Utricularia unboxing and planting!
I got a pair of Utricularia - U. bisquamata
and U. minutissima. I also received an aroid, Anthurium crystallinium dark form in a trade. I gave home a seed grown D. burmanii and seedgrown D. capensis “ICPS Giant” self cross seedlings.
I’ll open them up from their bags and pot them up in clear plastic pots!
I’ll also show you some of my established Utricularia in larger clear pots!

Preordered a few days ago saaaaannnnn😄😄👍
Awesome!!! I’ve been with Survios since February and I even still get scared testing the game and my setups. :)
@@pinecone.jeff.carnivores yeah I've only had the headset a few weeks now since they cut the price and ended up getting it for £250. But I'm struggling with the motion sickness atm but I'm a huge aliens fan and I'm really excited to get stuck into this game 😄😄👍
@@jamiehunter3567 You can try a couple of things. This is the first VR project I've ever worked on and it only took me a week or so to get used VR and not get motion sick. I can play 3-4 hours straight now and not feel any ill effects! (And I get motion sick very easily on boats). Here's what I did. I always stand when i play. If I sit, it's much harder to keep from feeling nauseated. So stand. Also, from time to time, wiggle your toes on the ground. This will send messages to your brain that you're standing on solid ground. And finally, do go hero mode right away and try to play 3 hours straight. Go with short 2 minute sessions first. Then 5 once you can reliable stay in the game for that long. Rinse repeat until you can comfortably play for 20-30 minutes. Cheers!
@@pinecone.jeff.carnivores yeah I stand all the time as I think that's probably the most authentic way to play but the rest I will try and see if it lifts. I expect after a few more sessions it will get better just in time to play alien rogue incursion 😄thanks for the advice bud it's very much appreciated 👍
@@jamiehunter3567 Sure thing, man! Just gotta practice every day just a little more each time. Don't play until you get sick. :)
Hey, Jeff. Do you have any videos on your cooling setup? I have been looking for ways to cool my highlands at night.
I don't cool my setup. I'm lucky I live in the SF Bay Area in Marin County. The nights get down in the 60s even on hot days. During heat waves though, I blow a big fan on my cabinets from the outside. This keeps the cabs between 65F to 70F at night during these heat wave evenings. Which is rare. So I don't run any cooling. Lucky me!!!! :)

I wanna have a collection like your’s one day
You definitely can! If you’re starting out, I suggest learning about Venus flytraps as much as possible before you start your collection. Look up California Carnivore’s videos about Venus flytraps here: m.th-cam.com/play/PLcXRLVqRw9LXV_e7HmASnq7nWibtI8HVu.html This is their playlist of all of their Venus flytrap videos. You can follow them and me on Instagram for visual inspiration as well. Once you learn the basics of what VFTs need, they’re actually very easy to grow and take care of. And keep asking questions! This carnivorous plant community is full of super positive and generous people willing to share their knowledge and experience! :)

Do you have any Utricularia tropical, or aquatic
I have a couple utrics. A x Peter Rabbit and a bunch of hitchhikers. :)
Very beautiful plants. What light is this one? I have been searching for a small light like this but it ia hard to find with right spectrum and enough lux.
It's a Yescom 225 white, however, they have gone out of production form Yescom. 😥 I'm very sad about this. So I'm still looking for alternatives that are as inexpensive as the 225s were. So far, everything is at least 2-3 times more expensive. But so far, I've narrowed my search down to Vivosun, Mars Hydro, or Spider Farmer panel lights. They all have much better features than the old Yescoms, put out as much or more light as the Yescoms, but, like I said, at about 2-3 times the cost.
Powdery mildew has nuked all the Cephalotus I ever had. I’m getting a large clump soon, so I hope I can avoid it this time.
Damon at California Carnivores sprays his Cephs monthly with a sulphur based treatment. My collection is very small so I do visual inspection almost every day with my phone camera. I’m always taking pictures of mg plants and catch problems before they get really bad.
Wow! Do you own Darlingtonia indoor?
No, mine's outdoors year round. It sits in a Styrofoam box with a lid cutout to fit the pot. In the summers, I add in a frozen bottle of water to cool it's "feet" especially during the hotter days.
Very nice collection! I commend your dedication... My plant is coming along but not as big as yours yet!
That's cool! My big UC Davis clone took 2 years to get to this size. But once it started growing well (same goes for my other 4) they just take off. Very exciting to see them grow faster as they mature. :)
Looks great
Thanks! :)
Thanks for making this video. I’m also from NorCal! I’m thinking about doing this. How is the greenhouse holding up and the plants?
They’re doing very well! In fact, I ended up getting a second cabinet! :)
@@pinecone.jeff.carnivores Do you have any recommendations as a sub for the yescom panel lights since they no longer make them? Having a hard time finding decent led panel lights lol.
@@michaelm6712 I’m thinking about trying Barrina strip lights. If their white lights are really white (I hate the pink hue of some of their lights - messes with photography), I will likely go with those.
@@pinecone.jeff.carnivores I'm full commit making this happen lol. How did you mount the wire grid panel in the back. Do I use the existing screw in the back of the cabinet with washers to tighten down?
@@michaelm6712 So I the grid comes in two square panels. I tied the two together with zip ties. The two cover about 3/4 of the height of the cabinet. If you want 100% coverage, you'll need to cut a 3rd panel to size. To mount it, I used two magnetic hooks and just hooked the grid up. That's all that's holding it up. If I want it to hold more weight, I'll add more mag hooks. But so far, I've not needed it. Plus, I'm not sure I even needed the grid panels TBH. I've only hung a few things to it. I thought I was going to hang a lot more things on the grid.
Very cool plants!
Thank you!
I just want to find out what happened to that fly’s head
It just stated on the dead fly’s body after the trap opened. Lol
Trying this now, its impossible to hit the weak spots on this dude without getting killed in 2 seconds!
I'm so pleased that folks are still playing this game! :)
Infinite ammo?
As I recall, there's ammo pickups squirreled away in each phase. But I can't remember exactly. It was so long ago that I worked on this game. :)
@@pinecone.jeff.carnivoresin this video the ammo never goes down it stays at 300 on this mini gun..
I was cheating in dev mode to make this video.
I'll have to watch this many times but it'll be cool. I love it! The music too!
Drocera! What a great collection!
Hey! I was just wondering how your setup is coming along. Been looking into doing it myself, being based in Norway I don't have many options for lighting so I'll have to import from abroad so just want to make sure I don't buy anything that won't be good enough. I've considered going for the Barrina lights you've linked in the sheet. Have you made any significant changes since making this video?
Hi, the cabinets are doing well! I’ve switched out my Barrinas for Yescom white panel lights. I like the white lights much better and my plants seem to like them. Unfortunately, Yescom has discontinued them so I’m looking for replacements when my Yescoms deteriorate. I’ve also changed the heating. The reptile ceramic heaters were scorching plants that got too close to the heater. :) So I tried using 2 seedling heating pads in each cabinet and they seem to be working well to keep them nice and warm. 80F days and 60F at night. I really should update the spreadsheet. :) Thanks for watching and asking about them. I’ll have to do an update video.
Great idea, the plants look great. I have the milsbo also but with orchids.
I have Phals in my first Milsbo at the bottom. I probably shouldn't spray those from the top. :P I do have a few Oncidiums and Tolumnias with my 2 bigger Nepenthes at the bottom. They seem to enjoy the spraying. :)
Awesome! Whats the nanometers on your blacklight?
I have no idea. It's a kind that's used to find pet urine. LOL.
