I have had to reduce the power limit on my H16.0 E G2 as RCB was tripping and I am waiting for installer to reply. After following your video I found that in the inverter menu Grid Power limit was not in amps but 100% so I have changed it 70% and will wait to see tonight if it trips again.
great to hear that the video helped. a 6kW inverter should be on a 32a MCB
@@iameccles Was I right to reduce the grid power limit to 70% and not change the Battery max charge current? Experts on FB are saying to change the Battery charge limit. ?

I have an ESS system and cube battery, but there are things I would like to clarify, I have no manual and do not know where to get one. I tried to speak to FOX and was basically to F-off and contact the installer they would not even talk to me and cut me off. When I have spent tens of thousands of pounds with them I expect better. I can follow manuals but they do not give me one or even the installer manuals. Is this correct or just a run around. I wanted to know how to correct the internal clock as when I need to force Charge, the time is different from the app. I have tried to use their Email system and open a query but it was ignored. I need a software upgrade to enable me to set time for selling my excess at specific times. But without the upgrade it cannot be done..
Ignoring the size and profile, are there any differences is charge/discharge rate between the EP11 set up and the EQ4800 set up? Does either have any advantages over the other ?
@ 33:10 you mentioned being able to reduce the startup voltage on single phase inverters being only really applicable to 3 panel systems. But the counter to that is surely that reducing startup voltage is a boon to all users as it improves the low light performance across the board??
if you have more than 3 panels you reach the startup voltage very close to when the sun rises in the morning. With only 3 panels you have wait longer until you can get to the startup voltage which requires more light so I think the point is that only small arrays will notice the improvement but yes technically all arrays will benefit in some way but larger arrays this means you get minutes more generation which isn't anyway too impressive.
Would kindly post a tutorial as how you did this please?

If there is an existing pool of 1 , tb ssd which has data on it and now if we add another 1tb SSD to this existing pool than it automatically goes for raid1 and we cannot change to raid0 if we want to unless we move the data from Existing ssd and create fresh 2 drives pool than only we can select the raid mode which we want 😢
00:32:30 with software versioning control, many use version number pattern to denote major, substantial (worth doing) and minor with some pattern like 00.00.00, eg 01.23.45. Hence signalled to consumers version significance. To save Fox time resource, it could be substantial and major versions would become available for a consumer to apply from fox cloud.
Good info. Would be interesting how you've been going on with the HP so far. Cheers
What trigger did you use in HA? I can't find any documentation about the doorbell fingerprint scanner feature in the Protect HA integration.
The trigger is "When a webhook payload is received" which is triggered via the unifi alarm manager. Some details in the comments here www.reddit.com/r/Ubiquiti/comments/1gkvw50/nfc_and_fingerprint_support_released_in_protect_ea/
hello sir, been waiting for this feature forever. got the update and the fingerprints setup. how did you connect it to HA? is there a DIY?
Hey i followed the steps on this post www.reddit.com/r/Ubiquiti/comments/1gkvw50/nfc_and_fingerprint_support_released_in_protect_ea/ Which means I've got an automation in HA which unlocks the door. it's triggered via a webhook. Then setup unifi protect alarm to call the webhook when a registered fingerprint is detected.
Do you need the unifi hub for this to work? Trying to derive the webhook details to get it working for my homey.
Hey No need for a unifi access hub, I have unifi protect to fire a webhook to home assistant when a registered fingerprint is detected. I'm not sure if homey supports webhooks but you might be able to use this post to help point you in the correct direction. i followed the steps on this post www.reddit.com/r/Ubiquiti/comments/1gkvw50/nfc_and_fingerprint_support_released_in_protect_ea/ Which means I've got an automation in HA which unlocks the door. it's triggered via a webhook. Hi, I currently have the Fox H1 6.0kW Hybrid Inverter G2. With 2 arrays and battery storage on the house. I want get 4x pannels on the garage with an inverter in there but with no extra battery storage. Max 2kw .. Can I use a different fox inverter and the solar generated charge the battery on the house? If you want to add just 4 panels I'd buy a string inverter like this as no CT will be needed and it's a simple install theecosupermarket.co.uk/product-category/solar-inverters/fox-ess-solar-inverters/fox-single-mppt/

I've noticed that the USA market has shorter stacks than other markets. So I wonder if this is why the EQ5000 doesn't stack so high, perhaps it is a USA-only datasheet.

I have a few Fox inverters running in parallel linked to a Fox EMS (Smart Logger-A) Would you have any pointers about getting it or these to talk to the HACS integration at all? Amazing. I like your do a video how to upgrade to larger drive or add extra disk on existing pool?
I hope that Octopus work very close with Home Assistant and make their open source otherwise it is yet another standard to add to the fragmented mess.
Sadly I fear it's going to be another standard only used by big tech. At least it's license free which means HA could be an option.

Sure, I'm doing an install tomorrow for someone who wants Modbus so I'll record the process.
I am after the same information. I found this FoxESS Smart L 3.0 LAN communication module as an optional extra but not sure if it will do the job. Hoping someone can confirm. Everything on the Internet suggests you have to make your own device from a series of components.

This would be very helpful except it's impossible to read anything on your screen because the text is miniscule.
Yeh i'm going to need to record as HD not SD it appears.
@@iameccles Anyway thanks for doing it. Note that it's also out of date because these days the Cloud installation instructions say to "simply re-use your unique inverter_serial_number" in the device_id field. I managed to set it up a few days ago but today it has stopped working. It's not the most solid integration, which is a big disappointment because it was *the* main reason I have started down the very complicated HA path.
I partially agree with Gary, but managed to follow your steps with some extra effort to overcome the difficulty mentioned :)
Do you recommend a 0.5C charge rate for general operation?
Each battery has it's own max and recommended charge amps which give the end user or installer a good place to start tuning the charge parameters to extend lifespan. I personally look at the battery size, solar array size kWp and any cheap overnight charging slots like Octopus go and lower the charge rate so it works for all three variables. I advise to be careful setting to as low as it takes your battery to charge in a cheap window because this also limit solar battery charging. If you're an advanced user with home assistant integration you can completely automate all the parameters to give you max charging during the day on solar and limit the charge rate to the amps needed to get a full charge. What I love is that you can tweak it to be just perfect for your use case. All that being said, you can install it and leave it at 35-40amps charge current and still have 15-20 years for fantastic performance out of your battery system.
Lucky, mine was £2757 for 80 sqm end terrace. When the grant was £5k they wanted £1700, will wait until next year.
Where is the discount code ?

I'm close to pressing the button on an order, and the main reason for going to Fox was the 10Kw inverter. Will there be a 10Kw inverter in this range?
Fox already has a K10 for single phase or you can go with a H3-10 (not the pro version) which is a 10kW three-phase hybrid inverter.
@@iameccles Apologies, I'm interested in going for the PowerQ that's about to be released in the UK. I'm looking at an integrated 10Kw inverter in the system also, what is the maximum amount of battery storage for the system at launch. I currently have a Givenergy solution with 2 x 9.5kw batteries and a 3 kW inverter. The driver here is we are adding an initial 7.5kw pv array on a new extension being built, and it's a struggle for the existing system to handle 16kw pv.
@@paul-joseph details haven’t been made public yet but the power cube is expected to to be upto 40kWh storage. Inverter sizes not yet released.
Thanks for your clear procedure. I have been asked by UKPN to shutdown my PV system for a week while they take voltage readings. Presumably I follow this procedure and then a week later start everything up again. Will there be any issues with the system being down for a week apart from lost export payments
Nope, that will be fine. Foxess batteries when disconnected are happy for 3-4 months before needing a charge.
How to connect 2 inverters series T? T10G3 and T15G3. Can I work with one DTSU666? Thank you for your reply.
The battery in my upcoming installation (probably around December) is the ECS4300H (M + 3S) ... does the 'H' mean that it has the integrated heater? & would it be compatible with that new inverter module if it happens to arrive first?
Very helpful as always thanks both
This is awesome! But my understanding is that using ZFS pools eliminates most of the key benefits that standard Unraid provides (easily expandable pools, mixed drive sizes, and non-striped data). However, I've also heard that ZFS pools have much better data integrity against issues like bit rot and are able to do better snapshots. Is this all correct? And is this why you're using ZFS pools even though you could just do the regular Unraid setup?
hey, for me the ZFS scrubbing for data integrity and self-healing nature to protect against bit rot was the main driver. There is no data integrity checking with the unraid arrays and with 100TB of movies and TV shows all painfully ripped from disk I want to preserve my collection even though I could just rerip them off the disk it's a pain. I have a monthly scrub which means I sleep well knowing I won't go to watch an old movie in years time only to find part of it corrupted.
@@iameccles - Awesome, thanks for the reply! I think I agree with your outlook, so I'm going to try this same thing. Thank you again for showing us how!
Hello, I have a question. I own a FoxESS T3-G3 inverter and I am from Romania. Recently, a large electricity company entered our market and started installing photovoltaic systems. However, I am struggling to find reviews or get any useful information from the supplier regarding this brand, FoxESS. Can I install an external battery with this inverter? If so, do I need a special device? Are only FoxEss batteries compatible, or can I use other battery brands as well? Thank you very much!
That inverter is a solar string-only inverter, you would need a H3 hybrid to dc couple batteries or simply add a H3 and use it as a battery inverter and keep the current inverter to handle the solar dc to ac work.
