The art of helping your opponent
Quite an old video of me trying to explain how we actually help our opponent in the art of wing chun.

Solo training 1(when you have no friends)
มุมมอง 6343 ปีที่แล้ว
Under the present crazy situation around the world, we don't have access to training partners. So, we are left with having to create entertainment and solo training for ourselves. Here, I show a glimpse of my training methods, from improvised forms, toys, jong.
Viagra wing chun
มุมมอง 5804 ปีที่แล้ว
There are 2 main characteristics of Chinese gungfu: Yum & Yeung(ying and yang). Most practitioners just focus on the hard aspects, making their wing chun incomplete. Hard gungfu is essential for combat, but you will never maximise your potential without the complimentary side of soft(sung). This clip was recorded during the lockdown and we were just trying to promote some laughter with our "inj...
What chisau reveals to you.
มุมมอง 2.8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Chisau is one of the most important aspects of wing chun training, and if you know what to look for, chisau can reveal a wealth of important information to us. It reveals our weaknesses, so we can work on closing our flaws, and it can reveal our strengths, so we can see the effectiveness of our training methods. Of course, the question is, do we choose to believe what our chisau reveals to us? ...
Training with Coat\\jacket to increases your senses.
มุมมอง 3944 ปีที่แล้ว
We all tend to train in t-shirts, arm to arm in chisau\gwohsau, but 1 way to really improve one's sensitivity is to train with our coat or heavy jackets on. Besides improving your listening skills, it will provide the practitioner with the experience of fighting whilst wearing a coat on. After all, street confrontations or violent flair ups can happen any moment and at a time you expect it leas...
Buying a mook yan jong(wooden dummy)
มุมมอง 1.7K4 ปีที่แล้ว
More people ask me about the mook yan jong than anything else in wing chun, so I thought it would be a good idea to make a short clip on the tips of buying a jong. It's not fully comprehensive(that would take hours), but I think I had covered the most important points. The main advice I would give to any potential buyers is, to spend a little more money on a quality jong that would last your tr...
Wing chun forms to function, power to punching

In this clip, I try to show how we imbed the movements of our forms into our body and to make it functional, and how some of our punches are derived within our forms.

Many 'expressions' of wing chun hands
มุมมอง 5K7 ปีที่แล้ว
There are no absolutes in how you express your wing chun hands as long as it conforms to its principles & it's efficient. Here, I try to show some of the ways. Unknown to many wc practitioners, wing chun is actually an in-close, Chinese gungfu system and, as such, we must be able to express power at close range. All our hands are for fighting, so I try to show this energy and hands against some...

    When you talk about short bridge power. Would you agree that is connected to Yiu Ma? I see a ton of fast hand Wing Chun and do not see a connection to their hips and stance. Only people trying to hit ( I say tap ) their training partner.

    • @chisauking
      @chisauking ปีที่แล้ว

      Using your yiu ma can help amplify your power, but as you advance, this requirement is less discernable. Let's use doing a wheelie on a bike as an example. When you first begin, you need to push your whole body down to compress the front wheel like a spring before pulling the front wheel up. However, as you progress, you only need the power in your legs to initiate the wheelie. Of course, you are still using the rest of your body, but it's less discernable. My point I'm trying to convey here is, as you get better, your motions to generate power gets smaller, so all the components in play, like the chor ma, yiu ma, etc, becomes very small movements.

      @wcwingchun1496 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chisauking I 100% agree with you. That is how I teach Chum Kiu, start large and make it smaller and smaller. Much like the Jong. Start with large motions and then tighten them up.

      In a world where most people are glued to the tv, mobile phone and social media, gungfu is more important now than ever. Most Chinese see gungfu as a vehicle for self development, and the combative aspects are simply a by-product. I know from my heart it's my gungfu training that's contributed to my excellent health. In 40 years, I had probably only seen the doctors no more than 5 times and not taken more than 5 pain tablets, lol. Thanks for your feedback, Paul

    Clever title and great video. I feel many misunderstand "softness" in Wing Chun. It is a state of adaptability, sensing and response to use our OPPONENT'S energy. This is vital for conserving our own energy and when facing one who is stronger or can produce more force than ourselves. "Hardness" limits one's ability to sense and conform [control] energy. Softer force is freer in movement and is more difficult to counter because there are more vectors of possible force and more responsiveness to energy. Wing Chun should be soft and springy, yet with constant forward pressure.

    I have found 12 Wing Chun tools and each can be used 4 different ways.. its awesome to find a Sifu who talks about the same things. Also on the doors being left open.. i have noticed many branches of Yip Man Wing Chun with very fancy hands using multiple movement techniques, while leaving many doors open as they do them. So the simple attack with doors closed is better. My Sifu would stress to not attack as long as you had a door open, or your attack would be meaningless. Also I teach my students to stay in wooden dummy range.. that extreme close space, other WC people tend to think of WC as boxing and try to use that range, where it is obvious to me, that WC actually fights best in grappling range. My Sifu would also have us strike sand bags from standing 6 inches away from the sandbag to develop that "short range power" so that is excellent that you mention that. Again many WC teachers do not teach this. Thanks Sifu Choi for your insights in this awesome Video!

Now I know. Coz they let u guys get on stage to show off ur crap, free exposure u otherwise definitely would not get by tagging alone Gary Lam! Thanks for supporting me again, motorcox. Even though my clips are worthless, you are still compelled to watch nevertheless, lol. It's incredulous that you spend so much of your time & effort to discredit me, when I have no reputation to discredit to begin with, lol. I have no standing in the WC community and everyone knows I have little skill. Heck, even I myself have stated many times my skills are mediocre at best. You say you was at the park, "watching me like a hawk" Why didn't you ask to gwohsau with me? You could have shown me the error of my ways and share some of your superior skills and knowledge. There's a popular saying "show me, don't tell me". Or is it simply you only have the confidence to write on the internet? My hand of friendship is always stretched out for any genuine wing chun practitioner -- including you. My friend, try to look in the mirror. Look into your own heart. If someone like me, who's not very good and openly admit that I'm not very good, and the whole WC community knows I'm not very good, post a simple clip to share some happy memories with others offend you so much, there must be something wrong with you mentally. You 'waffle' on about me changing lineages, etc. For me, a teacher is simply a guide. Ultimately, we must all find our own way. Most practitioners don't understand this because they are too subservient to their own grandmaster\lineage. Remember, just like in Chinese gungfu, life is about yum young -- you must have a balance. Too much negative energy will cause you to be sick....... maybe my advice is already too late? Anyway, this will be my last response to you. I don't believe in repeating myself and once I have said what I want to say, I simply move on. Osh!
