What do you think about the rest of Mira's products? like the CM-6M the CM-8M and their P.A.P.R unit.
CM-8M review is currently in post-production, coming out sooner than you think. CM-6M is OK-ish and it's more like any other industrial respirator these days. Their PAPR is rather simple but it gets the job done. Nothing out of ordinary as there are tens of similar blowers on the market.
@@cbrnacademy would you say that their PAPR is a good choice or would you recommend something else? what do you think about the various filters they produce or distribute? I assume you’re gonna recommend I get a Mask from Avon but are there any other (new only) masks you recommend?
@@gwydionrusso3206 The thing with CBRN gear in general is that most companies don't offer their products to civilian marked, hence where MIRA Safety has an upper hand. I guess the PAPR is good enough, I never had it or tested it as I own C420 from SafetyTech. Filters should be solid as they are also made by a Czech company. And no, you don't have much to choose from. Personally, if I were to buy a gas mask for example, I would look for a new, unsealed one on Ebay or similar online markets. MIRA masks are unbelievable overpriced as all the models from GuZu can be obtained in Europe for around 130€. Especially the CM-8M.
What kind of soviet asylum/r*pe dungeon door is that? 0:21 It looks absolutely wild and really brings the whole bit about the scary PRV-U resident home ;D Still my favorite mask to date.
Absolutely horrifying company with subpar quality products and even worse working conditions. These guys outsource cheap material and work with low-income Russians/Ukrainians. Stay the hell away from these fools.
Hi there, was this your personal experience as an employee? Although this has nothing to do with the OM-90 review, feel free to tell us more. Many viewers will be surely interested.
I just got a VPU for my FM50 and am getting significant feedback between the mic and speaker. It only seems to be significantly problematic in closed spaces which somewhat makes sense, but I am able to get it squeal with sharp head movements no matter where I am testing, or occasionally when just walking. Is this something you have experienced?
Considering you have both mic and VPU compatible with FM50, I have no idea. I only experienced the squealing issue while using C50 mic with FM53 as shown in the video. The best way to tell whether one of the components isn't faulty is to swap them with another set and test it that way, but even I have only one of each.
@@cbrnacademy If you have an opportunity could you check your model number for my microphone adapter against yours, some reading is telling me I may have an amplified version but I cannot find what that model # is. Mine is 71009/6. It still happens without the dynamic mic attached so I'm pretty confident its the adapter causing the issue. To further add to the problem, I've found the speaker doesn't blow out when I break the seal on the mask. Which again makes me think I have the wrong microphone adapter, since I'm semi-replicating the issue you showcased in the video with interchanging mics in the fm53.
Does this respirator good to use at underground mine gasses?
No, mining respirators usually consist of self-contained breathing apparatuses. This is a civilian CBRN respirator.
According to my usage of this gas mask in Zone for 3 years, I can say is very nice.
personally my favorite helmet style gas mask is the pmg 2 so much more comfortable than a gp5 and the pmg2 and also easier to put on
"Pick up that can" mask
haha, I played Half-Life 2 so long ago I didn't even realize this!
hey lad soo i got 2 things to say the mask itself (without the filter) is safe to use right? also from where to buy one is the kommandostore good place to buy it from or amazon? also when bought can the rubber be worned out?
That's right, the facepiece itself is safe to put on. The rubber degrades when expose to direct sunlight and heat so if it's stored properly, it will perhaps survive another 50 years.
Seems much to time consuming and cumbersum to equip and remove filters on this mask. Modern Gasmask is much more intuitive.
Amen 🙏
I have a question Is it safe to use my gp-5 gas mask filter The numbers on the filters are 90-1-73-72
No matter the numbers, the GP-5 filters are not safe to use. We made a GP-5 review a few months ago. give it a watch. But the story is always the same. We discard old filters and use safe, compatible ones.
@cbrnacademy or then how can I make a prop filter for like cosplays etc
we need a mf-11 review
The 4th size on the shms (tha actual mask in the PRV kit) is...... 0? According to a soviet chart
Soviet charts say 0-3, Czechoslovak say 1-4 so it's pure chaos. I went with the Czechoslovak numbering as the technical information about the respirator was much detailed in the CZSK books.
In my opinion SChMS has four sizes: 0,1,2,3. Collecting gas mask 30 years, I have NEVER seen size 4, but many times - size 0.
@hakade5846 size 0... never saw that size. Proly made in tiny batches
@@hakade5846 Looks like I made a mistake and picked the wrong chart. The size 2 is however pretty borderline and someone with head diameter of 69 would have a trouble fitting it in.

I feel like it could be a pretty good mask with only a few simple modifications. A 6 point harness, a softer orinasal cup, and a softer inner face seal. I've personally never had problems getting a seal on my size 2 masks, even with short facial hair. But wearing it for long periods of time puts a lot of pressure and pain on my forehead and bridge of nose/sinuses. I feel like a 6 point harness alone would help relieve that pressure by providing a more even weight distribution. Also make the solid black plastic lens housing clear like on the S10 it was inspired by. This would slightly improve field of view, while keeping the same design. Also add the small ridge around the lenses the S10 has, so it can actually keep outserts securely attached, instead of just falling off like they do with the current design.
Just a few hours ago, someone from Avon wrote a comment under a teaser for this review on LinkedIn: "A very poor copy of Avon’s ground breaking S10 Respirator" I never tried the S10 respirator yet, although we have two FM12s and that one kicks the hell out of OM-90 in every conceivable way. And we're talking about a gas mask that has been discontinued and replaced a while ago. Thanks for your educated input, I'm glad to have people like you sharing experience and opinions!
It's a shame because I think the OM-90 is a really cool looking mask. It looks especially cool with S10 outserts on the lenses, too. I just wish it was more comfortable. I've worn my S10 for 2 hours with a relatively heavy filter and I barely noticed I was wearing it. But the same filter in the OM-90 gets uncomfortable in only 30-40 minutes. But like I said, it would only take some tiny changes to improve the OM-90 by a massive amount. I don't own an FM12, but from what I can tell it will be almost the same as the S10. The biggest difference is the harness is rubber on the S10 and fabric on the FM12.
I know it might be hard to get ahold of one, but I’ve been super interested in seeing a review of the new Israeli SUPERGUM IM76 Gas Mask. No one has done it yet that I know of. I have really been considering purchasing one myself. Thanks for the amazing videos. I look forward to seeing every review you do!
We were overpromised one by a certain US sales rep to a point we cut the ties with the person. Sounded good at first, but sending it everyday for a period of two months is just simply too much. So now the only thing I have associated with IM76 is an extremely irresponsible and misleading communication.

I was wearing my shms for Halloween
I was wearing my gp-5 for Halloween
Why wasting money on expensive Halloween masks when you can simply traumatize others by wearing Soviet respirators? :D
@@cbrnacademy funny thing is I got a really good deal on my shms on eBay because I paid like $70 for 2 of them with a basic non standard bag and new old stock Israeli filter so not a bad price for being here in the United States also the black one I ordered is still on the way for Belarus
@@James-kw5yj good for you for sure!
@@cbrnacademy yea I dont get why they do buy a Halloween mask when a gas mask can do two things at once
Great video , yeah that is a hideous sight , the field of view must be terrible , I recently purchased a Canadian PC4/C4 gas mask and it’s amazing
Yeah, the C4 gas mask looks definitely interesting and it would be a great review material once I get one. The lenses look super funky.
How do you tell what size it is (small, or medium/large)?
There are two sizes available - small and medium. But I can't remember where exactly the marking on the mask is since I don't have M95 anymore.
I got a new one with the nato filter
Great! Just remember it's not compatible with NATO filters due to a different thread pitch.
@cbrnacademy i know my one is a Chinese knock off but at least it does not have a spicy filter and is probably made in the last couple of months if not a year or two
@@thelastvolcan7290 I've heard that Chinese are still using this type of gas mask in whatever industry which is pretty interesting. But if it's newly made and you have a good compatible filter to it, I can't say it's bad or anything.
@cbrnacademy I will say this it has passed the banana oil test so hypothetically it should pass any test just as long as the filter is correct which would be the standard NATO fitting
@@thelastvolcan7290 I could not find the banana oil anywhere I looked! It would for sure make our testing more practical and comfortable.
I watched a vid where the CM-8M worked pretty well on a guy with a full beard. How does the C50 stack up to that?
No one can guarantee you a proper seal of gas mask with any kind of beard. It might seal or it might not. The problem with this kind of videos is the fact that mainly paid TH-camrs promote Mira masks and I have already seen some pretty ridiculous claims in order to shill. We will cover the topic of gas masks and beards this December actually since it's very important. Also, OM-2020 aka "CM-8M" is not a good respirator overall and in many aspects it's even worse than its predecessor. Not a single advantage over Avon C50, it's a night and day difference.
0:39 Hey now, nice technique ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) the diaphragms.. I mean "protective caps" seem defective. No way they keep their contraceptive properties with punctures like these. Jokes aside, I absolutely love this kit. It held up remarkably well. Thanks for the great demo! The filter discs look like asbestos. Can you confirm?
Unfortunately I can't as there's no mention in the army manual about the material they are made from. Glad you liked the video! We're playing with the idea of making a more immersive field presentation of the kit next year, so stay tuned!
Do you need to put something in the gas filter? Or you can just use it?
you just use it
I once bought a vintage gp5 and immediately put it on with the vintage filter but I forgot to remove the cap on the filter and ended up taking a massive breath of asbestos
"A massive breath of asbestos" sounds like a great doom metal band name.
Hi you are from slovakaia, am I right?
Jen se chci zeptat kde jste byly schopni sehnat Avon masky a jestli nevíte kde se dají koupit v Evropě? Jsem si totiž myslel že se můžou prodávat jen v USA
@@AlexandrFiala That's right, we're from Slovakia and I'll just reply in English for others to understand as well. Not many chances of obtaining one except for Ebay. You can easily get C50 or FM12 from the UK in great condition. I get my masks from my supporters but I understand it would be great to have the possibility of buying them just like any other product.
I got one from Ukraine, gift from my uncle, I may get cancer from wearing it in 20 years but what the hell, I look cool with it.
That's the attitude!
From my understanding the inner microphone is 2 pieces, the dynamic microphone, and the adapter. Do you need the dynamic microphone with the adpater, or can you just use the adapter alone? Are the dynamic microphones of both the fm53 and the m50 interchangeable with the adapters? Where the hell can I buy the adapter for a m50?
Can't help you with the question on where to buy it. I mostly make videos about stuff others send me. Some time ago I was playing with the microphones as I hoped to make the C50 mic work with FM53 but none of the combinations worked. Since it was some time ago, in order to answer your questions I would need to disassemble the mics and try them out as you suggested and at that point, I can make a video about it. We wanted to make more videos about VPUs anyway and this is a great idea for 2025 content.
I think it goes by a different name for you guys. But could you do a review of the new CM-8M?
Yeah, OM-2020. The thing is I made a testing of the thing for the Czech company and it was very bad which of course didn't stop MIRA from selling it even though they knew about the shortcomings. They however invested considerable effort into me not speaking about it. There have been some changes implemented as far as I know and we certainly could make a review about it but it's an essentially flawed product on many levels. If OM-90 is meh, OM-2020 is ten times worse.
@@cbrnacademy much appreciated. Guess I'll just have to commit to the Avon then.
@@Monz117 If you can't try out various respirators, it's hard to tell the difference between them. Especially people with no prior experience and that's what MIRA counts on. You can't go wrong with Avon C50, we made a pretty comprehensive review about that one. It's a night and day difference and many people who followed my advice are content with what they got. I'm not shilling a product, I'm just saying what's objectively better.
@cbrnacademy I watched the video on the c50, and am very excited to see the difference from the om90 I got from Mira a few years back. Was just going to get the "cm8m" until I found your channel. I can tell that you're not schilling for companies, and I greatly appreciate it, as I'm definitely one without experience in the arena, and I definitely was falling for the marketing. Seriously, thank you! You've got my subscription.
Hi! Should we have the masks pre set up? Or does unbagging the filters and putting them in the mask ruin them by sitting in a closet until use?
Great question we wanted to address in the video about proper storage. I keep my "ready to be used" respirator with a filter attached. It's a new filter with the bottom opening plugged and I keep this setup in a closed plastic bag that came with the mask. In case of emergency you just take it out and don. This way the filter will preserve its protective properties for years to come.
My gas mask filter has a weird rubber plug on the base of it but I’m not sure if I’m meant to take it off or not since it’s really hard to take off and I haven’t been able to get it off yet. I’m sure I’m meant to since when I put filter on with the gas mask I can’t breathe at all and it is brand new
Hi there, what kind of filter we're talking about? I'm curious, so drop me a filter name or the company that produces them. Usually there is a plug on the bottom and a cap on top of any filter and yes, they need to be removed before use. If you watch our GP-5 review I battle the bottom plug as well since it was very tight and it took me a considerable force and around a minute to remove it.
What’s the name of the filter?
Anyone here former U.S. Navy? If so, do you remember those green canisters we wore during gas mask drills for fires. You like pulled a tab and the contents inside the canister, do to chemical reaction, created it's own oxygen...that's what I want...but I never see those discussed or being used outside of my short stint in the Navy years ago.
I know similar kind of rebreathers but they're old yet they probably function on similar basis. Interested to learn more so hopefully someone will give us answers.
@@cbrnacademy The Navy had hundreds of 1000's, maybe millions, of these unused oxygen generating canisters...they had so many that we'd activate them during drills, just to go through them and throw them away with plenty use time left. I was younger, didn't take training as seriously as I do now (Or survival) But had I known then what I know now, I'd of kept track of those supply chains. Those oxygen generating canisters worked, and were about the size of a water canteen, and cheap to make. I wonder what they're using now? I'll do some prying...lol
