Ya know TF2 story may have ended (or not cuz they still say they are slowly doing it) by being sidelined by Valve, but I'll take that 1000 times more than the slop Overwatch has become

When u started showing just the old videos withoute saying anything i actually started tearing up.... I tought i was utterly sanitised these days thanks to media, turns out, its just i havent seen anything as good in a while.

The reason Overwatch 2 has crumbled so horribly is because the over hype for Overwatch 2 was so big that the company got so blinded by money and abused that so they use overwatch 2 as a cash grab now where as Overwatch 1 was more than a passion project. Also the fans have influenced the public eye as well as the developers into changing so many insignificant things to better fit their new play style. As TastyMeatChunks said there’s no soul left, theres no love in overwatch too no matter how much they try to show it. Also why introduce your biggest and your leading project just to cancel it and disappoint your fan base, for money thats the entire reason. I miss when I was so invested in Overwatch’s events, lore, and seasons but now the game is better when it’s off my playstation’s storage.

My favourite cinematics has to be Dragons, the Reinhardt one and the absolute masterpiece that is the Doomfist trailer, THAT is an Overwatch animation.

It’s the reason why I played Genshin impact archon quests because it’s more story focused because of the arc conquest. It’s more of a overwatch 2 PVE or in this main campaign should’ve been.

What Overwatch story is dead? No way... it is almost like the story has been dead for 5 years or something.

I think that As You Are short story comic has helped make sure the story stayed dead and only promoted “that stuff” instead.

You know, I’m in the development of conducting a fan made story that revolves around five characters, of tragic origins, crossing paths with each other as they will become caught in a conflict between the forces of good and evil. The story is dark, brutal, bizarre, yet it surprisingly has a heart. There are five themes to the story: Purpose, Faith, Humanity, Revenge, and Redemption. I’m just bringing this up because I thought maybe someone would have interest in it. I’m doing my first draft and I’m currently still writing Part Two. There are five parts to the story.

And it's still wild to me that we've barely got any lore/background on Ramattra, probably my favorite OW2 character, since he came out. All we've really gotten is that he was once a student of Mondatta and is the leader of Null Sector.

I’m so sad that overwatch has become just a money generator. I know a business needs money. But my friends and I got into overwatch for its lore. And seeing the story take a backseat to cosmetics feels bad. The Juno trailer really solidified that for me. If they ever decide to make pve or a story mode it might be too late anyway.

Wake up call: There never was a deeper PvE plan for Overwatch. There never was a plan for furthering the Story. There never was an Overwatch 2. There was just a move by Blizzard to put a more profitable monetization scheme on one of their most popular games.

Dragons singlehandedly got me to buy the game. How the mighty have fallen.

I tried watching Juno cinematic because I used to like OW cinematics a lot, specially Sigma's , but It was so boring I gave up on watching.

I think people forget that Blizzard doesn’t have to create the cinematic if they don’t want to. It was a privilege to get what we had. If you don’t like what they’re doing now, don’t support them, don’t play their game. You may think I’m on the side of blizzard but I’m not. I wish they would continue the cinematics but they aren’t. I wish we had gotten the pve game mode we were promised but we weren’t. And you know what I did in response to that? Stopped supporting the game. P.S. I think Jay3 was the worst choice you’ve could’ve chosen because he is constantly always talking about how much he wants cinematics to come back every time he sees a TikTok talking about the story.

Blizzard really badly dropped the ball on Overwatch. I still play regularly but mostly for the battle pass or to fvck around with friends. I want the lore to come back. And sure the new characters are fun but they do not seem to match with the existent lore of the game. Everyone LOVED the cinematics and got a really loyal and tight fanbase that they are now losing. Big streamers like Flats are starting to play other games more often due to the lack of respect and dignity Blizzard has shown. I think it is a game waiting to die if they don't fix it soon. As long as the team does not care, the fans and players won't either.

Screw the devs (and more specifically, their corporate overlords) so much for what they did to this game.

honestly the main story is dead with most quality writers leaving that made the overwatch universe :( and the new ones story are kinda short, or mostly focus of lgbtq hinting of realtionships or diversity sigh

Sigma and Ramattra are, in terms of lore, my favourite. I love the Sigma origin vid. Thats not even a full cinematic and it had such an impact on culture in past few years. The fact that neither of these characters have a dedicated cinematic is a crime. Also minor totally unrelated side note but why the hell does Juno look like that. You could design an alien to look all kinds of ways, but they chose to make her look like a normal girl. When I saw her trailer for the first time I legit thought she was a skin for Tracer or Dva or Kiriko.

They just don’t see a point anymore. PvE is cancelled and thus there is no reason to make these (I assume) costly animations for something that doesn’t earn them money. And as someone who got into it that way, it saddens me.

wait there was a story Easy joke aside, it always annoyed me that almost nothing in Overwatch -as a playable game where the characters interact with each other- is canon. Why make a robot monk who defies gravity and heals people with his balls if "that's not actually what he does"?

Screw Blizzard. Getting rid of the animation and lore teams was a dumb mistake. I hope those animators and others found other jobs. As someone who is getting into animation and the side of story telling. One of the best feelings is to see characters and world come to life. I feel bad for the whole lore team. They planted a sapling but didn't get to see it grow. You can see the love and care that they had for the characters. I will admit I started in OW2 but I didn't come because it's F2P, I came because I learnt of the lore. I don't want to see transformers in OW. Not every game needs collabs and items. I wish I got to experience golden OW. I also don't get how Blizzard managed to throw away such a beautiful piece of work.

I literally forgot that Overwatch even did those 3D cinematics 💀 Last I remember, I was waiting for Illari’s cinematic which I just now see never came… Just completely lost interest in OW because there’s just no story anymore, it was the first thing that even got me excited for playing the game

The Rule34 animations are better quality than what Blizzard is churning out now

The only way to solve this is after Blizzard gets bankrupt while thrown around by a couple of corporations trying to make an easy buck. Then, someone who actually respects the lore and the characters will make a decent story and we can regard the Activision/Microsoft years as non-canon. Last time I played was when OW 1 closed and everytime I see stuff like this I'm more than happy with that.
