I do not see the benefit of this aprs, looks like a waste of time. My Yaesu 500 has it but I have no interest in using it.

I have an Inreach 2. Someone said that you can set tracking interval to OFF, and then use tracking for yourself without paying for track points. Apparently its more detailed than the backup tracking that runs in the background?

how did you get your radio to only show ONE side for the dedicated APRS?

the Trace was not designed for continuous tracking. It may take to to 30 minutes to wake up after it sleeps, when motion starts again.

Has a date been set for when the Golden Nugget, Rokon and trailer will be presented to Ed?

How is cell phone coverage where they recover from? Im curious if you found out if they have a back up plan if they should become separated or stranded or do they always work in groups, A spot would probably work well for them if it could email the whole team upon activation of one. Which I think it could do.

Matt's shop, one week or give or take, Fab Rats a week give or take, Robbie Layton six months or more so my guesstamation is May 2023.

I've been following Fab Rats and MORR websites since the Golden Nugget's rescue and story about how it got caught in the rockslide in CA many years ago. I think it's FANTASTIC what this group of folks have and are continuing to do on Ed's behalf to bring some appreciation and joy into an old man's life!

If you see videos when they are filmed and when they are shown are two very separate things. Hurricane is a small town. Space for all the people who would show up for the Hurricane car show is mostly gone. The fact that the trailer is finished. The Rokon could have been done long ago and it could already be at Robbie's place with what little paint will be required it could be finished already. They just show us the video at a later date to make us all think they won't make it in time. It is very interesting that when they have been working on Mischief Maker and they pan around you used to see the primed nugget from time to time. Lately it just isn't there. So I think this is the deal everyone who helped set it up will be there. For instance could Beards and bikes come in and help put the Rokon back together and then be there for the event? Paul hinted originally that he would fix the exhaust once he got it back, then it got done just prior to it being sent to Robbie. So it could be put back together without Paul needing to be present. The crew at Robbie's could probably put it together just as easily. Matt is off all over he could be helping behind the scenes? Lots of speculation. Only time will tell.

The The Museum of Flight in Seattle has a Lockheed M-21 (Blackbird) with a D-21 drone mounted on it. Also a spare engine and the start cart used for starting it.

I'm guess the first week in May, 4th be with you, my father's birthday, or his death day, may 7th, when his force turned into memories of legend. Ed will definitely make it another year at least if not 2.

I believe that the reason for the hush, hush is because Ed goes into the mountain in the springtime and with all the hoopla it will be on Easter weekend at the Hurricane. the real question will mischief maker and all those who have stepped up and been apart of the restoration.

You need to paint the Rokan the same color as the Golden Nugget.

Easter Jeep Safari weekend I think it's April 16th

SR-71 The book "Sled Driver" by Brian Shul He piloted the Blackbird and authored the book with lots of exclusive photos. You can find it as a PDF to download. The book "Skunk Works" by Ben Rich Covers several pieces of information relating to the creation of the airframe from the engineers personal memior. It also includes pilot stories from sorties it flew.

Realistically I would say end of June

I was buzzed at low level by the blackbird back in the 80s.

Lockheed blackbird SR71 was made almost entirely from titanium. The nose landing gear is the largest piece of solid titanium in existence. At top speed (just over mach 3) the fuselage grows an extra 9 inches in length. Special tooling had to be made to work on this material as normal tools would not only not be tough enough but would also corrode titanium. Standing on the ground the aircraft leaked fuel because none of the panels fitted until at high speed temperatures Hope this helps PJS

I have the impression that Ed doesn't particularly care about it, it was just a tool he cobbled up to use in prospecting, and after everyone gets done polishing this thing there are two things that could happen. 1. Ed thinks it is too nice to use 2.Maybe he will try to use it prospecting, and beat it all up again. Anyways, all involved have made content out of it.

I knew one of the test pilots that flew the SR71 had to eject once, had one of the cockpit windows as a frame with pictures and crew posted under the glass. He has stories about that and other aircraft he flew while stationed at Kingsley Field in klamath Falls Oregon.

June 16

It is April 2nd already and the Nugget is still (at least) two weeks away from being complete at Layton Automotive. It will take Robby at least that long on his once-a-week schedule to paint and ship it back to Paul at The Fab Rats for final assembly and to make it run. Paul will need to coordinate with Chad at Chad’s Garage to incorporate the wiring and engine control unit. That is at least two may be three episodes. Still on the punch-list is the instrument panel and the dash. Paul earlier punted on this and so far no resolution has been discussed. Pity poor Chad! I hope Ed lives long enough to see it. Maybe if he cuts back on the Camel Studs???
