OUTRAGEOUS! The Best Sword Ever - Albion Viceroy
มุมมอง 5K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
(Oakeshott Type XXa) The blade on this sword is a larger scale version of a long and slender single hand sword that is kept at the Royal armouries in Leeds. This is classified as a XXa by Oakeshott as a subtype to the family of Type XX swords. These have more severe profile taper and more of an acute point than is otherwise the norm for the type XX swords in general. Both XXa swords presented b...
The Quick Draw Katana - Akado Armory

Full Review on Akado's Lineup! the Katana appears to function the same as a traditional katana in the scabbard, unleasing limiltless possibilities for fun in the sparring ring. Obviously, not a proffesional katana practioner, but had tons of fun with these nontheless. Enjoy!

Nice! I’ve certainly never done that…twice.
Haha thanks!
My stand has a mark like that
"But don’t you know, there are some things that can beat smartness and foresight? Awkwardness and stupidity can. The best swordsman in the world doesn’t need to fear the second best swordsman in the world; no, the person for him to be afraid of is some ignorant antagonist who has never had a sword in his hand before; he doesn’t do the thing he ought to do, and so the expert isn’t prepared for him; he does the thing he ought not to do: and often it catches the expert out and ends him on the spot." -- Samuel Clemens, "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court".
Helllllll yeahhhhh
5:58 - the Pommel is a type U from the Oakeshott typology. You're welcome.
Thanks man!
This was always one of the more interesting looking swords from their line. If I could find a company that offers a payment plan, or PayPal, I could pay it off in 6 months. I'd buy it with a basic scabbard if they were offered. I also like the Albion Sheriff.
Kult of Athena runs a payment plan for this bad boy. Andy sunda on Facebook would make a good scabbard. Watch for the next review to see it.
I also own this sword, completely different tip shape
I love how each Albion is unique, but the same sword.
I love the idea of the half wire wrap. However, to me it seems like something that would inevitability come loose at some point and need to be repaired. That’s why I'd be reluctant to get it, even though it's hella cool!
Fair. That’s more of a personal preference
Sorry, my Munich and my gold medal winning A Trim are the best swords 😎
Fake news 😝
At this point anything not made from "Shock Steel" is a decoration.
What even is that?
Nothing made by albion is a "decoration". They are by far the best production European swords in the world.
I sure enjoy talking about our sword collections. Nice job on the tutorial.
Thanks man! Like and subscribe?
perfect hilt size for a hand and a half sword for citizen militias wear as secondary weapons it allows 2 handed use when the pommel is gripped and not as long as straightly 2 handed hilts which pokes out a lot when worn on the side
Yessir! Wait for the next review and I’ll talk more about it
i was under the impression Skall clipped a nail or similar while cutting into something like particle board to get that blade scalloping defect? Might have to go back and re-watch those videos as it's been a few years and I may be mistaken .
I just played the full clip of his video. But go watch his stuff. It’s awesome
He was cutting tree branches and hit a brach with poor edge alignment which compromised the blade. Then he cold forged it back. The same area he cold forged back is where the blade chipped.
Oh
@@kronos1794 Ah, yes. That was it. Thank you!
Well done, I saw that rising double cut at Combatcon and it was quite impressive.
Thanks bro! You do a good job too 🙂
Depends on what the sword is for to make it good or bad
Fake news. Viceroy is best.
My friend, I approve of the name and outfit upgrade. Also super cool that you got a Viceroy! Super informative video, really enjoyed it. And that tournament cut you showed was most excellent. Was that Jack doing the parry-cut drill?
Maybe. The footage was a potato
I love it when you dress like Kylo Ren. And use his voice.
That’s just how I talk 😆
I love your shoes, where I can get one like yours? :D
I bought mine on Amazon! MSG me and I’ll send you a link.
@@Dangerousswordsman thx, also great video 😃
You'll have somebody's eye out with that!
I am the most dangerous
Very happy to see you put the Viceroy to good use :-)
The legend himself comments! Very happy to have it! Hopefully we can find a way to do some more reviews for you soon!
Your video quality is getting better. Keep up the good work.
Awesome thanks’
I’ve been looking at the viceroy.. didn’t realize you hade one… very pretty sword
I love it!
@@Dangerousswordsman Also been looking at the Sempach...
Pimp
Ah yes, 20 seconds of dude's feet and 2.5 seconds of the sword.
Full review is coming!
Did you see the full review?
@@Dangerousswordsman I didn't
Sweet batto giri!!!!!, very nice!⚔️
I don’t know what that is, but thank you!
@@Dangerousswordsman just Japanese for “draw cut” my friend, great job!😃
Thanks! Working on it.
Dangerous practice bro , always one hand on tsuka pull out , one hand on saya/scabbard pull back .
Fair. I don’t practice this form very much. 😅
awesome cut
Thanks!
Very cool and informative video. May I know the dimensions of the katana? How long are the blade and the handle?
www.akadoarmory.com/
All of their dimensions are on their website
@@Dangerousswordsman What's the name of the katana you're using in this video? I need to know the blade's length of the katana in this video for research purposes
www.akadoarmory.com/product/akado-standard-fencing-katana/ I think it’s this one
@@Dangerousswordsman Many thanks, and very sorry for the hassle
very very nice learned a lot

One comment that stuck with me was the musing of not finding sheathing or drawing in European manuals. The reason for that is Iaido and most other drawing arts and quick draw arts for katana and budo in general is very modern and by and large a post Sengoku era teaching focusing less on practical combat application and more on the spirituality and focus of the idea of a warrior. European fencing manuals are about practicality, efficiency and position. If you are having to draw your sword after the fight has started, you are likely dead. This is due to a LOT of the manuals being based on thrust or maneuvering into the thrust. Likely the conversation might go, "if you haven't drawn your sword and the other person is attacking, may God have mercy. If you do not know how to sheath the sword when the fight is done, God save you."
While it is certainly true that Iaido is a modern art/practice primarily focused on spirituality and mindset, many koryu contain Battojutsu techniques that, while not intended for the battlefield, ARE intended for practical combat application from an "every day carry" perspective. Rapid deployment in ambush situations was also very important during the bulk of the Edo period.
Looks good. Handsome man.
Not too bad yourself.

That was a good cut my friend. Looking forward to seeing you again in a month or two!
I hope so too!
Having a bit more context to this would help. They are both swords? They have scabbards? Where does the real thing differ from a sparring katana? Surely there are pros and cons to each?
The edge, fit and finish and function are the exact same. I am showing that it is a faithful representation of how a sword should work. I’ll release a more in depth video soon.
@@Dangerousswordsman That's the thing. They are not in the same league as a higher end sword, for multiple reasons. It may well be equal to your comparison sword, I would not know, but Akado is in the same class as even basic iaito that many are using. Which of course depends on what you're doing with them. Akados are pretty good for sparring, but a high quality sword they are not. In any case, more contextual and elaborate video would probably help your audience to get more information out of this.
I’m newly Subscribed! Great content keep it up!
Awesome! Trying to grow the channel so I am glad you made it. Let me know if you have any suggestions! 😊
Hi there, Can you walk me through sharpening this? I’ve ordered to VA AT models this being one. I plan on using them and was considering a belt grinder but I like the look of your method. Thank you
I can, belt grinders are pretty expensive but will give you a more consistent edge. Maybe I’ll make a video on it to explain how it works
@@Dangerousswordsman That would be most helpful! I picked up 3 Atrims and plan on practicing. Learning to sharpen would be wonderful. Thank you
Hey there - still looking for your sharpening video. Thanks hope all is well
Looks like a distal taper from about 5mm to 2mm. Nice blade, not so sure about the hilt.
Hilt is comfy, but chonky for my baby hands.
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome!
How do you like that sword I was thinking about getting that exact same one?
Best sword I have ever touched. Chris fields at Stirling armory makes a very similar one as well with less wait time.
It looks like a two handed Wo Yao Dao.
Nice
Amazing Bro 🗡️👊🏻👍🏻💪🏻
Thanks 🔥
You stood with that thing propped up on your legs??? Braver man than me. Knowing my luck I'd have a surprise sneeze and lose a piece of my calf.
lol I like to live dangerously
smooth like cutting through butter
Same sinuous curve and steep grind as the Khazar Sabres in the Hermitage Museum's Khazaria exhibit but without the sharp thrusting point.
Can I see a link to this please?
I had no idea 😆
Thanks for the nice review!!
My pleasure!
Very likely no more being made. I kicked out the 2 forges making them due to all the failure rate. :(
Dang! Wish I could keep these!
I really liked the short one. I am not very good at cutting and was able to get through a target I have never made it through before. They are great swords!
You are very cute when you cut too.
Hey what are you cutting in this video? is that carpet? I thought it might be rolled newspaper at first but it doesn't seem to look like it when its cut? Just curious!
Lancelot cutting targets. I’ll show you an in depth look in my upcoming video
Looking forward to it!
It’s definitely gonna be good
I liked the history lesson with the review, it was nice to have something extra informative added in.
