Luna Blu - Dinghy Cruising South East Queensland - Sydney RAID/Tindarra Sailors Moreton Bay Muster
Hi everyone, this is just a preview of the recent Moreton Bay Muster, where both Sydney RAID and Tindarra Sailors got together on Moreton Bay for a few days. I'm sure Paul from Sailing Kate Louise will put together a more complete video but I hope this gives you a little sneak preview. Check out Paul's channel....www.youtube.com/@UCK5KVDT1aGOQVjy7xAc1pSQ

Luna Blu - Dinghy Cruising South East Queensland - End of Financial Year Sail....
มุมมอง 1K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi folks, we are back to Southern Moreton Bay for a long weekend with Luna and Kermadec. I started out solo on Friday and met Rob and Judy in Kermadec on Saturday morning and spent the weekend sailing around in quite variable conditions. Forecasts can be quite inaccurate at this time of year and almost every moment was something different. I hope you enjoy some of the wonderful Queensland scene...
Luna Blu - Dinghy Cruising at Myall Lakes April 2024

This video is about a RAID at Myall Lakes, hosted by Sydney RAID. My friend Rob (CLC Pocketship "Kermadec") and myself (Inglis Catboat "Luna Blu") made the trip to Myall Lakes and had a couple of great days sailing and socialising until a big southerly blow ended our fun. Some of the Sydney raiders persevered for the full 4 days but we decided to pull out after 2 days. Additional footage and st...
Luna Blu - Dinghy Cruising South East Queensland - Tindarra gathering

Luna Blu attended a mid week gathering of Tindarra Sailors in Southern Moreton Bay. We started by visiting Coochiemudlo Island, then sailed over to Macleay Island as most of the group was just hitting the water. After lunch back at Coochie, I set off alone for Peel Island for a swim and a beer before heading back home just on sunset.
Luna Blu - Dinghy Cruising South East Queensland - Capsize test

This is just a quick video to show Luna's capsize behaviour. I thought it was time to see how she'd behave. I have added 30 kg of lead ballast down on the keelson each side of the CB case. I also left most of the cruising gear onboard in the storage lockers. See what you think. I'm pretty happy.

In this video we go back to Bribie Island and the Pumicestone Passage for a two day and two night cruise. Day 1 was just sailing around between Bellara Beach and the mainland to try out the new mizzen sail I added. Luna swung around a lot at anchor, probably due to the cat rig which adds windage up front, so I'm hoping the mizzen will keep her stable at anchor and also deal with a touch of lee ...

Nothing fancy, just some footage from a recent race where I took my elderly folks in the boat for a race. Very light winds, so it was a perfect opportunity not to knock them around too much. We left the spinnaker behind to make things simpler and it really slowed us on the downwind runs.

    Hello! Could you please share more information on the Mercury fuel tank cap? I have a similar motor and it had ran out of fuel in some tight places when I really needed it, so I am searching for a solution to quickly fill the internal tank. I think you dealt with the issue in a very elegant way and I would like to simply copy it :) How much fuel gets into the tank after a couple of squuzes?

    • @jasonstork9606
      @jasonstork9606 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi there. Rob has kindly made the cap print file available here. svelte.printables.com/model/1025636-mercury-35hp-4-stroke-fuel-tank-filler-cap-and-was Then you just need a tank, the fuel line and pump and an overflow return line back to the tank. I'd say the tank would fill in about 8-10 pumps but I suppose it depends on the fuel bulb pump you get. Certainly you can have the engine running again with just a few pumps. I hope that helps.

    Hi Jason, was looking at your myall trip again and realised you might be a godsend. I have a 16ft hartley and decided to shout myself a gaff sail. All went well until I tried to find a circular mast to suit. I've just noticed your friend Rob has an aluminium mast with a gaff rig on his pocket ship. Could you ask where he got it or any details that would help me build one. I realise this is probably no the forum for such a personal request but I'm getting pretty desperate and hoped you could help .

    • @jasonstork9606
      @jasonstork9606 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Robert, his mast came with the boat when he bought it, but I can tell you how I built the mast on my Argie 15. It's more or less the same as his. The Argie hull was 15'5" long so probably had a bit less sail area compared to a Hartley, but here goes anyway. The Argie plans called for a 6 metre length of 63.5mm x 3.18 mm aluminium tube (I guess that's some imperial equivalent of 2.5" x 1/8"). I used 60mm x 3mm without issue. I bought it at the local aluminium supplier. I bought tangs and stainless wire rope and various fittings from Whitworths to fit it out. I plugged the top and bottom of the tube with wood and screwed a piece of sail track onto it to slide the sail luff into. With a gaff you can live without the sail track. The shrouds were attached about 1 metre from the top of the mast. It's all pretty easy. Have a look at my videos on Kalliope with the bermudan rig and you'll see the details.

    • @robertgarner8840

      @@jasonstork9606 thanks so much for responding to my query. I can get that dimension easily but I discarded the option because I thought 3.18 wall thickness would be too heavy. My next option was to build one in carbon fibre. Ps watched Luna blu from the start and have to admit I love the look of catboat rigs. Even considering putting a mast step in the Hartley bow to see if it would work. Thanks so much again.

    Jason, nicely done video. Delightful sailing footage as well as capturing nature at it's best! Here in the states we are just starting our club overnights/events. Ours too was cut short due to high winds and the wind direction that very much limited where we could overnight etc. Thank you all (Southern Hemisphere) for carrying us through our winter with your on the water adventures!! Our beginings: th-cam.com/video/B2H6Z5bkLZ8/w-d-xo.html I also might note that Rob's boat represents our US John Harris's design where as in our video you will See Mr. Welsford also represented - and Christened! I enjoy how the sailing world has no boundries as our eyes seek the beauty of hull lines and designs!

      Good one Rob. Thanks for watching. You've got some nice boats there too.

    We really enjoyed that video Jason. While I was disappointed at not being there, it was excellent to see the Tindarra Sailors burgee you designed flying in good company with the Raid Sydney one.

      Hi Ian, yes a shame more Tindarra Sailors didn't get there, but Alex was there too!
