This channel has had a name change from its former name of WARNERVALE STEAM RAILWAY to the current one, following recent changes related to the railways demise.
I have been asked to keep some video's of that railway available to be viewed for a period of time.
The recent upload of old film footage of railway activity from the last fifty years or later will be one aspect of this channel in the future.

No sound and no commentary abit dull ??
It seems like what we need to do is remove the asphalt pavement that covers up the tram tracks that are still here, that were wisely set in concrete to protect them from vandalism. Then we need to build about three hundred new trams like the ones that were burned at paddington, and to string up the overhead wires like before, and then we are back in business.
Correct they should never have stopped, a great way to get around Brissy. Saturday to Doomben or Eagle Farm and listening to the other punters stories of either winning or losing.
Thanks! Had never actually heard of 3830's speed run. How did she go against 3801's times?
from memory equal to the earlier run by 3801, but didn't break the record due to signal check approaching Newcastle around Civic.
@@afs5609 thanks!
Blame Clem Jones, the crooked mayor at the time, he even had the tram shed at Paddington burnt down.. had a deal with a bus company and a big fat brown paper bag ..
Ahhh, the old days in Brisbane. What memories we had. Rock 'n Roll George cruising the streets in his FJ Holden. Catching a tram down to the Valley Baths for a lunch time swim, etc, etc, etc. Life was so simple than today.
7:18 Dodge AT4 truck with Island Cab, for carrying longer items.
Brings back beautiful memories of me as a working girl in the city travelling to and fro every work day. Somehow it was relaxing to sit on the tram and travell ...read a book or knit or just gaze out the window....thanks for sharing! Nostalgia ❤
👍🏻 great video .
A trolleybus in Brisbane at 5:05! Who would of though we’d be bring electric busses back in 2024!
what was old is now new once again in a slightly different format
one of the very few photos i have with my dad, were taken here.
Where is/was this locomotive located?
the locomotives were located at Mountain Rd, Warnervale, NSW, Australia. Three of the loco's numbers 12, 24,37 are now located in the Morisset area twenty minutes north of the old location, the other two 19,43 are to found in Victoria.
Is this place like now abandoned
yes, rail & two loco's sold interstate, the other three loco's & carriages retained, relocated to another property & I have along with two members commenced to build another railway fifty two years after I built this one, see video on my channel "the new smoky mountain railway under construction".
@@afs5609 I will. Did the place go bankrupt or something? (Soryy, I like the history on old railways)
@@eggs_trains no, the property was sold to a land developer by the owner, who had inherited the railway/property from the original owner, who had been one of the group of three that created the railway back in 1970, unfortunately I was the only one left of that group when the current owner decided to sell the property, he had also expressed the view he had no intention of rebuilding the railway on another property he was intending to purchase with the money from the sale.
these engine are a beauty.
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. I was not fortunate enough to see Brisbane with the trams running. My dad and I planned a trip there back in 1968, but it never eventuated. For quite some years during the early 1960's, Brisbane had Australia's newest trams with the Phoenix cars. It was quite a shock, when they suddenly decided to scrap them. Maybe one day, trams may return there as modern light rail, like in the Gold Coast. We can always hope, I suppose.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The only reason they are bringing back 1800 technology and taking away our roads that we paid for, is bcse they want us out of our cars. Soon we won’t be allowed private ownership of a moto vehicle

Great video. Loved the steam trucks. I used to very much enjoy driving the Navy's Foden steam truck down in Victoria. It had bugger all brakes though and it was very challenging driving on the roads!

I still have photo's of riding on Eudlo in the early 1980's .. around '82 or so as a 7yo kid. Wishing you guys the very best in the new location.
l remember getting on one of these pale blue trams as a very young person. l only have one recollection. But l did think they were wonderful
Is Len still involved with the new one?
NO, he decided to sell the property, his loco & other inherited assets of the railway & move on to other interests.
Of all the states that need trams the most itd be Brisbane. Getting around is such a pain when its not flat.
👍🏻 can’t even drive to the local shops without getting stuck in a traffic jam these days 😳

Thank you for keeping alive the memories of our youth. A music track and / or appropriate sound would add affect. It is a shame that we did not have the wide streets of Melbourne or we might still have a tram system to enjoy - what a loss from our history. Many was the time I waited with my mother in Queen Street for for our tram home among many lined up down that street. Thank you for your effort.
Great stuff!
Thanks Ken, when I surveyed the first layout fifty two years ago & built the Warnervale railway with the original crew, I didn't think I would be doing this all over again.

Hi will this be open to the public or not 😢
@@jamesm2101 with the current policies of the insurance companies in Australia the answer to your question is no, as they will not cover miniature railways, oversea's insurance companies may at at a very high premium of $2.500 for a ten million public liability cover, & thats only for non paying friends & guests, I am horrified what it would cost if it was to operate as public carrying railway classified here in Australia as a public amusement ride.
@@afs5609 Thank you for that information. I wish you and your group well in this new adventure.
Thankyou Ron the Camera man for uploading such nastagia of Brisbane, Wow theres allot going on there ive got Google Maps and Streetvie comparing over there and today and its remarkable how the Brisbane Inner Busway was dug out from the then Queen St busy Tram intersection. unfortunately video footage such as this can go to a museum in Canberra where no one visits hardly or if they do its always rush rush watch 4 mins and go. putting such nostalgia on the tube to be viewed maybe with some old time music i think its the future of preserving our past. cheers.
Why lost? Why was it dismantled?
its been lost to the area it was located in for fifty years, due to the property being sold, the railway equipment & infrastructure had to be removed from the site, by dismantling the track & relocating to another location by some members, & selling off the equipment owned by another member who also own the now sold property.
Trams sucked anyways. At the time, they were also talks about ripping up the Railways as Mayor Clem Jones supports car dependency and believed that cars where the future. Autombiles were essentially seen as pods back in the day. luckilly, we did not loose the trains and instead electrified them

A great loss, hope it comes back better and bigger.
Me too
Was it that the originally owners want to retire or needed the land back?
none of the above, two of the original three members who started the railway in 1970 had passed away,(1997 2006) yours truely was the third member, one of the deceased members owned the property, he passed it on through his will to the youngest member, fifteen years later he decided to sell the property, as his interest in the railway had diminished to another interest of steam traction engines, the other reasons to sell was the money offered for the property & the area was ongoing redevelopment that would have increased the local council property rates. I removed my rail equipment along with another member, relocated to another friends property to start again along side two other existing railways, one 7 1/4 & the other 2ft gauge.
A great video with the wonderful sounds of 12 inch gauge steam locos. The closure was a real loss to those who love these large scale replicas and the thousands of people who rode on the line over nearly half a century. News of a resurrection in a new location is great to hear and gladdens the heart to all who knew the old railway. Good luck with the new construction.
Hats off to those who have the time, energy and commitment to keep these intriguing and beautiful machines going. We need reminders of times when we were not under the digital dictatorship.

I am unable to give the exact year, but it would have been either 1968 or 69
Some time betweeb January 1968 and April 1969. The HK Holden was released in January 1968, the new Victoria bridge was opened in April '69. The footage was shot between those dates.
In reply to Jack Holmes2: bad news, over two months ago, my loco's & carriages together with another owner's loco, were removed from site, they are now stored for future use & not for sale at this time, in regard to rail and the remaining loco's & carriages on the property, I have been reliable informed they have been sold to various individuals, by the property owner, it is unfortunate that this fifty year old railway could not be saved intact & relocated.
I'm sorry to hear that. It's just that I was hoping to build a Railway in the same gauge as 12 inches or larger in the Upper Lachlan shire for transporting fruit and orchards around. But what you said that the trains and track are sold individually. I'm sorry to hear that
@@jackthediscoverer good luck with your plans, I hope you have deep pockets, because you will need it, just as guide to how much it will cost you, to construct the railway at Warnervale in the 1970's the cost was $ 22,000, thats material + earthworks, that does not include labour to lay the track & purchase of property, length of track 1.5 miles over a 25 acre property
is the tracks dismantled and most of the stock is okay and intact in storage, cause I'm interested in them to one day set up a railway in the outback
In reply to Texasrailfan21 question why did the railway get shut down, for the railway to be open to the public it must first seek permission from council in relation to the councils zoning laws. When the the land was in the process of being purchased in 1970 an application was made to council for consent to build & operate the railway, approval was granted for a non commercial or hobbyist operation of the railway. one
Why did the railway get shut down I wonder I couldn't quite make out what you said in the description
Feel for you Len and your mates of your railway.
In reply to R711, at the present time there is no plan to re site the existing railway to another property, as the commercial cost to do so within a two year time frame, would be 3 to 6 million, this does not include land purchase, & as the current members including myself, are not millionaires, & the locomotives, rolling stock, rail, being individually owned its most likely the rail & equipment will be sold.
Great video, whats happening to the railway? I saw the title and am getting curious and a little worried
The information in the video is the current situation, unless this changes in the next few months, by this time next year the railway will be gone, I am not able to supply further details at this time.
@@afs5609 Dang thats really sad, such a great railway with a great history, hope the engines and rolling stock have a place to run in the future, especially with all the hard work you guys have put into it.

THE RE OPEN refers to small groups, not the general public, we could not find or obtain the millions of dollars required to obtain council approval again, or the thousands of dollars required for public liability insurance.
