Hubby and I enjoy your adventures. As I child I was brought up in Napadogan. The Nashwaak and its scenery are near and dear. My Father and Grandfatthers on both sides fished the Nashwaak and Miramichi waters as boys and grown men. Thank you for capturing our beautiful province with great, clean videos.
Looks like you caught enough fish for lunch. Smallies are great. (I can’t wait till I retire. )But, I probably won’t fish in a boat that small. Great video.
Hey Buddy ! looked like a great couple day camping trip ! that fire on the beach at sunset was perfect. When it's nice down at Martin head it's such a beautiful spot, so you guys got lucky to have that kind of weather, it can quickly become a foggy mess haha Thanks for sharing !
Yeah, for sure, it was rainy and foggy when we got there but turned out just perfect. I'd love to go back but not on a foggy day
I love your videos , I'm in n.b every second weekend and just bought a atv . Hoping to find ice places to camp at. Would love to know about shogomac lake a d irving dam in how to get ti them .
@@waynemackeigan5364 I usually go on Google Earth and plan out my trips by studying the satellite photos. The Quad Nb interactive map is also a great resource
@fiddleheadtech6075 thank you
Would love to know how to get there .
Enjoyed this little series very much. Thanks for sharing
Your are welcome. There is one more to go, we explore some sight in the Sussex valley area.
Beautiful piece of New Brunswick, been going there for over 40 years… a favourite spot.. well done
Thanks, it sure is. It was my first time there, hopefully not the last.
Hey buddy, nice video ! I'm told that hole you saw on low tide trail was mining for gypsum back in the day. Glad you guys enjoyed it ! Cheers !
Rickthorne304 commented that it was an old copper mine but that there was a gypsum mine just up the beach from our camping spot, a little cave in the bank. One thing for sure, it is an impressive hole in the ground, looks like a big funnel with no visible outflow so there must be some subterranean drainage at the bottom. You must have driven by it at one time. Its worth a second look.
I didn't realize there is a rock feature on one of the cliffs that looks like the head of a Martin. Beautiful area.
Yes, it is a beautiful spot and the weather was perfect.
Those were some huge I beams supporting the container bridge.
For sure, that bridge isn't going anywhere.
Your video was truly beautiful and inspiring. As a fellow creator, I appreciate the effort you put into it. Sub and 👍27
Thanks, I really appreciate that.
We were there in August (from Ontario) for 4 days of riding and quiddy falls is the only place we didn't get to see. Just didn't have enough time. Next time for sure it looks amazing ! Thanks for posting.
Quiddy (Wallace) falls is well worth a visit.Spectacular.
The depression that you commented on is described by Abraham Gesner in the late 1700's as a shaft sunk to a depth of 40 ft intersecting a vein of copper 11ft in depth at 30 percent. That is an extremely high percentage if true. Another old mine can be found below your camping site at the end of the beach toward St. Martin's. Just a little hole in the wall that opens up inside the entrance . It doesn't look stable inside. I am told it was a gypsum mine.
Cool info, thanks so much. I knew that hole did not look natural.
Awesome………
Thanks, Martin Head is an awesome place.
Hey Mr fiddlehead it Roger Drisdelle we met in the park and ride in sussex glad to see that you both had fun me and the wife were waiting patiently to see this video come out … are we famous yet we got the wave and our rig made a cameo appearence LOL hope to meet you again someday out on the trails love to watch your adventures and it also gives us ideas as where to explore next
Yup, I remember that. I didn't know if you wanted to be featured so I kept it to a minimum but didn't think you would mind a cameo appearance at Martin Head. Hopefully we will meet again.
I like your riding style, calm and collected haha i ride an 850 and get made fun of for how slow i ride, but i bought that size because i always have my gf or father on the back and am often loaded out with gear and want the torque required to get unstuck if needed, not for trying to get to places "first" lol I'll be checking this place out a.s.a.p , looks like an amazing camping spot ! Thanks for the content
I hear ya. I like to look around when I'm riding the ATV. Just driving fast to get there seems like a waste.
Camped that very spot numerous times over the years with friends and family. Started to get overused in the summer so we haven't been in around a decade. Great video✌️
Thanks. Spots like this are usually empty during the week or in the off season. I was there in October on a weekday, the whole area was deserted.
In the late 80s I remember going all the way through there in a Subaru legacy wagon. Was a great road back then.
There has been some deterioration since then, lol
Hey Buddy ! this brought back a few memories for me, I LOVE that area, I felt bad for ya when it was raining on day one, even if it's just misting, you get soaked, it's like a rain forrest. at the 6min mark you were going over a rugged part of the trail (before you get to the High/Low tide split) and that's where my Father and Brother towed a VW Golf up that hill, young guy was trying to find a camping spot with his gf and got down but couldn't get up haha two SXS's got it up though. I was happy to see the nice weather in the morning, that's when you really got to see just how beautiful that area is. Looked to be very calm too, which is rare for Martin head haha Good Stuff, Looking forward to Pt 2 ! (I'm hoping you guys explore the grave site and light house ruins on the island, AND there is a cave down the beach from your camp, you can go right inside.
Yes, I recognized the spot from your video. That guy must have been brave, there is a tricky spot just past that challenging even for a wheeler. The weather over the next 2 days was great, we explored the island, the low tide and Goose Creek trails and then went to Friars Nose, Poley and a few other places. Ive got it all on the next 3 videos. Thanks, by the way. It was your videos that made me aware of these areas. I hope to get back there again. Impatiently waiting for spring now.
I believe that was a bridge, not a dam.Sherwood dam was about 1/2 mile below that. The old road keeps going on the other side, well before they clear-cut.
There are remnants of a structure on both sides of the stream so you are probably right. I don't know the history but it is surprising what you will come across on these streams. I am always surprised at how fast nature takes over.
@fiddleheadtech6075 Back in the late 80s and early 90s before they cut, we used to cross just below that spot on our wheelers. You probably saw the little pull in a few hundred feet below. It came out half way down the hill on the millroad right before you cross Howard brook. You could go straight across the millrd and up along the brook.
Where does the trail go if you don't pull off to go down into the camp? And it looks like a side by side would not fit through the last part of that trail before you pull off to the camp?
I think that trail went on up to Long Lake but it is pretty much impassable now. Best take a saw. There are always trees down in that area.
@fiddleheadtech6075 I have a sxs but not sure it would fit all the way to that camp. I have been the other direction up to Orser camps with it, but never down to the camp
Great video..was there this summer..took our Side by side and low tide trail..and wow was that a ride! Where exactly did you end up camping..is it off the low tide trail..I'd rather do that then end up at Martins head Island and have the sites full...
We camped on the end of the high tide trail just up the first little hill and up there a few dozen meters. There is another spot just up the trail before you go up the big hill, down a trail to the left a little ways.
We usedto travel that country in the 70s and 80s in 4x4 trucks and jeeps with a couple of clubs...the NB Bushtrampers and the Fog City 4 wheelers. The country around has probably changed a lot since I moved away in 84 but Martin Head hasnt from what I remember. Hope to get back there this year. Are the side trails good for side by sides?
No problem for a side by side on all the trails I saw. Goose Creek trail no problem with a 4 by 4 but I wouldnt try the low and high tide trails with anything but a side by side or wheeler.
Thanks for sharing your trip,I am new to atv ING planning to do a lot of outdoor adventures. May I ask what equipment you use for recording your trips
Go Pro Hero 8 mostly although I have an Akaso sport cam, my Galaxy phone and a canon sure shot, nothing fancy. I have just acquired a new video cam and a trail cam so they should up my game a bit. I also have a DJI mini 2 drone I use for aerial footage and I track my trips with a Garmin GPS.
@fiddleheadtech6075 thanks
I drove down to Martin Head in a 2 wheel drive GMC pickup back in July of 1978. Beautiful spot! The only other time I've been there was with my parents and grandmother when I was about 6 or so. Back then we drove there in a Hillman car. I remember there was at least one other group having a big bonfire on the beach that night! It would be a great trip on an ATV!
You might get down the Goose Creek Road in a 2 wheel drive but it would be challenging coming back up on a wet day, no problem with 4 wheel drive. Nowadays low and high tide trails are best left to wheelers and side by sides.
That was a long time ago! Even back then I don't think it would have easy getting back up the hill on a wet day
Thought you were going on your side when you made that oh statement and the way the camera angle was going.
I grunt a lot when I have a heavy topload because I have to keep shifting my weight and some of those trails are a bit physically demanding
I was there to visit on my Rubicon this past summer, what awesome views! Plan on going back in 2025 and camping there. Awesome trip! Outdoor Paulie
Yeah it is one of New Brunswicks semi hidden treasures.
What area are you riding?
@@RobertThomas-o9l North Carleton County NB, Monquart stream headwaters
New to your channel, love your vids. What do you have for bear protection if any
I have bear spray I keep in the tent at night.
Downstream from the bridge is "Richardsons dam"
Was that above or below Sills Brook?
@@fiddleheadtech6075 approximately 46°16'03"N 67°04'21"W. Used to be great place to "catch your supper......."
Not like that now. It’s all cut . Terrible 😢.
A lot of clearcuts in the last few years
Great video and great music. Would love to know the name of the song.
The intro song is Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, an old public domain hymn. The drone music is just some stuff I made up, I don;t think I ever gave it a name
@fiddleheadtech6075 Thank you. I recognized the music but couldn't think of the name. Much appreciated.🙂
Great video, and beautiful country! I do recognize a few places!
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Nice scenery!
It would be better visibility on a sunny day but we cant pick the weather.
I agree but you gotta take advantage when you can no mather what the weather is. Actually, we've met you on a rainy day in Sussex :D
Food tastes so good when you've been outdoors all day!
Very true, even the humble hot dog.
Do you have coordinates for the falls?
lat 46.34 long -67.27 follow the stream up from Orser Sport camp on Howard Brook Road.
At 49:15 on your left there used to be a bridge across the Keswick probably 100 years ago. Just before that is "the lower crossing"
Yes, you can see the remnants. Wasn't there a dam there too?
At 47:52 on your right, back in the bushes are remnants of Mularchy camp. Bed springs, stove pipe, bottles, cans etc
OK, cool, I'll have to have a look for that. Nice to have some historical knowledge. I've only been going up in that area for the last 8 years so its nice to hear about this stuff.
At 45:12 to your left is Sherwood dam
How long ago I wonder?
What road did you camp on?
It is the headwaters of the Howard Brook that flows into the Keswick, not the Becaguimic Howard Brook. Leave the Mill Road and take the road that will take you to Fraggle Rock and Broken Bridge. Swing left when you get to the head of Howard Brook, just past the big clear cut with the newly planted trees.
I have always heard there are no fish in that lake.
Haha, I can confirm. A guy told me it was full of fish but I guess it has been fished out. There is a path that goes clear down to the outlet.
We always called that water where the broken bridge is the "Rustine"
It is clear brown tinted water, so very apt.
Love you’re videos, bunch of family and friends having fun! Hubby and I go out on the sxs, we’re in our 60s, and love the heck out of it, lol, been in a few dicey places, like was told later , it was a technical course, off we go, should have been signs, but we got out safe, kinda stiff next day, 😂, keep them coming, love the great outdoors, so much to see,, Nova Scotia here😊
Hey, thats great. Glad you like the videos. I've been in a few dicey places too but I try to be careful. When you get to my age, walking out can be a problem.
I am really enjoying your videos. My husband and I used to camp all over before he passed.
Happy you enjoying them. I'm trying to put out a video every 2 weeks.
@fiddleheadtech6075 you make we want to buy a four wheeler 😊
So good to see we still have mixed forests in that neck of the woods, eh
There are a lot of plantations but they still encourage some mixed forests, thankfully.
Very nice scenery , been riding in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, New Brunswick is on the bucket list, its not that far from Ontario, thanks for views
We have a lot of trails and many clubs. You can contact QuadNB or go on the website for more info or the websites for individual clubs for more detailed info. Ontario has spectacular scenery for sure but New Brunswick has a wealth of understated beautiful spots to visit, accessible by ATV. Thanks so much for watching.
Many a destination trips have been had here with me and my wheeling friends
Its a great spot for a picnic or a camp but I would be nervous there with small kids or reckless drinkers
Loving your drone footage. We are so lucky to live in such an abundant, beautiful place.
You are right there. Yes, the drone gives a totally different perspective.
Be careful shaking a dead tree like that to knock it down. Very often the top portion will break off and come down. #widowmaker
True enough. I should be more cautious when out there, especially when I am alone.
very nice place may have to there next summer
Hi Roger, you should definitely come up our way next summer. There are lots of good trails and places to see.
@ we went up for 3 days to juniper that was great had fun until we spooked a big bull moose at 10 :30 at night coming back grom chimn
from chimney rock he was on the trail with just hos back side showing i tried going around him and he charged at us… lets just say a polaris can outrun a bull moose our night riding idea was not a good one… lol
@@rogerdrisdelle5645 Wow, that was quite an adventure. Yes, going in the opposite direction is always a good policy when encountering a moose.
