The story tore me up on one hand, because I was a birth mother. But then the story really lifted me when I saw how enlightened the situation can be. So the birth mother doesn’t have to suffer, worrying who her child is with and the adopting parents know who their child came from, and these extraordinary adopting parents, are so open hearted, mature and loving. Leo will be just fine. Blessings to them all.

So the father admitted in the beginning that he would not step up to the plate and help care for the child he's partly responsible for creating...so he convinced her to give away their child. I bet he's "free" now.

Normally as an adoptee I am highly against adoption and I personally would have perfered to be aborted. However even though I would not call this normal I think it can work I think these three really love little Leo and as his sister in adoption I thank all three for loving him more than themselves and their legal rights.

I placed my daughter 22 years ago. I started visiting her at 6 weeks old. It takes very strong families to make this work for the good of the child. God bless you all that make it continue to work. I love and bless you all.

Whoever wrote that speech is a dam genius writer. After quite a few years i keep looking this video up and just listen to it 2 or 3 times.

Caillie has given the best gift that no one could ever give. I know she struggled with her decision but at the end she put Leo first. Karen and Brian are wonderful humane beings to let Callie be so involved in Leo life. They're role models to baby Leo and other mom and birth parents who are considering and struggling through the same thing. I hope they're still close now and that everyone is doing great.

I still get a very sad feeling in my stomach. It was just a money matter, isn't it? So this open adoption is still an egoïstic choice. Imagine they should support the child financially and that he would stay with his biological mum. He would have both, growing up with his biological mum and enough money to have a good life. Maybe I think like this because I live in a country where children are never given up for adoption because of lack of money.

I was adopted and HATE everything about it !!! I was placed where I didn’t have ANY family other than parents around. They treated their biological daughter much better especially at Christmas when her and her daughter would go shopping every year without me and I could write a book about the exact same thing !!!!!!

Birth mom seems that she fails to understand that she is only the BIRTH mother. She is NOT co-parenting. Dad made the comment that one day it will be them, her PARENTS, whose decision is final. Open adoption is one thing, but this one is gonna get messy some day. 😢
