I’m interested in getting a cam , would this work on a auto transmission my 2005 silverado has the 4L60 and I see many of the cam swap v6 s have the 5 speed
No experience with the manual but the stall I put in mine is a 2500 so it is made to Rev higher to get moving

Why exactly if you were going to go through the trouble of a cam swap would you pick the lS9 cam? You would have been much better off with an actual truck cam from TSP, BTR etc. The LS9 cam is essentially an LS7 profile, they both optimize top end at the loss of some low end power and this is a that you obviously daily drive so why would you ever want to do that? Besides the fact that the top end gains are hardly worth even doing the swap, maybe 25 HP peak to peak. To each his own but I don’t think this was a very well thought out cam swap.
I chose that cam because it was 75hp more over stock with no big mods. We will agree to disagree

Why is your ck engine light on? I just did the same swap. I tuned it myself also. I have no ck engine light.
I had a vacuum leak on my intake,but it's fixed now
While it makes more power above 3000rpm than the stock cam I'm thinking the low end torque below 3000rpm would make the truck sluggish from idle to 3000rpm l think a cam with 216 duration intake 218 duration exhaust with 600 lift would make more horsepower and torque from 2000rpm to 6000rpm without any low end torque loss with this ls9 cam setup a 3.73 gear and a 2500-3000rpm stall would be needed to get the most out of it the ls9 cam was designed for a blower and this truck is 5500 pounds it's heavy
You’re exactly right. The IVC (intake valve closing) of this cam is 46-47 degrees making the torque output down low in a 5.3 heavy truck just horrific. Stall converter would help it but still. Yes I’m sure it pulls good after 4000 rpms.

Oil pressure?
It's got the high volume gm performance pump in it but not exactly sure why it does the lower pressures at times. No motor noise and oil level is good.
How is it on fuel economy after youve had it installed? Im getting that done to my truck next week.
As of right now in town 14-15mpg But I seen highway was around 22ish at one time so I'll need to do a better test.
Also mine is a 2wd with 3.42 gears crew cab
Cool. I get 16.1 out of mine now. Its a 2007 crew cab not sure on the gears. So if it drops down 14-15 ill be cool with it. Im getting the top en re built and i figured i would go ahead and upgrade the cam while i had it with the mechanic.
@@2008thefonz yeah just make sure when you get it to have the correct valve springs I think ls3 or ls6 it needs for that cam to work correctly. Mine kit I bought from Texas speed so I was able to do the DoD delete and upgrade the cam. I did buy my own ls7 lifters this because it was alot cheaper off eBay vs Texas speed prices.
Got my truck back all finished up and ready. Its got a way better top end for sure. Ive already put around 300 miles and my mog has stayed the same so thats good!

@@airsoftsniper411 ..Iike everyone else I have all the basic, and cheap mods, like throttle body blade, shorten throttle cable,.. distributor and wires.. 4:11 gears heavy tires.. runs okay
@@infowarrior1999 yep I know,i wanted to do something good a different. I get v8 swap hate but I don't care be yourself and get away from the crowd to be different. Build something unique and you will be noticed.
@@airsoftsniper411 ..Same.. I am on my second 4.3 motor.. first one hydro locked, It was just way easier to drop in another 4.3. Bought used at a junkyard from a newer sierra. for 600 45thousand miles later no issues besides fuel pump.

Well i bought it brand new with a case and plus a pawn shop will sell it for a discount so its going to cost alittle less at a pawn shop but u get a better quality of service at a music store cus they can atleast have the lifetime warrranty on the guitar and they can fix it pretty easy
