What was the trick to put the two rods back on the latch?
Looks great. Even easier in a 2008 torrent gxp. Thanks
With millions of 4x4 Escapes sitting in the junkyard waiting for good homes you decide to modify a 2 wheel drive Escape?? Why???
It's the one I had available
Will this method work on a 2011 Acadia 3.6
I believe it is the same on 2011, but not sure.
It always feels good to tear something down farther than you planned and still have it work out.
Yup. It's exciting when it all comes back together and works properly.
Off roading!? 😳 Don’t get me wrong I love my escape limited… But it’s AWD not 4WD like it says on the back, there’s a big difference between the two…😅 That little rear end looks like it belongs on a riding lawnmower…😂 I guess the closest I’ll ever get to “off roading” in mine would be a bumpy gravel driveway…😭 No offense, that’s just my opinion. So what was the brand that fits and what brand were the other two? Don’t be afraid to call them out… That’s sh!ty to sell poor quality parts…
Mine was born FWD and I made it 4WD. The drivetrain has held up, but the exhaust takes a beating.
Nice one❤
Dude, I absolutely love my 2008 4x4 3L V6 XLT Escape! I know it’s not some super hardcore off-road vehicle, but it is not a slouch either. I can pretty much follow my brother in law in his Jeep almost anywhere. I upgraded the suspension, kept the 16” wheels/tires because I didn’t want the extra weight of a 17” setup, slapped on a set of 245/70R/16 KO2’s and kept the rest pretty much stock except for a few cosmetic upgrades like a Yakima cargo roof box, KMC rims and a few other things. These vehicles are so underrated for off-roading/overlanding. Nice video man!
Very cool! Sounds like you have a very similar setup!
@@PaintedSpringsGarageGreat minds think alike my friend!😉
You keep saying 4wd, but it was only offered in AWD. AWD and 4wd are two different things
Mine is unique as the 4wd is controlled with a toggle switch. When I flip the switch it fully engages the rear axle. As you'll see in my videos this Escape started life as front wheel drive.
Why didnt you just press the new bearing in as far as you could with a piece of wood over it and then use old bearing if anymore was needed with the same piece of wood?
You started off this series calling it and AWD drive conversion. Is it AWD or 4WD?
Very informative. I'm waiting on my carburetor and gasket set to arrive so I can replace on a Ariens with a Briggs engine.
My 210 powerclear has a clean jet, clean new plug, good spark, fresh 2 stroke fuel and still won't start Even pulled the carb and soaked it overnight in cleaner
If it has good spark then it's not getting enough air or fuel or both.
Hello, what was the final maunf that was used on the front exhaust manifold?
Супер 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
All things equal more coils makes for a softer spring. It looks like the new springs might be a smaller diameter which would make them stiffer, and I wonder if the new springs have a longer free length and more preload.
I always use fresh fuel. With No Starts.
I would like to have seen the wrench you used to remove the nut on the bottom of the EGR tube. It looks like you need a trunk monkey to get access.
Same hassle to replace the window regulator. I got it all back together and realized I had the door handle cable in the wrong hole and couldn't open the door from the inside. had to take it all back apart again. Test the handle and lock before putting the trim back on.
I have the stock setup on my 08’ 3L V6 4x4 Escape XLT…235/70R/16 tires on 16” stock rims. I think I can, but I’ll like to know if I can go 235/70R/17 on 17” rims or if I should stick with a 16” set up. My Escape is all gloss black with tinted windows and I can’t stand the silver rims. I want them black to match the rest. I’m also going to buy a set of Bfgoodrich KO2’s since I do a lot of overlanding.
Was the 5500 adequate for the vehicle? Change the synthetics to next size up ?
I have rescued Wranglers and full-size pickups offroad with that 5500lb winch. Bought a second for my trailer.
My snowblower will only run on choke. I’ve replaced the carb with a brand new clean one and still. Any help ?
Make sure fuel flows freely to the carburetor. You may have a restriction between the fuel tank and carb. Otherwise you may have a bad new carb.
Hi, can you please add the manufacturer you went with that was properly aligned? I want to avoid buying the bad ones. Thanks!
It was a "Walker" brand rear manicat that actually fit properly.
@PaintedSpringsGarage what about the front? That's the one I'm doing. Thanks!
Awesome family off roader
I love channels like this. Nothing but working on cars late at night in peace. Recording and showing others how to fix it also. Nice.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching.
Great job
That seems like an easy install! What year?
This is a 2016. The install would be the same for 2015-2020.
You gotta put it on the chip after installing a new exhaust...
You had debris blowing out where the mower deck and the adapter meet. Get a piece of foam pipe insulation to fill the gap. I also use duct tape to hold the foam in place.
Yea getting parts for an Escape or the Tribute is a curse. As you might get the wrong part.
You need to fix the rust on that POS. I wouldn't let my Escape in public looking like that. You worry about the wrong thing. P.S You're a G E E😊 K 😂
You didn't even push it. It'll do much more.
Because of people like you, these little trucks are not cheap anymore. You totally ruined our little secret. 😂
Thanks for the video. Once you have the y pipe off do you have full access to all of the manifold nuts on the rear manifold? Thanks
Hi I have a question my car is a 2007 Ford Escape limited v6 those your car could apply to my car as the catalytic converter?and I check on eBay for it but not sure if it actually the right one for it.
Did this on a fwd 2014 enclave the exact same way thanks so much, was glad to not have to remove the intake. Just have to make sure you have some extensions and joints on hand.
For years 2017+ it’s a bit easier if you remove the plenum cover and a couple of hoses/solenoid and throttle bottle, but it should be able to get done by taking off just the intake cover (just a tighter squeeze). Great video, thanks man!
I’ve got a 09 tribute which is the same thing essentially and I’ve been super interested in 4x4 converting it. Do you have any idea if the 2.5 4cyl transmission is the same as the v6 models? I’m trying to start sourcing parts to put it together! I’ve also been curious about the computer for the car. Will I need a 4x4 ecm or will the one I have work fine? Thank you!!!!
Going through this had to cut some off exhaust pipe off because it was too long on new cat now it's not running right it won't stay running and there's no power at iac so is this the ECM ??? Please help about to pull my hair out 😢
I have the exact same setup as you. And I see that your unit does exactly what mine does which is mowing deck blows the leaves out in front of the unit which is frustrating and that your bagging unit has grass/leaves getting blown out of it the seams as well. Not happy with the purchase. My neighbor just bought a John Deere with a bagging unit and it's night and day difference. I'll be selling my unit next spring and buying a John Deere.
Just loosen all bolts, then attach the y pipe. Then start tighting the bolts.
I see you are from Michigan. I live in Walled Lake, southeast Michigan. Would you be interested in a phone call about the 4 wheel drive. I bought a 2006 low mileage Mariner with the V6. I am considering 4 wheel drive and curious how it works. From your comments I have gathered the switch on the dash essentially engages clutches for the rear driveshaft. But my friends are saying that’s impossible. I see someone else asked about parts required. I like what you did and thank you for your escape videos. Thanks
Snowblower season will be upon us soon
i had one of these in socal mountains and man these things handle snow so well. way better than my 2011 silverado 1500
why didn't you just buy a4wd? too much work
I was like Hell Ya. I want to do this for sure. I look at my ST grill and its not the same.
is there "a way to make the rear function as an AWD from the factory" with-out cobble'n it?I want to do what you have done TO AN EDGE.
Tengo una escape v6 4wd 2009, quiero se sea tracción trasera solamente, como que podría hacer?
Front wheel drive:slight toe out.rear wheel drive or all wheel drive:slight toe in
Wet snow and mud... use an MT or AT tire with less PSI. you get a good long tire print and they act more like tank tred than tires.
