DIY upcycled homeboni (Zamboni)
A quick, cheap (even free) way to make your own "Homeboni" (Zamboni or Ice resurfacer) for your backyard skating rink. Upcycled From things laying around the house. At this point we were still building up the ice, as it was the first really cold week we had had, so the ice was still looking rough.

    Having just erected one please note. Read the instruction book (or rather look at the diagrams) at least twice and then throw it in the bin. It's useless. In fact it's worse than useless as it has three diagrams each contradicting each other for the ratching tie downs. Fortunately the photo on the box, which had been outside overnight in the pouring rain, was still clear enough to see what it should look like. Oh and I have used 8 ground anchors. 4 on the cover and 4 on the frame.

    Thank you for the tip. I buy 10 oothe each year and hang them either by the bag of the stick they came with. So far out of the 10 I have only witnessed 1 or 2 hatching. I also live in the country and have lots of birds eating them up :( I will do this next spring.

    Hi there. Could you explain how to cuts the boards to make the dimension by 8ftx4ft please???

    • @carbar3936
      @carbar3936 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Boards come in 8ft. Buy from Lowes or Home Depot, they'll cut the 8ft boards in half = 4ft for free. Buy soil in bulk from dirt sellers/farm, and ensure the top soil is screened (less bark/wood pieces/rocks/glass etc) but delivery cost avg $75. Cost in my area (Ohio) screened dirt and 98% (allegedlly LOL weed free) 32sf w/ 1ft. depth = 1 .2 yds of top soil is $40. However, I'm getting 1 1/2 ft depth so $60. Total approx $140 upfront for dirt. Also ensure you have the toposoil mixed w/ sand at a 75-80% topsoil ratio and 20%-25% sand/compost ratio of some sort for good drainage.. Depending on location of your planting - front, back, or side of house, if large enuff for truck to fit thru, they can back up the dirt to fill in your bed. Otherwise they'll dump dirt in driveway, and you'll have move the dirt to garden location w/ a wheel barrow. Hope this info helps despite it being a yr. ago you asked.

    How has this greenhouse held up for you? I bought the same one in 2020 and have used it for three seasons now. I partially dismantled it for the first two winters and stored the canopy inside. Still, with only six months exposure per year, it leaked during the second season, even though there were no obvious tears or leaks. UV rays damage the material and water begins to pass through. Sides still look OK. I used flex seal to spray the roof in 2022 and this solved the leak issue (for now). At this point, I feel it's not worth the trouble to put it away again. I plan to leave it out this winter to store garden equipment, but will cover with a heavy duty tarp until spring.

    Nice setup! On your U-bolts, if you use 2 additional nuts and another plate to "sandwich" the metal frame, it will make the installation/adjustment maybe a bit easier. just a thought.

    I built a similar set up in my metal gazebo. I mounted my projector on the ceiling and sealed everything off. Ran all my wiring and electric through the Posts of the gazebo and bought a cover for my receiver. Projector is the only thing I take in and out with me. Well Done!

    Great video! One thing I'd like to add, regarding a projector and screen set-up. Before you purchase your projector, you have to know the distance from the screen and the screen size. Projectors all have different "throw ratios" that need to be taken into account if you want clear, full-screen video.
