12:14 Hey Family, A few questions: 1. Where do you hide all of the homeschool supplies? And what is your usual homeschool schedule? 2. What were some big choke points in the decision making process of what to let go off and what to keep from your house? 3. If you could buy the RV and truck all over again, then what would you do differently (save for a better down payment, a longer lease term for small easy-to-pay payments, save to buy outright for less bills to pay, etc.)? 4. How do you budget for all of this traveling?
Hey! I'm going to number the answers in the same order so I don't miss any. 1. While we are mostly stationary, the girls are in traditional school. We have begun to buy the kids supplies and rearranged some things since this video, the girls supplies are now in the dresser in the master bedroom. We moved the electronics, and replaced them with the supplies. The girls also have a pretty good book collection we will incorporate into their lessons. 2. Sentimental items were hard. We are a military family, so moving and downsizing furniture was not too hard, but I (Shereka) am a big softie , especially when it came to sentimental pieces for the family or thoughtful gifts to us. Full disclosure, we did keep a storage room so the sentimental items stayed there (1 container per person), and we only brought a few in the RV with us. Holiday/seasonal decorations were the other stop point, we had so much, but we chose just a few items for each holiday so it fit all in one storage tote under the master bed. It takes less to decorate, and multifunctional pieces are your friend, for example we have a light show that you just change the slide show and it's a new holiday. For everything else, if you haven't used it in over a year, I promise you won't miss it. 3. This one is hard, looking back, we would have brought them at different times, but also would have gone for the toy hauler as well. I think we also would have waited to buy until we had our home rented instead of paying on both for a while. I also think we would have started looking further in advance to get a used truck vs new. Since we brought our RV first, we were in a time crunch and had to take what we could get to tow it home. 4. Budgeting is very family dependent,, but we started budgeting by seeing what our expenses are before any traveling, include your savings in this, to budget backwards essentially. Once we knew what the number was left, we just didn't go over that. We do a lot of free or cheaper excursions, and tend to stay at state parks, and now boondocking, to save money where we can. But we will do the occasional resort after we save for it for a bit. We have known several people to do work camping as well and that works nicely to save on parking and earn extra money to explore. Big trips we just save for a while like we did in our home. I hope this helps! Let us know if we can answer any other questions
Thank you for sharing fam!

When I was a kid, my grandparents would take me in our motorhome almost every weekend. Those memories are some of the best!!!
That sounds like such a beautiful childhood! I hope our kids look back and feel the same way!
Long intro
Thank you for the feedback
Hi I’m new to the channel and I think it’s nice you’re open to help how to organize you rv and more functional way.
Welcome! Yes, it is one of the biggest questions we wondered moving in and we are learning more every day!
My husband and I starting our RV journey 3yrs ago. Sorry that you experienced the toilet overflow. We were newbies without any experience back then so I looked at some many TH-camr which is how we learned everything we know. Glad I came across your channel. We just started a TH-cam Channel also. Enjoy the process of learning about your rig. Safe travels!
Thank you for the kind words! It has been a crazy journey, but we love it! We will definitely have to check out your channel, in 3 years there is so much we can learn from yall too!
What trailer do you have?
We have a grand design solitude 3740bh
@@OurFamilyRoutes do you like it?
@@JusticeLambyes we love it! We have 2 kids so we needed a room for them and a half bath for them. We have a video on our entire setup so you can see if it'll fit your family needs as well

Hi, Can you do a video on the rv loan process?
We can definitely do a video on how we brought ours! The loan itself was actually not too bad, we did disclose to the bank and insurance we would live in ours with no issues. The manufacture we brought is thankfully one that covers full-time living so that may have helped us.
Me & my wife enjoy watching your videos. Welcome 🙏🏾 to the RV community . We commend your Honesty because not everyone who is Rving started out knowing everything about it, we sure didn't. So I'm quite sure whatever questions you have there will always be someone to point you in the right direction. Happy camping and safe Travels. 🙏🏾🙏🏾. BTW ... New subscriber.
Thank you so much! We definitely thought we should know more after watching a few other videos, but we have been humbled the last 6 months 😅 We hope we get to see you on the road someday!
@@OurFamilyRoutes looking forward to meeting you & your family as well.🙏🏾

Hello. Stopping by to support you; wishing you all the best!
Thank you for your support!
❤Nice video, thanks for sharing! Ironically, your husband looks just like my older brother. Lastly, my suggestion is to declutter. You will probably have to store some of the items in a separate storage unit if you cannot part with them. (Btw, can you show us what is going on with the outside of your home.)
That's too funny about my husband! And thank you for the suggestion. As soon as we get it out the shop we are starting a new round of decluttering and recording the entire RV.
@@OurFamilyRoutes That's great to hear, I can't wait to view all:-)
Amen, awesome setup, I also have a dually duramax GMC to tow our North Point 310RLTS we love it but we have been looking at the GD 370FL.
We looked at the Sierra, but they were so back ordered when we didn't want to wait an entire year. Also we love our GD! It's the bunk house version, but all of the solitudes were so nice and the storage is amazing!
@OurFamilyRoutes Yes sir, I am glad for you guys, I want to get out there soon myself. It just my wife and I, our grandkids wanted to come with us and we tell them our 5th wheel any sleep two, lol. You guys stay safe our there and I will continue to watch you guys journey.
Is beautiful that you were giving your kids such a wonderful experience. You know in New Orleans, they actually have grave tours. I’ve always heard that Route 66 has some beautiful sightseeing place, but you also have to be careful because along route 66 is a lot of sundown areas as well. As always safe travels look forward to your next video and Happy Mother’s Day mom.
Thank you! We didn't know about New Orleans tours, our oldest would love that! We will definitely have to check that out when we get to Louisiana!
Thank God that everyone is ok and your home is being fixed. They say the RV/van life community a strong community.. It’s ablessing to see that so many people came to your aid and was giving you great advice. Maybe you guys can look into a Airbnb for a short term rental. Some Airbnb’s host will let you stay for long periods of time. And that 911 operator I feel she needs to be fired.
The RV community was amazing! We were able to get an airbnb thankfully, the owner was so nice and understanding of our situation and blocked it off for a few weeks for us.
@@OurFamilyRoutes My husband retires next year I’m working on him to rent a RV so we can take long trip.
@@Bigcat624I hope yall get one! At least for a little bit. If we didn't have our kids, we would have gotten a class c or a small travel trailer
Very nices home
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. I have one complaint you went to fast when you were showing us the rooms we really didn’t get to see it that good God bless you and safe travels. Can’t wait to see you on the road.
Thank you for the feedback! We will definitely do a full walk through once we get back in the RV to show some of the features it has
❤❤❤
Hi I’m new to your channel and I love seeing people that look like me living their best life. I would definitely say look storage in IKEA and Target as they have storage ideals for small spaces. There is another family I follow that have some great ideas when I come across it I will definitely drop it in the comments. Can’t wait to see what you do with the space and follow along on the adventures.
Hello! Thank you so much! We are hoping to inspire more families to get on the road, because it is such a freeing experience! We are definitely going to Ikea as soon as we get near one again! We had a few storage ideas sent to us that we have to find!
Hi just came across a family of 4 in the same RV. They took out the bottom shelves in the pantry and put in a combined washer and dryer in there. You don’t sacrifice the cupboard in the main room. Please let me know if you have received the suggestions so far
We haven't seen that yet! That is a pretty smart idea because you only lose one shelf instead!
We've been full-time for almost 3 yrs..We've been doing the same stuff..kids loved..Mt Rushmore, yellow stone..Nasa..ect..you guys are awesome making memories
That is so amazing! We cannot wait to see the Northwest region, there is so much beauty up there! It has been the best decision we have made for our family!
Get some hay bail then use the shirting then put a couple down out of shirting.
We have never heard of that! That is really smart, we will try that next winter! Thank you for the tip!
Hi just joined your channel. I have watched a lot of van /RV TH-camrs and suggest you go and look at Kristen Kasper. They have the exact RV you have and they re modelled it and she has really created a lot of new storage and space saving in their RV. They have 3 children and a dog in their RV. Try and watch the RV section from the beginning
And also we have to learn to DOWN SIDE in order to fit a smaller space
It has been such a long process, but definitely working on this
You can use individual baskets for all small things
Where do you get yours? We have had such a hard time finding smaller ones for the cabinets
❤❤ praise the Lord you guys are safe and your beautiful children oh my but at least you got to see the eclipse. God bless you stay safe.
Thank you! We really were extremely blessed to not take much damage and that we were all safe in the end. We are definitely focusing on the positives right now
This is so awesome! I'm looking forward to watching you guys get organized and situated in your new home. I drive truck OTR, so I live out of it most of the year. When I'm home in West Michigan, I usually stay with my sister or my daughter and son-in-law. That said, I am seriously considering a small or mid-sized Class C for full-time living and travel.
That is amazing! Once the kids move out, we did say we will likely go down to a Class C, they are so nice!
How Scarey!! Not going to lie, this makes me nervous moving into camper with kids. I pray it all goes well you guys!
I completely understand! Everyone we are working with is saying our circumstance is not the norm. Also, check that you have the switch box, if not, they are pretty simple to add from what we were told. It is has not deterred us at all.
