s primarily (99%) about the Original Trilogy. It features 8 pages devoted to the Ewok movies and spreads that talk about the Holiday Special, and Star Tours.
@@noskillcustoms Awesome, thanks for the info 😄 Eric Walker shared quite a few behind the scenes photos of the first Ewok movie over the years. But material for the second movie (my favorite as well) seems to be a lot more rare.
All hail the BLURGG! The most ridiculous looking SW creature, but an absolute "must have" item. LOL. I just ordered mine today. Love IT!
Yeah it’s kinda like a squashed T Rex and a piranha combined! Ridiculous but awesome!
En resumen: - Toy Biz : 🤮👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻🤮🤮 - Diamond: 😌👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ok, maybe Toy Biz isn’t THAT bad. LOL
Independent film making at its best. Reuse and repurpose.
Wow! I had no idea about most of these. Thanks for another great video Bert.
You are most welcome!
Klaatu, Barada and Nikto never changed their names in my universe.
Very interesting video. A shame so many original SW costumes & props were damaged or destroyed for this sh*t movie. What a waste. I'll bet Lucas regrets it now, considering how much original screen-used SW props can fetch at auction. Lol. The biggest SW loss for me, was the original, complete EMPIRE Boba Fett costume wasn't saved. 😭 Saw these two Ewok films back in the 1980s and thought they were crap.
Yeah, I’ll bet all sorts of films of the 70’s and 80’s wish they took better care of their props once the movie was done. At least some of the costumes and props that were split up to make this movie have all been located and put back together as can be seen in books like Star Wars costumes: The Original Trilogy by Brandon Alinger However, I doubt that the poor speeder bike ever got reassembled.
Battle for Endor was so confusing for me as a kid, because I assumed that the Marauders were the Duloks and the witch was Morag, but then they weren't!
Yes, I totally thought the Marauders were supposed to be live action Duloks, too!
OMG! Get to it. Stop telling us what you're going to show us and just show us.
Patience, you must learn patience.-Yoda
@noskillcustoms Great info. in your video. I forwarded it to a friend who loves STAR WARS and owns a costume, prop and set design company.
A little upsetting to know how all of the props were raided and in some cases altered to make this movie...they were all put back again where they belonged, right? I wonder if there are certain things lost just because they were reused to save a dollar!
I have seen costumes on display and photographed in books since the movie and I would have to say most things have been restored to what they were for Return of the Jedi, but I’m guessing there’s still a bunch of things that were forever altered, or even just thrown out after filming this movie- best not to think about it!
R4-M9 to me has always been cream and brown. I’m sure it’s the filter they used on the non special editions. On closer inspection he might have been a dark olive Green without the filter at most
He’s tough to figure out for sure…DVD, Blu Ray, Disney+ --every time I watch I have a different opinion! They did have some strange lighting especially with a new hope. When Luke and Obi Wan go into docking bay 94 a Saurin alien walks by and his shirt (which is green) changes from green to red as he goes from left to right-and green and red are opposites!
Good eye!
Thanks!
Excellent video but a terrible film, sorry 📽️😵💫
Thank you! I have a hard time being objective when watching stuff I like as a kid!
R they die cast?
No they are all plastic, much like Hasbro’s 3.75 inch scale Star Wars toys
In Noah's house the fireplace looks like the head of robbie the robot from forbidden planet...your thoughts?
Close but I think the fireplace is metal on top instead of glass or plexiglass like Robbie the Robot. It definitely looks like it is “Robbie the Robot” inspired though!
Brilliant video. So happy it’s finally made. Been waiting on this one.
Glad you liked it! I looked up when I first began collecting photos for this video, and it was nearly 2 years ago!
@ I didn’t realize that it was this long! 🤯
15:27 “here is another thing that is rarely seen in the Star Wars movies”. And I see you zooming in on Chewie’s ASS. 😂I was so confused where that sentence was going😅
😂I was aiming for his feet LOL!!!
It’s nice to know that the tortured Gronk Droid was there in spirit 🫡
Truly an inspiration to us all!
I loved Battle for Endor as a kid! Great video!
The uniform color is called feldgrau or field-grey.
Noted, thank you!
Awesome video Bert does Poky have a TH-cam channel 👍
No he just occasionally joins mine
It’s so cool. But I’m not a big enough fan of giant man to justify the purchase. Would love to have a new rancor monster.
Do you use scupt a putty? That white stuff? The 1st guy looks like Sarak from Star Trek. And in my opinion Battlestar Galactica is its own cool sci-fi not a rip off. Love the video!😊
I use Apoxie (a two part clay very much like green stuff, only workable for longer and not as flexible). Yes, the Sarak resemblance is uncanny- maybe my custom figure more than the actual actor, even. I’ve never really given Battlestar Galactica a chance- I was just teasin’!
Dude. You're gonna have to change you channel name. You have Skills! Awesome paint job! Repaints. Washes and dry brush, all skills! Excellent jod!
Thank you! The channel’s name was originally about reusing parts and accessories in ways they weren’t intended to make custom figures and dioramas with no necessary skills. But with companies making more diorama parts, and people 3-D printing much more now, the original idea seemed less necessary, and the focus of the channel has shifted.
Been meaning to watch this for ages! Has been saved in my 'watch later' playlist! Ha! 👍😉
While you’ve been getting around to watching it, I’ve gone back and forth about retiring the display or not like 20 times LOL!😂
Can you put the Helm's Deep Uruk head on the Lurtz body?
No- because nobody listens to me LOL. I suggested in one of my videos that they do that, but the Helm’s Deep Uruks have attached necks and Lurtz’s head is separate from his neck.
@@noskillcustoms Ah that is a shame, thought of getting multiple Lurtz figures, but i guess i will pass on him as i already have a ToyBiz Lurtz that looks fine for what i need it for. I did get four of the Helm's Deep Uruks.
I love that figure and had some fun with it here: th-cam.com/video/ChJZ_FqIWgE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7sFtTgH7DYJ9-LgE
@@noskillcustoms Going to watch that, thanks! You know of any way to prevent rubber from going rotten on the figures? My Cave Troll seems fine at the moment, but my Battle Cry Uruk's both have pudgy faces like they got beaten up by Mike Tyson.
The only thing I have heard is just displaying items in a climate controlled space and not touching them with bare hands. I’ve had both the problems you mentioned. My Cave troll’s face fell apart, and my Battle cry Uruk’s face hardened and turned yellow/pink. For the Cave troll I plan to sculpt a new face, but for the Uruk I might just freshen the paint. Staley’s customs on instagram sells replacement faces for the cave troll. They look pretty great. I don’t know if he has any solutions to the battle cry uruk. FYI, if you contact him, don’t ever mention “Rings of Power”
I think the zombie is my favorite because it looks like it could be in a show or movie but love the clear dome on the green one
Yes- it looks really authentic as if it could be in live action.
R5-Z0MB would make George (Romero) proud. 😂
Night of the Living Droid! Shoulda used that joke in my video!
That Zombie droid is brilliant. I never knew that even existed.
It’s on sale right now at ShopDisney.com! $8.99 (I think if you spend $75 you get free shipping!)
Never realized how cool these droids were! My suggestion would be (and I don’t know if it’s really Halloween) a R5 unit painted like a Yeti so it can have a painted on mouth design like how some droid owners paint designs on their heads.
I think your Yeti idea would work really well for a werewolf if they ever do one!
@@noskillcustoms Thanks, yeah that would be better for the Halloween theme.
The BB droid would be the jack o lantern
Yes! You’re right that’d be perfect, but I’m still not gonna pay $15 for it!
@@noskillcustoms they would have to make it a 3 pack pumpin droid set
Awesome work!
Thank you!
To answer your questions, 1) I wouldn’t buy any Black Series figs. I understand why you like the Luke in Jabba’s palace but that’s still a pass for me. And 2) I think you caught all the holos except maybe QuiGon Ep I when communicating with ObiWan and sending Anakin’s M count. The only other uses may be force ghosts.
A TVC Force ghost 3 pack would look good like this!
How did they not make Princess Leia, literally the character you think of when you hear the word hologram. Excellent video, love your stuff! I’d love to see your attempts at making customs of characters that only appeared in the Customizable Card Game and were based off scrapped Marquettes and such. There are some very unique characters there.
Ahh the old CCG cards- I did always love those cards! I bought them specifically for all those cards of background characters and Marquette’s! Very cool idea for customs! I got as far as a Ket Malliss head sculpt one time but I have no idea where that got off to.
@@noskillcustoms That’s awesome! I don’t really know how to play the game but just love it because of all the lore it added and those characters 🤣
They actually did make a Revenge of the Sith Darth Sideous in the black series
