AMC - Thanks for your efforts. Have a suggestion. Can you find a laser pointer to help ID parts and specific bolt heads? Easier for you for sure...
Thank you from a girl in Tennesse!
I just did this job with confidence thanks to this video. Honestly, grinding down the puller may have been the hardest part. I know it all would have been much harder without your help though. Thank you!
@@kylescott6638 Glad it worked out for you, good luck to you going forward!
Man I wish this video existed a year ago. Nobody ever mentions you have to modify the puller. I went through three pullers (with my car apart) before just grinding down the one you used. Unfortunately, two weeks after doing the job to success, I found the snap clips in my toolbox. It lasted 40k without those clips so here I go again..but your video is by far the best!
Yeah 150 bucks for a new one too
Have a 78 amc concord also! In need of a 904 tranmissin
My lights still work after I replaced batter but won’t start I have an 2004 grand Cherokee
THANK YOU!!!!
You need copper core spark plugs
I have a 98 jeep 4.0 jx and had some minor power loss and regained after 3 or so seconds, a week went by and would have power issues just like you said it would lurch forward at stops and then stall out, now it just won't start, I've taken the cap off, and same thing with cylinder 2 it's all corroded and I've replaced the cps, still won't start
2008 Patriot... I feel your pain my brother.
Did he you get a new wiring harness , and how hard was it to repl
Replace?
@@jeffereyroderick7006 Ended up selling the car a few months later, and never got a chance to install a new harness. I soldered the wires back together and let it be...
I remember doing this fix on my patriot, it was such a satisfying feeling to not hear the noise after the fix
I'll definitely get one for mine!
That's a hell of a trade up imo. Also I'm sure you know this but the pacer was supposed to get a rotary engine GM was developing. That's why the engine bay is so small. But GM dropped the engine because they couldn't meet government regulations and other issues. So AMC now had a car ready to go with no engine so they used what they had
Glad it's got a v8
So a while back my driver's side lower control arm broke as I was driving I was only going about 10 15 mph finally just replaced both lower control arms the tie rods and the axles on both sides and now my four-wheel drive light is on it feels very loose when test driving also I need to get an alignment done but it almost feels like possibly the strut when I was replacing certain parts the strut itself felt like it was pulling back and not just hanging straight down.. I spent about $435 on the parts couldn't really afford to pay someone to do the labor.. I did the best I could with the knowledge I had but I'm just curious what was causing my four-wheel Dr light to go on and why the steering feels worse than it did before I did the work?
I thought the 304 in my Hornet was a bit close to the steering shaft but it looks downright roomy compared to that!
I have a 304 in a Hornet of mine too…and I thought the same thing. I have no idea how I’m gonna change the spark plugs in this thing! Lol
Are you gonna bring it to joes BBQ in Kenosha this year
If the new Drag Car isn't done and able to go, than hopefully yes!
i have a love hate relationship with the pacer, on one hand, i find the car extremly interesting and cool, on the other hand, in my view, the pacer did more harm then good to AMC, and i do sort of blame it on AMC dying
The classic that was missing ! 23:07❤👍🇦🇷
You could buy some "vinyl and fabric" spray paint to repaint and color match the entire interior, including the seats, custom center console, and carpets.
I'm thinking that is most likely the plan!
It's a little beauty . I like it
That Pacer had to of been in Minnesota at one time. 93X is a local twin cities rock station.
Indeed it was! The second owner lived in Minnesota, good catch
My uncle had a maroon 78 and he stored it at my grandpa’s house when I was a liked. I used to play in it.
I’d get some maroon dye and dye that console
The pacer was originally designed to have a gm sourced wankel rotary engine. It’s amazing the smc engineers could shove a 304 in there.. absolutely love this car. It’s amazing that these still exist in this original condition
Lots of room compared to a Ford Aerostar. Mechanics wouldn't touch it. Nice car!
Good luck with it. Looks solid! Keep us posted.
Looks like she’s fairly quick too
So for the price on rockauto is that 1 bearing or for them both?
The price Rock Auto is for 1, I believe it’s like $72 each? Something like that
@@AmericanMadeClassics do you have e to buy the dust covers separately? Accidentally bent one of mine
@@DaddyBoys2 The dust covers come with the new bearings
My family had one. We loved it. My brother wrecked it or we'd still have it.
This thing is awesome.
I was gonna say it’s probably a good idea to silicone all of em
I love how these eagles have the dated hornet design, but in a sense and with the more added chrome strangely makes it look like it's an 80s car the body bits help with it as well!, also maybe you could explain more to non AMCers is the bumper caps/ changes from the full time to select drive and switch on a fly 4wd. Like when the changes happened
This is a pretty good idea, I’ll look into putting something together for everyone
i have a 77 hornet amx
You've done an awesome job on your AMX, keep up the good work!
Do you have a spare outside mirror? Possibly on one of the Swamp Eagles?
hi! could you help us with the number of the bearings
SKF 910912RSNRJ
I've always wanted an amc eagle, but I got rebels and hornets
'Promo sm' 💯
I slamed my passenger door and my window worked again!👍🏼😊🧡
Also working on peterbuilts, these window modules went out every once in a while
The wires have no flex. I just took out the plastic piece that holds the plug in the door. I also lengthened the wires. This allows for forward and aft movement
What about the sway bar bushings 🤔🤷♂️
You’re correct, I didn’t add them in this video. I replaced them earlier before I did all this. They’re really easy though, a bracket holds them down to the front subframe, 2 bolts each side.
Yeah thank you. Doing this in the few days once the bearings come in. The tip about the drill bits to break into the bearing race looks like it will be helpful. Just hoping I got the right bearing puller😂
Good luck!
Question - did you have to replace that sensor shortly after or did it end up working OK?
Worked just fine!
Awesome - thanks for the update. Appreciate the video!
I believe you should have around .006 thousandths of end play on your axil. Check your Spec Book for their recommendation. You should install all your shims and bolt your back plates tight. Using a dead blow hammer, strike the shim side axil shaft 3 or 4 times toward the differential. Now strike the passenger side the same. Use a dial indicator on the shim side axil shaft and by hand, push and pull the axil shaft in and out. If your reading is above .006 then remove the offending amount of shims. If below or no movement, install enough shims to obtain a reading and adjust accordingly. Great video. Should be helpful to a lot of people for years to come.
