I read a book on these attacks called Close To Shore by Michael Capuzzo. Supposedly this shark was caught and it turned out to be a female great white around 10 feet long. Its stomach contents were examined and it contained flesh from some of the victims, including the victims from the creek. It was briefly displayed and the public, along with newspaper photographers took pictures while the public gawked. The shark's body was stollen soon after and photographic evidence was all that was left. This shark had problems and didn't act like a normal shark. Perhaps this was why it chose to hunt humans, finding them to be easy prey. It is also a fallacy that only bull sharks can live in freshwater. The Matawan Creek did contain some salt water during the time of the attacks and other species of shark can spend some time in mixed salt and freshwater.
Time for a new reel ya think ??
No, never
You are very handsome. (no offense). Was compelled to pay you the compliment. Good video/content --- Keep well, Joey from (North) Jersey
Immediately once I heard him talk I new he was from Jersey
Pretty unnerving that this all happened in our waters 💀
Right! Wild to think they were the first recorded shark attacks in America too, but I guess swimming wasn’t as popular yet back then
Matawan is great for early spring stripers - sent this to my dad, his fav movie all time is Jaws
Awesome, thanks brother
That was cool. Awesome idea for a video. A lot of people don't realize how close sharks come to shore and the ocean is their home. No doubt it was a Bull Shark in the creek. So close to home. Great video!
Thanks Joe! Crazy these were the first attacks in the COUNTRY! Agreed I’m going with the bull shark theory.
You guys should get real jobs.
Stop hating.... They get paid to make content... Jealous much?
@JoeyMartz only thing I hate is the fact that I wasted my time watching these fools learn to fish.
I’m sure they have jobs you fool. Looks like you stuck around to watch the video though 🤷🏻♂️
Happy New Year boys, great work this year. I especially loved the drum series and informational videos about fish migration and Mycobacteriosis! Looking forward to more in 2025.
Thanks Sam! Same to you brother. We gotta nice schedule planned for those types of vids this winter. I hear snows on the way now… is it March yet?😂
Signed Up🤙🏼😎
Thank you! We’ll be in touch
Great year guys looking forward to another great year 2025 ! No more salt brothers merch?
Thank you brother. No more merch for now…hopefully will have more in future. For now we are just doing the Grouped app which we’ll have some good giveaways for all members.
Happy new year!
Not a bad year I will definitely be re-watching your black drum series I want one this year
Thanks for bringing positivity to the comments Joe, we always look forward to em! Happy new year
Damn that's crazy. Done it with blues , but don't see 2 striper double very often . Nice catch bro
Thanks bro!
Nice release!
What swimbait was that
Tsunami holographic swim shad (pearl spot color) I believe 5” 3 oz
Catch and release...way ta go man .. 😁
Striper on clam is lucky! I only get porgys with clam on long island
Striped bass isn’t good eating?
When u say 50 on black and cant do that at the lighthouse. I wish i knew what you meant
Harrahs!!!!!!! For the win . I get it! 😅
And make sure we don't get cut, poked by them, especially the spines when handling them
Im a Raritan Bay guy.. what's a bluefish?
There was so many fish in far rockaway and Jamaica bay! Friends caught about 75 to 95 striped back in the last weeks of November
What size hook?
6/0-8/0 circle hooks, check out my episode 2 “to catch a black drum” some decent info/strategy in there
Ah, the sod banks! Nice gator. The Pirates of the Caribbean theme fit nicely. Cheers to you both - best wishes for a warm, joyous 2025 filled with tight lines! Peace.
Thank you Richard! Happy new year to you and the boys wishing you guys tight lines and some memorable trips for 2025🙌🏽👍🏽✌🏽
Big Blues NEVER give up ...
No better feeling than a big blue!
The fin sticking out of the water at the end was epic. 100lber?
Thank you brother. I’d say 100lbs. It was right there at 6ft….almost impossible to move on shore too. Thanks for watching✊🏽
I’m planning on going for black drum this year in NJ. Any tips on location and month?
April/May, fresh live surf clam, bays/estuaries/surf. Check out my episodes 1 and 2 “To Catch a Black Drum” there’s some decent info in there. Also will be dropping something to help ppl find some fish, look for that info in a few days
Love it when that reel is just getting stripped
The adrenaline is unreal🙌🏽😂
Brother there a striped bass blitz happening at bridge creek please 🙏 fish there in the next video please 🙏 i support your videos because i want you to be good 👍 in life please 🙏 fish there in the next video please 🙏 i promise you will catch and you will like 👍 it drop the video December 30 please 🙏 before new year
Damn I didn’t know you could catch shark like that in NJ that’s cool
NJ is stacked with these. They are called Dogfish….most people call them sandsharks (no teeth). Check out some of our other shark videos and you’ll see some bigger boys🙌🏽🫡
Not a fan of treble hooks for many applications. Damage the fish severely especially for catch and release.
Not a treble
Looks to me like someone needs to oil there reel, and no it doesn’t help to not oil stop tryna be unique
Oil that reel
Never
Why shouldn't you oil your reel
I’m joking but I’ve tried everything with this reel, oil doesn’t seem to help the horrible noise either
Where are you? South Jersey?
Crazy how you need a license to fish fresh water and not the ocean
Never knew that’s how you use it lol been doing it wrong this whole time
Bluefish are Cat Food. YUK! Fluke and Flounder need a year or two off to grow and get the population back. Stripers need more inshore protection as the nets will wipe them out Again.
Awesome
Did your boyfriend help you find that out?
Na it was ya sista!
Climate change is the answer. Need to pay more taxes
I gotta find these sod banks🤙🏼😎
Thank god for the subtitles on “bigger” that was quite a soft B
Beautiful day too
Awesome catch
Any fish on top water is a blast.
How do I find these spots and how do you get to them?
@@COOLFINDSnj I can’t disclose locations. BUT first week of January there will be something you can sign up for that you will be interested in and will help you find locations.
The amount of information available on this subject can be overwhelming to say the very least. There are so many "experts" with many valid explanations for why this or that happens but, truthfully, get off your phone, get off your ass and just go fishing!!!!! Having fished New Jersey fresh and saltwater fisheries for over 60 years, I think I have some knowledge of the subject. Historically, saltwater; Yes, I can remember "Whiting" by the buckets, now, gone. Bluefish, by the burlap bag, no limit. Flounder; three guys, 60 a day, no limit that's the same with Fluke. etc., etc. Definitely, things have changed here in Jersey, environmentally true but, It's the environment that has changed. There are so many more people. Where once there were many non-developed stretches of beachfront and backwater bays, now it's condo development ad nauseum but, that's time for ya. Believe me, if you want to catch a striper, or fluke or bluefish AKA "yellow eyed devil", they're there. ALSO, and I believe the most important factor as far as my Jersey coast and its saltwater fisheries goes..."Sandy" From Sandy Hook to Island Beach State Park the destruction to both property and physical coastline were catastrophic. Post Sandy saw the Army Corp of Engineers add approx. 3ft. of additional sand atop existing beaches from Sandy Hook to Island Beach. In some cases, 250ft x 3mi.of totally new beaches were created. Naturally, to protect coastal communities. The "Beach Replenishment Project" I believe, drastically changed the coastline and the fisheries. Add to all this, commercial fishing, population growth, demand for fish globally, regulations, and loss of breeding waters. Why do fish move? It's what fish do. They always have and, God willing, always will.
My guy. Thank you for watching. This is the most informational comment this channel has ever seen. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👍🏽👍🏽
@@SaltBrosOutdoors Thanks. Jersey waters, indeed, all waters in any state either fresh or salt have always been important to me as they should be to all.
Congrats!
Thanks!
Trying to figure out how to get to the sod banks
Really great informative video thanks!
Appreciate you watching! 🙌🏽
