Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana Review May 2024
We recently celebrated our anniversary with our first trip to Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. The facilities, service, and food were fantastic, but there are some areas that could be improved. Watch our video until the end to hear our review of this property. Secrets Moxche - Adults Only - All Inclusive Resort

So, we booked a last-minute anniversary trip to Secrets Moxche. We had never been to any Secrets Resort. We were there the week of May 6-11th 2022. We could only book the Junior King Suite tropical view, nothing else was available. It turned out to be a really nice room. We kept hearing how good this chicken joint was and decided to give it a visit. Here is our review.
Going first week of November. Were there any issues with the food or getting travelers flu/sick, upset stomach throwing up etc.? I've read people ate the salad, fruit etc. and were room or hospital bound. How does one make reservations for food etc.🧐? Also, is there beach service for food and drinks, waiters etc. come to your chairs? Is there anywhere to smoke or purchase cigars? Are the top shelf liquor and beer included or available? What about name brand wine and champagne in the room? I noticed online there are prices listed for in room wine etc.
I've seen lots of complaints about the sofas being gross. They chose a poor fabric/color that really shows wear and tear. Some of the rooms have art on the wall. I feel like they should have done a different paint color so it felt a little more finished.
I'm planning on going with my friends to the DR -- I'm 21 years old. I'm wondering if there are other people my age there, or if the demographic is older. Thanks : )

This is one of my family’s favorite restaurants, thanks for the review. We really enjoy the salad bar as much as the variety of meats and chicken served. They have different sauces at the salad bar like horseradish and chimmichurri which are great with the meats . Their soup, cerviche , cheese bread , and fried bananas are excellent along with their beef stroganoff and black beans stew that it took us a couple of visits to discover. I hope you get to try it again one day and have a wonderful time 😊.

We're thinking of going in February. I see all the towels on the lounge chairs by the pool so I'd assume those were staked out very early limiting access? Is the beach area the same as that people claim their spots and leave then expect their spots to be there? I understand that it seems to be a wide spread practice but we just want to be able to have beers on the beach and not have to fight for spots. Appreciate your input,thanks.
So it's a hybrid towel system. The staff will set towels out for people and you just claim a chair. There also be people who want to be by the pool and pick their spots early in the morning. The beach was pretty easy to access. You should have no trouble finding a spot at the beach. Thanks for watching. I hope it helped. God bless.

My wife and I had to leave our honeymoon with food poisoning from this place. We weren't alone. While we stayed in our room for +36 hours we marveled at how disgusting it was. This was a private pool suite.... [1/5] Not what you see advertised. AI reviews on Google be warned. Excellence El Carmen wasn't up to their advertised standards. This is a statement I would make even if my wife and I didn't go home early from our honeymoon with food poisoning. Beware the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Google make no sense if you read them. At worst: Vacationing here has a high chance of getting you sick. Not just upset stomach sick, but getting no sleep because of the constant throwing up, aches and diarrhea. The resort will not refund you for any unused portions of your stay. No matter what is promised to you, you will never see a refund. So you will have to choose between staying and eating the food that almost put you in a Punta Cana hospital, or leaving and never seeing the money again. There are several others with similar experiences recently, and throughout the years. They are all correct. If you're planning your vacation here, understand there is a higher than you think percent chance you get sick. At best: The beach will be nice to lay out at and the water will be clear, but you will get solicited by strangers on the beach. They are nice and will not bother you if you say no, but they will not stop coming. The weather is amazing if you're from the Northeast US like me, but it will rain for several hours each day without fail if you're going most months of the year. While you're inside waiting for the rain to go, you can check out the mold-smelling so-so quality rooms, sample the food that might make you sick (there are lots of options), drink, or even check out the sports bar. The sports bar has a row of TVs that play the same illegal streaming sites I could access from my couch, with matching quality. Hello! We had this same exact dilemma. We opted to try out Zilara because we wanted to try something new. Life is too short to just visit one resort 😁. There is no right or wrong answer. Both are equally awesome. Moxche has a better night life, Zilara staff has the slight edge in service. The Dominican people are some of the most fun people to be around. Hope this helps. God bless!
Are the pools open and warm to swim all day with no time restrictions?
Not open all day. Seems like it opened at 7am and closed around 7pm. They did pool maintenance at night. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. God bless.

Yes, when it is in season. Unfortunately we were there when it was out of season. The other seafood was delicious.

I would say Secrets Moxche was the absolute best. Nice facilities, staff, entertainment, night life and food. Unfortunately the prices have sky rocked since we went. Ironically, Atelier Playa Mujeres is our next destination. What should we expect? Thanks for watching, God bless!
@@carlosandmarcie That’s amazing! You’ll enjoy Atelier. Very grand lobby area. The restaurants are very good, there are nighttime activities in the theater, but the life of the resort at night is the mixology bar near the theater. One negative…there is a different beach experience when you upgrade to the Inspira level vs the standard level.

Will be staying at this resort in September! My question is do they have pickleball/tennis courts?
We did not see a pickleball or tennis courts. There was a golf course, water park, hobie boats, beach volleyball, dancing, and various exercise activities at the main pool.
They do have pickleball not sure about tennis

Hi! There really isn't much seaweed at all! Way less than Mexico gets this time of year! They have a barrier about a half mile out so it catches the seaweed and the tiny bit that made it to the beach was cleaned by a crew early in the morning. Keep in mind we were there in early May though so I don't know about later in the summer.

When we went the prices were fair. They are currently charging way too much for us to make a return trip. Go the the Dominican Republic to the best band for the buck.

It's one of the cheaper ones as far as Excellence Resorts. I did Excellence Playa Mujeres (Cancun) 10 years ago for my honeymoon, and our room at El Carmen in a couple weeks is about what we paid back then. And now EPM is a couple hundred/night pricier.

How much was transport from air port ?
It was included in our package.
$238 roundtrip if not included when you book. DAT is a lot cheaper.
Unfortunately our experience at this property has been very negative. They did not have the room type we reserved directly through their website and received confirmation for from their reservations department available when we arrived. We were given a lesser room AND forced to pay more than we would have had we just booked the suite we ended up getting originally !They charged us the current full price rate for a horrible room with no view when we booked an oceanfront. They can and will do the same to you. Don't get blindsided at check in and have your vacation ruined like we did! Stay elsewhere.

Just booked in Oct for for our 7 year anniversary. We booked the Jr Suite swim up. How do we add the upgraded service for the additional restaurants. We loved that when we went to Jamaica.
