Am in 200 level studying chemical engineering in Nigeria. Well done brother and i need your support academically.
thank you !!!
You're welcome!
Sir you working in which country
I’m studying chemical engineering in the UK!
I am a Chemist myself but I do appreciate chemical engineers a lot. Without them, we can't mass produce our findings for the goodwill of humanity.
And we chemical engineers appreciate chemists like you, without whom we would not have any findings in the first place!
🎉
As a chem-e student are we cooked?
Nope, it’s a great degree! 🥳
lol
Oh
Hey Jup I am interested in chemical engineering however I do bio, chem, business (no maths) and I am in year 13 However there are great foundation year chemical engineering opportunities that have lower than usual grade requirements and are in great universities, do you think I should go for it ?
Hey there, thanks for reaching out! If you’re quite interested in doing ChemEng, I’d really recommend going for the foundation courses! I know the one at Southampton for example is a great bridge onto ChemEng and gives you scope to continue on with ChemEng at Southampton or another uni for ChemEng undergraduate. I’d say if you’re very sold on doing ChemEng, taking a gap year to do maths A level yourself and applying again in that same year isn’t the worst track either, given you will already have 3 a level grades secured and offers will be only conditional on your maths A level, but again this is entirely up to you. Either track is good, although I’d recommend the latter if you’re very keen on going straight into ChemEng; hope this helps!
3 years later and still ridiculously useful. much appreciated
Thank you! Will make an update video in due course, there’s still so much knowledge that I want to share!
He look like new Sodhi
Cap, ChemE doesn't give a fuck about chemistry.
It’s still 15-20% of the degree…
Great work sir😮😮😮
As a physicist , chemist and mathematician myself , the only way a chemical engineer has ever confused me was by speaking absolute βυllshιτ.
😆
yall dont know shit about physics, coming from a physics&chbe double major
True, maybe not as much as you do, but it’s more physics than most people would think ChemEs know!
I can't help but notice just how Czech the Czech guy is... bro was SO INSIGHTFUL AND HONEST
I'm here now in my third year and feel so dumb now lol it's getting super hard
True say 🫡 the course may be getting hard, but it doesn’t know that you’ve survived 100% of your worst days and still made it this far; ChemEng is underestimating how far YOU can go, don’t let it do that, keep going!
Is it worth to study msc chemical engineering after bsc chemistry?????
If you want to go into industry as an engineer and not a chemist then yes! ChemE grads earn more than Chemistry grads on average
Who become research scientist, chemistry or chemical engineer?????
Both! Although the areas of research differ very slightly
@@ChemEngWeekly thank you
Bro u just mentioned every topic in the books
Only the relevant topics were mentioned- these will help you prepare for ChemEng
@@ChemEngWeekly ig there's just hella maths in chem eng
Would u recommend this field
Yes! But only if you’re interested in chemical engineering and not “chemistry”
@@ChemEngWeekly what's the difference
What our short on ChemEng vs chemistry! Too much to summarise in a single comment :)
One of the most hated engineers
Not heard that one before!
Every chemical engineers are facing this......😂
I should not be answering Chemical Engineer whenever people ask me what I'm gonna do after college 😅😅😅
loved this video!! was so lost searching for a reading list but this definitely helped me out with my essay
Thank you! Delighted to hear it helped 🥳 🙌
Is chemeng is very hard for a vocational group student
I think ChemEng is definitely difficult for anyone who takes it 😅 but jokes aside, you should be able to handle it if you a foundation year or properly bridge yourself onto the course and a vocational education might not give you all the baseline knowledge you need for ChemEng. There’s specific engineering foundation courses which last a year at some unis (eg Southampton) that are great to help you bridge onto ChemEng. Hope this helps!
@@ChemEngWeekly yes very much thanks btw ur name?
You are very wrong 😑. Apparently this video found me because I otaku girls rolling on magic carpets but sure let’s go with your ideas
is it good if I do bachelors chem engg and then do MS in chemistry coz I want that cash flow and that chemistry. But I am okay with nuclear chemistry and nuclear engineering
I’m not sure what you mean by the second part of your question…?
I did maths biology and chemistry at a level (no physics), is it mainly physics based?
You don’t need to do physics at A level to do ChemEng at uni! There’s plenty of people who’ve not done physics A level and they do really well at ChemEng- the physics you do in ChemEng is not directly derived from the A level physics specification, so you should be more than fine if you choose to pursue it. Hope this helps!
@@ChemEngWeekly It did indeed help, thank you 🙏🏾
What are the scopes after chemical engineering in India?? Plz do reply sir🙏!
Hey there! Unfortunately I don’t know a lot about the scopes in India, but I’m sure you can find out on the internet. As far as I know, there is good scope to go into textiles, good and drink, water treatment, and pharmaceuticals in India given these are products that are produced a lot in India. Hope this helps!
@@ChemEngWeekly okay, thanks!!
How is the application process to imperial done for chem eng? I’m gonna take a gap year after a levels, and I was wondering if they weigh GCSEs, a levels and ps. I know an admissions test is required for interview, so how many people get interviewed?
Hey there! Thanks for getting in touch. Since you would be applying with achieved A level grades, those would be more important than your GCSEs as GCSEs are less looked at as far as I am aware. The process remains the same, doing the UCAS application with personal statement, sitting the ESAT in either the first sitting or the second session, interview if successful, and then offer. The ESAT has only been introduced for this cycle so we are still getting a feel for what it is like. Typically, only around 20% of applicants for ChemEng get sent an interview, meaning that 80% will be screened out by then after tests, personal statements and A levels are weighed up. Hope this helps!
What laptop do you use
The standard one recommended for ChemEng is something like a HP Elitebook 840- anything with i5 processor and NOT a Mac is good to use!
Where did you do your UG in chemical engineering
Imperial! 🥳

I watched some Videos, and I saw that you didn't do SEO on your video, And you did not add a thumbnail to your video. So how do viewers find you interesting! I add a picture to better understand. I have found a problem because I am a TH-cam SEO expert.
Hey @chemengweekly I love your page. I wondered if you have some advice for someone who is studying a level 3 engineering course and really wants to become an engineer but isn’t particularly strong in maths and doesn’t know what area of engineering they want to go into after college? Thanks.
@@CurtisIsacc Hey Curtis, thanks for your kind words! Glad you’ve found some utility from our content, and congrats on getting into the level 3 engineering course. I’d say the best way to find out is maybe applying for a foundation year in engineering at a university- this is quite general and will give you the skills needed to transition into the first year of an engineering degree either at the same university or a different one after you finish, and more importantly it’ll mean that your weakness in maths won’t be an issue. Having weak maths isn’t going to hold you back as long as you are willing to work hard and ask for support from teachers and peers, and this is also what I’d advise doing (asking teachers) for finding out which engineering is right for you. Maybe have a read through this page (www.topuniversities.com/courses/engineering/which-type-engineering-should-you-study) to determine which engineering stands out the most for you. Hope this helps!

Recently got accepted to do a Bachelors in Process Engineering, excited about it. Still wanted some ideas on potential jobs positions. I.E what other aspects of Process can I work in or is the job gonna mainly be just sitting and looking at monitors? Any advice would be appreciated.
First off, congratulations on getting in! You can work in a variety of different roles, not just process monitoring as you have mentioned- there’s scope for you to do hands on work in industries like oil and gas, lab work within research companies if you choose to specialise down that area, and also the chance to design new projects if you choose to become a process design or project management engineer. Since process engineering is very heavily overlapped with ChemEng, the possibilities of jobs is quite extensive!
@@ChemEngWeekly appreciate the reply man, I start on Monday, just really excited for this new step. Really hoping for a stimulating career and not something mundane, hence why I asked
ChemE is a scam, the curriculum is a collection of many different fields and it's hard to find a job.

Hello! I am thinking of coming to UK for masters in chemical engineering. What’s your opinion?
Hey there, Thanks for getting in touch! I’d say it’s a great option but you should consider what country you want to work in afterwards and what sector. For example, if you’re really passionate about the materials side of ChemEng and want to work in the UK after graduating then perhaps that’s not a better idea given Germany has more opportunities for that specifically and you would be better going to do a masters in Germany instead . Alternatively, say you want to go into oil and gas in the UK or the Middle East, then the masters would be a great option as there are strong pipelines for both of the countries. Regardless, the point is that it is worth it most if you do it at an internationally known university since then it doesn’t really matter what country you want to work in, you will be competitive as an applicant with a ChemEng masters at a top UK uni on your CV. So even if you want to go and work in materials in Germany for example, having the top UK masters would not disadvantage you, you would simply have to network more as your school likely doesn’t have the strong pipeline to the industry in Germany because it is geographically far away. Hope this helps!
@@ChemEngWeeklyWhat about if I want to work in the field of energy or renewable energy. Which country do you recommend? And do you recommend USA for internasional student from developing countries to get masters or PhD ?
Hey there! The best countries for energy and renewables are the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark) as well as Germany, Finland and France in Europe. Of course there is the US too, but that’s currently more inclined to traditional energy like Oil and Gas, shale etc. The US is arguably the best place to do ChemEng as a masters as the vastness of the country and the fact it has concentrations of all the regular ChemEng industries in different areas across the country makes it much more attractive for finding a job. The UK is second in my opinion since our schools’ reputations allow students to go an work in any country they like provided they graduate from a internationally known university, and of course they would need to network too. Hope this helps!
@@ChemEngWeekly thank you for the awesome response, bro. Do you think going to developed country to study master as international student from developing country is a great idea for opening chances to work globally? I'm an undergrad chemical engineer from Indonesia and looking forward to make a big jump in my career and widening opportunities globally.
No worries! Yes absolutely, I think it gives you the scope to work outside of Indonesia far better than if you tried to progress through the ranks at an Indonesian company in a ChemEng industry and then move abroad as that is a far longer process. The big bonus is you have some time after graduation to find a job- I think it’s up to 18months on the UK ( it don’t quote me on that, you may want to double check) and companies tend to be happier to sponsor work visas if the student has graduated from the country where the company is based. Long story short the answer is yes, it may be expensive but if it’s what you really want I’m sure you can find a way around the costs. Hope this helps!
Send this someone who’s “not smart enough” to apply for chemical engineering 🫡
I appreciate your insights. After coming back from "a year in the industry", do you have a better plan (vision, knowledge) for knowing where to focus when studying back at the university?
Glad to hear it has been useful! And from the students I’ve spoken to personally who have done these, the answer is yes- they explained they got a better idea of where they wanted to specialise, and also what electives they wanted to pick. Hope this helps!
Hi Jup, My name is Rohin, Im a recent High school graduate and I've decided to pursue a chemical engineering degree in college. So first of all I'd like to thank you for you videos in helping me guide my desicion.
