I Pushed Too Hard - This Climb Changed Everything - Ultimate Adventure on Mučevo Via Ferrata
"Mučevo Via Ferrata - The Most Versatile and Beautiful Route in Slovenia!"
This is the Ultimate Via Ferrata Adventure - a six-episode mini-series packed with breathtaking climbs and unforgettable challenges!
The second episode of the Ultimate Via Ferrata Adventure takes us to the breathtaking Mučevo Via Ferrata in Slovenia. Unlike the intense, single-path challenges of Schlossberg, Mučevo offers a unique climbing experience with its web of interchanging routes-hard and easy variants connecting from one vantage point to another.
This incredible climb begins on the walls of a gorgeous, wet canyon that feels like something out of a dream. I faced a major test of endurance, navigating through intense vertical segments until I hit the final hard ascent-where exhaustion took over, and I had to use the Ferrata.Bloc to aid myself. It was disappointing but a humbling reminder of how demanding and rewarding Via Ferrata can be.
🌟 Highlights of This Video
A stunning wet gorge as the starting point.
Unique interchanging routes for a flexible and customizable adventure.
My struggle on the final vertical segment and what I learned from it.
🚨 The Ultimate Via Ferrata Adventure Series:
1️⃣ Schlossberg Klettersteig (Griffen, Austria) - Overhangs, lost gear, and controversy.
2️⃣ Mučevo Via Ferrata (Slovenia) - An adaptable web of routes and a test of endurance.
3️⃣ Peterlewand Klettersteig (Austria) - A scenic yet technical masterpiece.
4️⃣ Adventure Climb Varmost (Italy) - High-altitude thrills with breathtaking views.
5️⃣ Ferrata della Memoria al Vajont (Italy) - A historical and emotional climb.
6️⃣ Rino Pisetta Via Ferrata (Italy) - One of the hardest Via Ferrata in the world.
Each climb in this series showcases unique landscapes, challenges, and stories. Mučevo Via Ferrata stands out for its incredible flexibility and the personal reflection it brought me.

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is no such thing as beginner level or not. They all are the same (almost all). Make sure it is a rock climbing sitting harness. You can use a canyoning harness but for sure not a mountaineering harness. You should default to a rock climbing harness. For my case I see I prefer adjustable leg loops. If you think this is a one off thing, buy something cheap. Will be less comfortable but not crazy money. If you think you plan using it for a while, buy something a bit more expensive that promises comfort (you need comfort especially if you plan going D or E level eventually).

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @arturjozwik76 in this case you experience exactly what I thought. The need for comfort while resting. Black Diamond Momentum has some good padding. Don't try to invent padding by yourself. Also, remember, with padding comes warmth and wet. Will be somehow more comfortable but will get you hot and the harness will get wetter

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Via Ferrata Sets are rated up to 120kg users' weight. Is not precise science but if you are less than 120kg in weight you can safely statically load the Via Ferrata Set for resting. Statically means you can lower yourself into the Via Ferrata Set. You should not drop yourself into it (dropping yourself based on how aggressively might trigger a partial deployment). This being said, I don't advise using the Via Ferrata Set for resting. I sometimes myself fully extend it when making the anchor point transition but only that. Why not use for resting? Is not comfortable. You have to lower yourself way below the resting point. Not fun.

      Greetings Chris. The segment in the edit is addressing to you, you are the Chris I speak for. I climbed them in eight consecutive days (this includes the drive from one place to the other and the climb of Hans Kammerlander that is not part of the series). It is more than 10 climbs. I climbed Adventure Climb Varmost twice (I had to return) because of lost footage, Peterlewand I climbd that initial section maybe five times to get all the angles and recover the gear (stay tunned for the next episode), Mučevo climbed twice as well because of the lost footage. There was no break. I rested after that doing Cinque Terre and the annual jump in Manarola Bay, Ice Cream in Pisa and Venice, bought some olive oil in Umbria and then cannyoning with a subscriber to the channel in Slovenia (where I injured the knee on a rock when jumping and had to stop the trip). I did Peterlewand in the same day with Schlossberg and returned and double climbed after Mučevo on my way to Italy. Something like that.

      I bought the Go 3s right after you did. And the X4 after losing the X3. What hurts most is the money. Then, once you lose or break something your trip is almost ruined if not buying something on the go. For the X3 case it was impossible to replace with somethings temporary. Buying. A new one from a retailer would've been a hard hit on budget. I bought the back mount (new version). Let's see if this improves things (and if camera will be safer)

I think I can last a bit more before going in full crisis mode. I guess a sponsor will help only if it is enough money to help me do this full time and not worry about the future. I worry a lot. I have many puzzle pieces to put together. Realistically speaking I don't think finding a sponsor is possible. Usually sponsors comes after success. Not before. I'm not giving up. I solved some of the personal problems, bad things that happened to me last year. I aim hard at rehabilitation and a strong come back this year. Will depend on finding a job (now companies want you at least 3 days in office and this will make travel more difficult). Will see. Time will tell.

    Are these shoes suitable for walking in the mountains in winter in snow?

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can use La Sportiva TX5 only at low altitude with limited snow and only early winter late spring. But take this as the rating of a sleeping bag. They have the comfort rating, limit and extreme. Extreme is for survival. Smart here. You can go as a one off just because and at maximum risk. If you expect snow and plan a long, hard climb (mountaineering climb) that involves crampons, icepick or rough terrain and low temperatures than no, this shoe will not do it. If you go on a safe route that you know with certainty you will compete in one or two hours maybe yes but otherwise not. In general I say no. For city walks or to take the cable car up and down, sit a bit on snow around the cable car, yes. But for a long, serious, demanding winter mountaineering adventure, no. Will it make it? If not too cold and no need for crampons yes, you might make it. But the conditions have to be ideal (spring ideal). They are not made for walking in the mountains in winter in snow.

    Hello, thanks for the video! I would like to ask whats the difference in the shoes for ferrata and normal hiking boots? my hiking boots are high cut to protect ankles, can I wear that for ferrata? also im curious for some smaller ferrata areas (not alps) if it is mostly climbing not walking can I wear my rock climb shoes?

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I can only imagine extreme Level F Via Ferrata requiring in exceptional cases climbing shoes (short sharp Via Ferrata). I did see people with climbing shoes after them (on Rino Pisetta multiple times) but it is an exaggeration. I always climb it with normal Via Ferrata shoes (La Sportiva TX4 in my case). In theory yes you should be able to use your current shoes for Via Ferrata and no new shoes should be necessary. What we many times do is for excessive comfort, stability, control. But in reality you can climb with almost any technical shoe. Of course, any might fail but this is a different story. Don't worry about it for now. Focus on staying safe by climbing the right difficulty level. Don't expose yourself unnecessarily.

    It is a good budget SUV. But no vehicle with only 3 EuroNCAP stars can be named best SUV of 2025.

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It really depends on the perspective of your analysis or interpretation of the EuroNCAP test results. If a car loses points because it doesn't has ISOFIX child-seat anchor points and you don't have a child that needs that, how is that lower score affecting you? If you care more about your safety as a driver on a motorway where you don't have cyclists how having or not cyclists detection or protection helping you? At the end probably what we have to answer is what makes a SUV best SUV. A 75k Ford Ranger Raptor I cannot afford buying and for sure I will not have where to park, how to drive around cities like Rome, Vienna or Bucharest and will always set me back 14l/100km. Can Dacia improve? For the right price (budget) any car can improve. But for this price, Duster 3 is a very good car.

    • @procerator
      @procerator 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @JetSetYourself I get what you are saying. For that price there is no 4x4 you can buy that would've been better. Best budget 4x4 of 2025 indeed. But is quite hard to call it best SUV overall when you have offers from Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Subaru and Toyota that also offer 4x4 options. At a higher price, sure, but providing higher safety standards.

    Love your safety and technical instruction when you hike/climb on Via Ferrata. Question: Is Via Ferrata only suitable to climb/hike using certain rock types, e.g., granite, and not limestone or soft rock that you experience in certain deserts? Such as in Arizona deserts, Grand Canyon or is Dolomites, Sierra Nevada, Colorado, Alps more safer and preferable with harder rock faces that have less chance of rock crumbling or breaking off? Merci. Great work.

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not clear your question. Via Ferrata is a set route where the constructor installs a safety steel.cable made of steel from start to the end. If you have it, it means it can be climbed. It doesn't matter where it was set, built. As long as it exists, you can climb it. US doesn't has too many. Most routes are set in Europe primarily in the Alps. If you ask about rock climbing a Via Ferrata, best not to do it. The risk of falling is too high. Just climb it standard leveraging with at least one hand the safety steel cable.

    As a former sleddog-musher, good equipment and how to use them is very important. We never used open carabiners, only screw-lock. But we have only one conected to the sled, shock-absorbers, and dynema-ropes. Very interesting.

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For Via Ferrata screw-lock or any other locking carabiner will not be practical for the Via Ferrata Set. On a short route you make at least 100 anchor point transitions (200 moves). On a regular route at least 500. On long routes it gets to more than a thousand. Imagine the time it takes to advance by screwing on and off a carabiner.

      Metterò su anche video più suggestivi con delle discese di oltre 20°. Per questo caso in particolare se tutti gli altri usavano gli freni, io solo stavo filmando che l'auto faceva tutto il resto. Questo è di particolare aiuto considerando che gli dischi di freno rimangono a disposizione per situazioni aparte. L'assistente della discesa aiuta a controllare l'auto meglio senza pensiero. Per un auto come Dacia Duster (guarda gli costi a paragone) dico che è una grande cosa. Auguri 🥂

      @4piracingteam254 prima avevo VW Tiguan. Ho pagato il doppio, aveva solo trazione fronte e sono rimasto bloccato in montagna tante volte. Vero che la qualità al interno era migliore ma mi a anche costato quasi il doppio. A'l Tiguan mancava ancora una cosa. Non aveva la spinta necessaria per fare sorpassi oppure non rimanere fermo andando in salita. Con la Duster non ho più quel problema. Il motore mild hybrid aiuta a risolvere la limitazione Tiguan aveva. Dacia Duster 3 non è la più veloce, di sicuro la qualità del interno è diversaa per totale, per i 26100€ che ho pagato (tutto incluso) è ottima. Ha tutto che aveva Tiguan e in più mild hybrid, 4x4, cruise control, hill assist, USB C. Mancano piccole cose. Alla fine è un auto nuova a paragone con i 250 Milla km che avevo fatto al Tiguan. Mai avuti problemi con il Tiguan perché gli facevo tutto in anticipo ma era caro da mantenere. L'assicurazione quasi metta per la Duster. Cambio d'olio costa niente. Le tasse zero per il primo anno è moldo di meno per dopo. Mi sembra che consuma un può di più ma forse mi sbaglio.

    Hello. I'm just about to partake in my first via ferrata experience, in March or April next year (2025) and I'm watching everything on TH-cam, mostly your channel. That being said, the proportions of my body are quite unusual. I'm 198cm tall but weigh only 75kg at the moment. I'm skinny, but quite enduring and strong (I work as a rope access technician) What would be the best size of a set for someone like me, who has very skinny legs and waist?

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello. As a rope access technician you are familiar with sitting harnesses, how to fit them, what's the best size and most comfortable for you, how to be safe while using them. This is one of the most important steps in prepping for Via Ferrata. The other important aspect is the anchor point transition. If you have the right harness and do the transition properly in case you fall you will be safe (to the extent of the limits the Via Ferrata safety equipment has of course). The Via Ferrata Set does not have a size. It is the same for everyone. Don't worry about it. It should do for your height without problems. The elasticated arms will help you for your height. Because you already work with sitting harnesses there is no need to worry. Your body build doesn't pose any issue (because you already use a sitting harness and know how to adjust that to your body build). Just go out there and have fun. Remember, more legs, less arm force. Otherwise you will run out of energy pretty fast. Make sure to do the anchor point transitions properly, don't rush and don't climb more than you can do. D Level Via Ferrata should be the highest grade one should attack when first time in Via Ferrata (and expect to get in trouble that will put you in difficulty if not worse). Level C should be of confidence. One way or another you will complete it no matter what (given that you are already familiar with heights, rope access, etc most probably you can go through a D without too much risk as well).

    Hey great video, and great set up, and It’s always nice to save on lodging. I’ve continued on my rock climbing adventures and all is well. I’ve learned valuable lessons every time I go , and it’s been safe for me to gradually increase my distances climbed doing top rope solo taking these lessons with me every outing. I hope you have a great New Year and be safe.

      I'm curious on learning on your journey. I don't remember where you are. I would like to visit if in Europe and record a podcast with you solo climbing? I think this is something worth properly documenting. Did you ever fell so far? How did your solo system work? We can as well record a podcast normally without footage from the climbing site and just talk about it.

      @ I'm in Fresno , California which is a couple hours from Yosemite. Most of the time I go up to Tollhouse Rock which is about 45 min from my home. So far I'm climbing about 200 feet at the beginner side of the mountain and with top rope solo I only fall a few inches if I let go. Last weekend I did make a mistake of dropping my rope and I didn't have a backup , nor did I bring my aid climbing gear. I was comfortable down climbing about 75 feet to get my rope and I free climbed backup. Again I was very grateful to have gotten pretty good at that route. I'm soon going to attempt the larger mountain and do the "tollhouse traverse" route. I plan on tackling that sort of the same way as I did the smaller climb with a top rope , a micro traction and a rope man 4 ascender. However the route does traverse horizontally so I'll need to redirect my rope as needed. Someday I'd love to hike up to half dome , Yosemite falls, and El Capitan someday and rappel down so that would be great to meet up with you to use our skills to conquer something big. Let's keep in touch. Great videos !!

    Good Motivation, but please remind everybody that connecting the "resting" lanyard on a vertical dynamic climb is the worst mistake, it makes the via-ferrata set ineffective.

    • @HundyBills
      @HundyBills หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even if you’re just using it to actually rest? Do you recommend a separate PAS for resting ? Thanks

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself หลายเดือนก่อน

      @HundyBills în Via Ferrata you should not use the Via Ferrata Set for resting. Never. Two reasons. a) it lowers you way below the anchor point and b) puts unnecessary stress on you because of this slack between you and the anchor point. I do recommend that one should use a separate personal anchor system PAS for resting. The mention above refers to progression on the vertical not to rest on a vertical. In fact I did used the PAS for progression which is completely wrong. As I was saying în the video, I had no clue what I'm doing at the time, being my first time and not being as educated as I eventually became. In fact, this is the trap many fall into. That false sense of security by wrongly using the safety gear. Been there, done that, I can now see clear how easy human error can occur.

    What a great "fight" and what a great place to start!!! I started doing via-ferrata this year and Baia de Fier is definetly the via-ferrata paradise for me. The routes are more climbing focused and this is what I really like. Although, for me, the first via-ferrata was the one from Cheile Vârghișului (Șoim Călator).
