    I get a new car every 3 years, and I was interested in an EV 3 years ago, and I'm I've just ordered a Cupra born. But 3 years ago I went with the hybrid face lift ioniq, brilliant car, got all the bells, and has average me 70mpg over 30k. The reason I never went EV then is I didn't think the charger networks was ready. Not to mention I didnt want a Tesla, too common, too boring imo. This time round the Cupra birn really couldn't my eye, i wanted a smaller car that could do a real range of 200 plus, that looked good and was fun, it to ked all the boxes, then I looked a public charging and the pricing out me off, yet again, but with some research I found out the Tesla network is open now, and even with out membership they undercut the rest, but with it, wow a no brainer, and even more so when you get into the france also the born is supported by Tesla plug and charge which is nice a bonus, zapmap and charge card, and may be electroverse to support plug and play. With the born comes iirc £750 BP pulse credit, Cupra, so ill be using that and when i need to pay out my pocket, I'll be Tesla charging almost always. Well we are actually thinking of saving the BP pulse credit it for Spain, Germany, Austria, basically make touring Europe, which we do anyway in the summers, feel like it's free. But I've not yet looked into if the credit is redeemable in Europe, but I can't see why not. If not it's not an issue it just mean using the Fred I'm England, and using Tesla in Europe, which given European Tesla is cheaper than uk it would actually work out cheaper. But I just like the idea of not buying fuel when on my hols

    The simple answer to the charger cable issue is to legislate that all manufacturers put the charging ports on the lefthand rear of all vehicles, problem permanently solved. In the mean time non tesla drivers could carry a charging extension cable to extend the one on the tesla charger to fit their vehicle.

    Greetings from Oxford. As a fellow i3 owner, this video was of particular interest to me. Although I have had my i3 for 5 years, I have only used public chargers about 6 times. Although I still love my i3, it is not a great road trip car as DC charging is limited to 50kW, but is great to see that it is still viable and looks to work well with the Tesla network, even though the charge port is on the wrong side of the car.

      Only a issue at the older Tesla V2 and V3 chargers. New Tesla V4 chargers (the solid white ones, not the ones with the hole in the middle) all have longer cables that should reach either side of most cars. So no reason to aggravate Tesla drivers anymore.

    Just give up pushing EV's, nobody can afford them and nobody want's them.

    • @teslatalesuk
      @teslatalesuk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @malfunction8165, Thanks for sharing your opinion. It's important to address some common misconceptions about electric vehicles (EVs) with current data and trends. Regarding affordability, while the upfront cost of EVs can be higher than traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, this gap is closing rapidly. The UK Department for Transport has highlighted that the total cost of ownership for EVs is becoming competitive with ICE vehicles due to lower fuel costs, maintenance expenses, and government incentives. Additionally, BloombergNEF reports that EV prices are expected to reach parity with ICE vehicles by the mid-2020s due to decreasing battery costs. As for demand, contrary to the belief that nobody wants EVs, the demand for them is actually rising. In the UK, EV sales have been growing significantly. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reported that battery electric vehicle (BEV) registrations increased by 76.3% in 2021 compared to the previous year. Globally, the International Energy Agency (IEA) noted that EV sales doubled in 2021, reaching 6.6 million units and representing nearly 9% of the global car market. Government support and policies also play a crucial role. The UK government is committed to supporting the transition to EVs, with plans to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030. This policy shift is mirrored in many other countries worldwide, reflecting a strong governmental push towards sustainable transportation. Consumer interest is another important factor. Surveys indicate growing interest in EVs. A study by Deloitte found that 50% of UK consumers are considering an EV for their next vehicle purchase. This trend is supported by increasing awareness of environmental issues and the benefits of EVs. Overall, while there are challenges to address, the trajectory for EV adoption is positive, with increasing affordability, rising demand, strong government support, and growing consumer interest.

      @@teslatalesuk Thank you for your reply. There are not enough materials for every body to have an ev. The environmental damage mining causes is catastrophic. There isn't the grid capacity. The batteries can't be recycled, an 8-10 year battery life shouldn't be charged above 80% and not run down bellow 20%, so only 60% capacity. Battery damage will in many cases right the vehicle off as uneconomical, the batteries costing more than the vehicle is worth. And would you buy a second hand EV? Really? No it's all about control, geo fencing? What's all that about? Sorry sonny, you can't leave your neighbor hood, it's another lockdown. @Davisdavies8637 Firstly, thank you for taking the time to compile a constructive and honest reply. I appreciate that it’s important to have the ability to respond in a none argumentative manner and to have the ability to debate. It’s not just a case of letters after my name it’s a vocation in life. I’m not a “Greenie” nor do I wish to push anything on anyone. I read and analysis researched and peer read articles, look at reports and figures which are available to all. I do have a petrol car that I use for when my wife has the EV, I’m not saying EV’s are the answer but they are a step forward in the right direction. Production costs and battery manufacturing need further investment and development especially the mining of the raw materials but it is getting there. What I want is a sustainable future for my children and future generations to come, if reducing our carbon footprint will help then that has to be a positive. As I’ve said in previous comments, maybe a synthetic fuel which has zero emissions is the way forward who knows. Anyway once again, thank you for sharing your thoughts.

    Don't talk rubbish you are obviously a EV supporter without looking at the facts. They aren't good for the environment for various reasons, all of which are available to read about if you were to take the trouble. However I doubt you or your fellow EV supporters will because you won't like what you read. EV's are a pain in the derriere when it come to range, and affordable charging, amongst other things. I concede some of them are nice to drive, but their disadvantages are many, not least their high prices.

    • @teslatalesuk
      @teslatalesuk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @lordhamptonwick5320 It's quite amusing that you assume I don't engage with the facts. As an academic, I rely on verifiable data and reputable sources to form my opinions. Studies from the UK and the USA show that while the production of EVs does have a higher initial environmental cost due to battery manufacturing, their overall lifetime emissions are significantly lower compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, EVs produce less than half the global warming emissions of comparable gasoline cars over their lifetime, including manufacturing, operation, and disposal. It's true that EV range and charging infrastructure can be limiting factors. However, advancements are rapidly being made. For instance, the UK's Department for Transport reported that the number of public charging points increased by 24% in 2022 alone. Additionally, many new EV models now offer ranges that exceed 300 miles on a single charge, addressing earlier concerns about range anxiety. The cost of EVs is often cited as a disadvantage. However, when considering the total cost of ownership-including fuel savings, tax incentives, and lower maintenance costs-EVs can be more economical in the long run. The International Council on Clean Transportation found that, in the UK, the total cost of ownership for EVs is now lower than that for ICE vehicles in many cases. As you conceded, EVs are indeed enjoyable to drive, often offering superior torque and a quieter ride compared to their ICE counterparts. This aspect is widely recognised and appreciated by users across various reviews and consumer reports. I encourage you to explore these sources and data to get a more comprehensive understanding of the EV landscape. It's essential to base discussions on facts rather than assumptions.

    Stupid is an excellent choice and here's why. EV's are more costly to purchase, have less range, cost more to maintain, don't last as long in use and leave a ecological disaster on disposal. But these issues are minor in comparison to 1/ the damage to the environment and especially the ground water caused by the massive amount of mining which brings me to the biggest problem. 2/ Lives of children as young as 7 being destroyed and yes lost in the mining of these minerals. And if you don't care about those lives stupid doesn't explain how ignorant or self absorbed you really are.

      @reggosse3901 Let’s clear up some points with simple facts. Yes, EVs can cost more at first, but they save you money over time with cheaper fuel, tax breaks, and less need for repairs. In the UK, owning an EV is often cheaper than owning a regular gas car. About range and charging, new EVs can go over 300 miles on a single charge. Plus, charging stations are growing fast. The UK added 24% more public charging points in 2022 alone. EVs need less maintenance because they have fewer moving parts. Studies show EV owners spend about half as much on repairs compared to gas car owners. For the environment, making EVs can pollute more at first, but they pollute much less over their lifetime. EVs produce less than half the emissions of gas cars according to the Union of Concerned Scientists. Mining for EV batteries is a real issue, especially in places like the Congo where there are serious problems with child labor. But efforts are being made to source materials more ethically and to use less harmful materials. Recycling EV batteries is also getting better to reduce waste. While EVs have challenges, they also have big benefits. It’s important to keep improving how we make and recycle them. It's funny you think I’m not smart. Unlike just googling stuff quickly, I base my views on solid research and real data. Forming a true opinion means looking at all the facts, not just picking what you like.

    Perfect timing at least there will be more accessible now EV cars are down 99% on sales

    • @teslatalesuk
      @teslatalesuk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ashleymoore9063 The claim that EV sales are down 99% is not accurate. In fact, electric vehicle (EV) sales have shown significant growth in 2024 both in the UK and worldwide. In the UK, EV sales have continued to rise. As of January 2024, the UK reached a milestone of 1 million battery electric vehicles (BEVs) on the road. In 2024 alone, it is projected that over 414,000 new BEVs will be sold, accounting for more than 20% of all new car sales. Globally, the trend is similar. In January 2024, EV sales reached a record high, with over 1 million units sold worldwide in just one month, marking a 69% increase compared to the previous January. The International Energy Agency (IEA) projects that by the end of 2024, global EV sales will reach approximately 17 million units, showing robust growth across major markets such as China, Europe, and the United States. These figures clearly demonstrate that the EV market is expanding rapidly, contrary to the claim of a 99% decline.

    • @onlineo2263
      @onlineo2263 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What nonsense is this? Ev sales are not down 99 %. Car brands in the UK now have to hit a zero emissions target for a 22% of there UK sales (there are some exemptions and they can buy credits from Tesla or Chinese ev makers etc). The fine is £9000 per car that you are short. This has made certain car brands massively reduce the price of its evs, and consequently most other ev brands also have to reduce prices to compete.

    • @teslatalesuk
      @teslatalesuk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @onlineo2263, you're spot on. The idea that EV sales are down 99% is just plain wrong. Let's break it down with some real numbers. Globally, EV sales have been booming. In 2022, over 10 million electric cars were sold worldwide, which is a 35% increase from the previous year. EVs now make up about 14% of all new cars sold globally, up from 9% in 2021. In the UK, the trend is similar. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reported that battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales grew by 40.1% in 2022 compared to the previous year. BEVs accounted for 16.6% of all new car registrations in the UK in 2022. You're right about the UK setting zero emissions targets. Car brands need 22% of their sales to be zero-emission vehicles, and if they miss that target, they face a hefty fine of £9,000 per car. This has indeed led to some brands slashing prices to boost their EV sales and avoid penalties. Tesla, for instance, has cut prices on their Model 3 and Model Y multiple times in 2023 to stay competitive. Other brands like Volkswagen and Nissan are doing the same. This competition is great for consumers because it means more affordable EV options. Plus, manufacturers are making their EVs better with longer ranges, faster charging, and more features to attract buyers. So, in reality, the EV market is growing fast, both globally and in the UK, and the regulatory push is making EVs more accessible and affordable for everyone.

    It looks like a deep dive into Tesla's size versus their impact locally and globally, and other industries size and their impacts on local and global. I think you're going to find that Tesla is still ahead of the game for local and global impact from other than most other industries, but nobody is under the scrutiny like Tesla is. I am not a Tesla Fanboy by the way. I'm just saying be fair across the board you're going to pick on one pick on all of them. I wonder if Germany has any plastics industries or petroleum industries? Because if you look at the damage done by those two industries alone, the Earth will never recover. The plastic. That's everywhere and the petroleum that gets spilled. They never get cleaned up. If these countries aren't 100% reusable IE glass, aluminum or metal containers then they have a much bigger problem than Tesla.

    • @teslatalesuk
      @teslatalesuk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You raise some very valid points about Tesla's impact compared to other industries. It's true that Tesla often faces more scrutiny, which can sometimes overshadow the positive contributions they're making to the EV market and sustainability efforts. Fairness in criticism is important, and it's essential to hold all industries accountable for their environmental impact. germany, like many countries, does have significant plastics and petroleum industries, and the environmental damage caused by these sectors is substantial. The issues with plastic pollution and oil spills are indeed global challanges that require a lot of attention and action. Tesla's role in pushing forward electric vehicle technology is commendable, but you're right that we need to consider the broader context and address environmental impacts across all industries to make a real difference. Thanks for bringing these important points to the discussion!

    the jig is up for all you "green economy " fruitcakes. it's not sustainable, it's not renewable and it certainly is no where near "zero emission".the people reject your nonsense preaching so much so that "green" political parties are getting annihilated at elections everywhere. superior technology doesn't need to be shoved down people's throat through mandates and taxpayers money ...superior technology sells itself....

    • @teslatalesuk
      @teslatalesuk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @johnslims224, it's interesting you think that way, but let's look at the facts here. First off, the green economy is very much sustainable and renewable. Renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydro are not only growing but are also becoming more efficient and cost-effective. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), renewable energy capacity worldwide increased by 10.3% in 2022 alone. Regarding zero emissions, while it's true that no energy source is completely free of emissions when you consider the entire lifecycle, the emissions from renewables are significantly lower than those from fossil fuels. Electric vehicles (EVs), for example, have zero tailpipe emissions and, over their lifetime, produce much fewer greenhouse gases compared to traditional combustion engine vehicles, even when accounting for the electricity generation mix. As for political support, green parties have seen mixed results globally, but in many regions, their influence is growing. For example, in the 2021 German federal election, the Green Party secured the third-largest share of votes and is part of the coalition government. In many places, people are increasingly aware of the importance of sustainable policies. Lastly, superior technology does indeed sell itself, but initial investments and incentives are often necessary to overcome market barriers and achieve economies of scale. This was true for many now-commonplace technologies, such as the internet and mobile phones, which also benefited from early government support. So, rather than dismissing the green economy as "nonsense," it might be worth considering the substantial and growing body of evidence supporting its viability and benefits.

    • @johnslims224
      @johnslims224 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@teslatalesuk I appreciate your, albeit intentionally confusionatory enthousiastic response but it I'm afraid it's lacking a lot of nuance. First and foremost it is dishonest to add "hydro" to the mix when talking about so called "new" renewables as they have been around since forever and have been implemented wherever possible (and almost impossible) and not always without major environmental impacts...Norway loves to boast about being the EV nirvana of the world but is less vocal about the fact that about 90% of their electric power comes from hydro due to its very favorable topography and is therefore also extremely cheap (also not mentioning that their sovereign fund is made of trillions earned through selling oil and gas to the world that makes SO MANY of the consumer goods they -and the entire world- consumes ). The fact that renewable energy capacity worldwide grew by 10% in 2022 only means that taxpayer money went to finance an increase of 10% more windmills/solarpanels/-or electric dams if you want to include them. capacity and efficiency are two different metrics.And we haven't even touched the problem of "failover" capacity...because at night when the wind don't blow the green dream turns to nightmare real quick and yes batteries and hydrogen conversion etc but you know full well that those are just pipedreams. EV's don't emit less greenhouse gases than ICE vehicles because their lifespan (as we are seeing now) is much shorter than ICE vehicles. Once the batteries degrade (and they tend to do so quite quickly) you're left with an unusable car because replacing the battery is often more expensive than the car itself so they end up at the scrapyard...that is if they didn't end up there even sooner after a minor accident that made them unrepearable due to -the mere possibility of-thermal runaway. add to that the way more frequent tyre replacing due to the higher weight, extreme torque etc that adds an immense amount of fine particles in the air... CO2 is plant food, it is used in greenhouses to boost plantgrowth and CO2 makes up 0.04% of our atmosphere....0.04% The levels of CO2 in the atmosphere have been way way higher in past times but you have to look further in the past than 200 years and the beginning of the industrial revolution. The climate has NEVER NÓT CHANGED...the climate will always evolve and change but NOT because we burn oil or because our cows fart. How arrogant and imbecil are we to believe that solar flares and the caprices of the earth's inner mantle etc are somehow inferior to what we can control? Don't you see that this is all a scam for big business to comodify CO2 and soon all other natural "things" and turn them into financial products? Want to keep on jesetting as a "philantrocapitalistic billionnaire "around the world and raping the planet ...just offset your carbon... buy CO2 credits we just PULLED OUT OF OUR AXX and lecture the world about eating meat rather than your industrially prepared genetically modified soja crap with fake blood. You want to hail 'die grüne"?...a party that has been promoting an ever intensifying war with Russia ? A party of which Annelina Baerbock said she pledged UNLIMITED support to Ukraniane and couldn't care less about the German population? Those german "GREENS"? Ecology has been highjacked by unscrupulous politicians and big business and renamed "CLIMATOLOGY" because that is something they have been able to make a "business" off. Ecology is about smarter consuming, about recycling and upcycling and repairability ....do you hear politicians scream about the "RIGHT TO REPAIR" and making products "FUTURE PROOF" ....no....because that is bad for BIG business....if you keep your car for 30 years you're a worthless costumer...if you buy an electric car that you need to discard of after 7 years you're golden. I have a large garden with greenhouses and cultivate a wide variety of (BIO) vegetables and also some fruits. I have 3 chickens that live well and give me about 2 to 3 eggs a day. I understand nature and I try , increasingly so, to be selfsufficient... The internet was an invention of DARPA and mobile phones are now personal tracking devices that you cannot own without obligatory identification for your SIM card to be activated....because of bad people using telephones to ignite bad things off course (that's the way they told us right?...we have to know who because of bad T3R03is people). But nonetheless the internet was a better way of communicating than the minitel (in france) and the cell phone was a better way of communicating by phone everywhere else. maybe these technologies benefited from some government push at the beginning but the big difference is that the government never threatened landlines to be cut for whomever that didn't switch to cellphones.... That is however what is happening to ICE car owners. They are saying that after X there will be no more ICE cars and basically F-you if you need a diesel car because you are driving 1000 miles a week and need the most fuel efficient and reliable vehicle money can buy.... the green economy is an invention of wall street that has been absorbed and abused by hollow and corrupt politicans that wouldn't think twice to sell their mother for another run as senator or congresman/woman. the secret of scuccess in life is understanding what the other person is trying to obtain from you by saying X or doing Y. with politicians of the '2024' era it's extremely easy...THEY'RE ALWAYS TRYING TO FUCK YOU. You are the biggest loser if you believe one word that comes out of the mouth of be it kier stamer or biden or obama or trump or whomever. ps: I think it was the PNAC(project for a new american centrury) that outlined in one of their essays that the green parties in the EU (but specifically "die Grüne") were ideal to focus on for influence due to their immaturity and naivety ....not surprising that "GREEN PARTIES" have been so PRO WAR recently.... I haven't heard any grean party leader in Europe advocate for peace talks with Putin.... So how the FUCK am I supposed to believe any of them opportunistic idiots are in it for the bettering of the world instead of the bettering fo their own petty existence... please explain....

    EVs are a complete sham. They only compare tail pipe emissions. EVs are far worse for the environment once you consider all the mining (often unethical) that goes into creating them. Then theres lack of ability for daily life vs IC vehicles. Cost, danger and weight of the batteries. All the mining creates a massive environmental impact with truly toxic waste products which co2 isnt. The fact electrical grids can never support mass adoption of EVs and there isnt enogh copper in the world for everyone to own an EV. The car will last 10 years at best if it never has an impact and is written of or goes into thermal run away. Its a complete fraud.

    • @teslatalesuk
      @teslatalesuk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's true that there are significant environmental and ethical challenges associated with mining for battery materials, and these are important issues that need to be addressed. However, it's also worth noting that the EV industry is continually evolving, with ongoing research into more sustainable and ethical sourcing of materials, as well as advancements in battery technology. Companies and governments are working towards improving the entire lifecycle of EVs, from production to disposal. Regarding daily usability, many EVs are now designed to meet a wide range of needs, and their infrastructure is steadily improving. While the electrical grid does face challenges, there are also significant efforts underway to enhance grid capacity and incorporate more renewable energy sources. EVs are not a perfect solution, but they are part of a broader effort to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and mitigate climate change. It's crucial to look at the bigger picture and consider how we can collectively improve and innovate across all areas of transportation and energy.
