I watched several of these TH-cam videos about starter issues. One said I could get a starter for about $60.00 (assume Chinese) and another said JD OEM was $220.00. So figure that you saved me which ever amount you like. I followed your recommendation and it fired right up. You da Man!!! Thanks Max. New subscriber!! Well done.
@@davecates5898 thanks so much! I have always thought if I had all my granpa’s knowledge on video it would be priceless. I’m glad “we” could help and think he would be proud of this comment.
Have not had too many troubles with my Austin xl. The auger motor is a bit of a problem and I shimmed up the motor block on the bottom and zip tied the motor to the plate it sits above so it’s not clunking on it and flopping around. More solid and turns the auger better now. Not sure what the engineering behind that is other than keeping the motor from getting burned up when there is a clog in the tube. (?)
@@mattweston2509 my assumption is it allows the auger supplier a looser spec on warping and lowers the cost, but just a guess. Thanks for your input!
Paint helps
Very practical method
Would like to know where you obtained the mylar and flannel insulated blanket from!
@@TravelinBoneSC hello, I picked it up at a thrift store. That’s probably not the answer you’re looking for, I know because I’ve been looking for another for a couple years. Sadly there are just no markings to go by.
I go there we just went back Pool dancing The cave is the most popular thing
@@Noluvforme-qb5tb we had so much fun, the idea is fascinating to me. Curious if pool dancing is a typo or term I’m unfamiliar with?
Cool vid, I've been working to setup mine for camping/long trips. I'm trying to find that flannel blanket with the reflectix on it.....can you post any details? It's so weird that I can't find it.
@@DragnDon I sure wish I could, because I would love to have another one myself. I’ve also been asked several times previously, but unfortunately It was a great thrift store find.

@@Platano_macho awesome, I plan to take it hiking and plan my hike around it. Do you use a jig or live bait?
@ I use flies and mini crank bait that Walmart sells for about $1.50
@ that’s a great, lightweight option! Thanks for sharing.
@@maxspeedadventures yes sir anytime
I bought one about 2 years ago and while handy, it was one of the worst pieces of fishing gear I ever spent money on. Micro guides instead of the tube would have been much better and easier to use lol
@@FishingWithChris_Tv the tube was cause of severe language not fit for tv, but overall I like its durability.
I was looking at this awhile back, would probably be great with a jig head grub for bluegill and even smaller bass. I just hate closed face reels and if the reel stops working thats pretty much it
@@dbullets3664 all true! I will try the jig when it gets a lot warmer.
Nice video! For $20 though, why would somebody pick this over a Dock Runner/Dock Demon other than portability and "Fun Factor"?
@@BikesAndBites101 well, that’s a good question. I can say I like that I hauled it for nearly a year and there were no eyes that got damaged. Just a thought…
@@maxspeedadventures True! Chalk that up as a plus!
Also if the auger is stopping but motor is still turning this would mean the gear box is bad
Because it's resting on the shaft and in a angle the gears are not hitting correctly
It doesn't turn indefinitely because it has to stop feeding pellets or you will have all the pellets in the pit
I wouldn't tie the motor down it's loose for a reason take the cover off the gear box and see how the gears look and add greas e
Maybe you should put a little back pressure on the shaft coming out of the gear reduction that is between the motor and the auger
Many thanks. Good to view a video from you.😊
@@stephenburns3678 thank you so much! Work has been super busy and I’ve not had time for things I enjoy lately. I have vacation coming up, so stay tuned!

Free is always good. I'm learning to bring things home only if they have scrap value. If it is broken you can't break it.Might as well get some education. I spotted the motor that turns the light flapper. Another part to save from the junk microwave. Nice unit!

Why would the starter stick?
@@tommiemartin2423 hello, it has been a a couple years since I made the video but if I remember right I talked about it briefly. The is a metal washer, the metal Bendix and the metal cook screw shaft. If you get moisture in this area for any reason they will rust together and cause sticking. A couple quick thoughts on where the moisture can come from are putting it up when it’s hot during a cool fall or winter day and causing condensation, sitting outside in the weather, or in this case mouse urine. Hope this helps, thank you for the question!
Why would the starter stick?
i have biked the tunnel hill trail several times, but not the whole trail. how far is it to harrisburg from vienna? just asking. i cant find any maps that show the milage!
@@princepage632 the distances are shown in the map between each city with the dotted line. It’s hard to see, but if I got it correct Harrisburg to Vienna is showing 32.3. Thanks for the great question!
That is a very useful video. Maybe 536 likes counts as going viral. It is the same as for a 100 series John Deere. Thanks
Smoke daddy has motor bracket and bushing
I am curious if it holds up after 3 years?
@@summersummer1232 yes it has. I have been skeptical as well. I just dranked it and plan to unhook this evening and flip over for the winter. It really hasn’t changed any since the first winter. I have no concerns for next spring. Great question, thanks for asking!
Thank you
I'm saving up to get me one, I've always wanted one since they first came out. I'm an Odyssey owner, great van ❤ I love the look of the Element and can't wait to own one as a camper.

My starter is still working but the shaft on the bendix snapped off. Is the shaft and bendix replaceable or do I need to replace the entire starter?
@@HerdDog-f3q unfortunately I can only guess on this one because I’ve not had mine tore down that far. I have to assume from car starters that you’re in need of a whole new starter. Sorry, best of luck!

@@CalebLivaudais glad we could help!
Hey brother, props on the pool. Wrapping up the deck for our stock tank pool as we speak. I just wanted to jump in here and tell ya that your diagonal strap for you gate should go the other direction. You want the brace to run from the bottom hinge up to the latch side of the gate. Wood, when properly constrained, is generally stronger in compression than it is in tension. Running the strap the other direction will place most loads on your strap in compression rather than tension.

My father was adopted when he was very young in 1930s. Thru DNA testing we found many of his blood relatives living from S Texas where my adaptive grandparents took in my father from catholic adoption to Durango Mexico. His father was killed in a railroad tunneling work site somewhere in Illinois. Ironically I’m living in Illinois and wonder. Which tunnel did my grandfather meet his end? I lived for 7 yrs in New Albany IN and familiar with Ohio valley terrane and oddity’s. Was a member of N.S.S. National Spelunking society for many yrs. I should concentrate my exploring to S Illinois where tunneling for railroad works in 1930s would have taken place. Thank you for inspiring videos.
@@michaeltait3783 You’re very welcome, and thank YOU for sharing your very interesting story! Best of luck in your search.
Good video, but hardly the only one on YT showing the problem & how to fix. Your starter looks a bit different than our D130, ours has a spring that pushes the bendix up/down and held in place with a mini c clamp. Good tip on holding that bolt in - it’s really in a PIA location.
Thank you! The video is a few years old now and at the time I wasn’t able to find what I was looking for. The bolt definitely has challenges, hope the tip helped!

Do you ever have an issue with rust forming in the tank. I think it happened from using chlorine but I’m not sure ?
No I have not. I think the galvanized coating would have to be scraped away for it to rust. If you notice the difference between now and when it was new in the original video, it now looks cloudy or dull. That is the coating forming what we called white rust when I worked in grain bin business. It forms to protect the metal from rusting. It can flake away in a bending process or roll former. My guess is your tank had missing galvanize.
Thank you so much !
Very nice!!!
Thanks!
