Very informative. Thanks for bringing it to my attention

thats extremely bad for you.
Could you please provide me with published scientific research papers to substantiate your hypothesis? Nixtamalization, or the process of preparing corn by soaking it in a lye solution made from wood ashes in water unlocks certain vitamins and minerals in the corn and kept Native Americans healthy. Not to mention the minerals contained in the wood ashes themselves. Other foods such as ludafisk and 1000 year eggs are made with wood ashes. And, bread products used to contain wood ashes. For thousands of years foods were cooked over camp fires and pick up traces of wood ashes each meal from the rising fires ashes or foods were dropped in the fires accidentally and the precious foods were picked up and ate instead of wasted. Smoked foods are coated in byproducts from burning wood. Thus the smoked flavors. And, certain diseases can only thrive and survive in an acidic environment. Wood ashes are alkaline and thus would alkalize your system and therefore could prevent or even rectify certain diseases (from a biochemistry standpoint). So, much like vinegar, which people consume safely, its dose dependent. You wouldn’t consume gallons of vinegar a day without becoming overly acidic, you wouldn’t consume pounds of wood ashes a day without becoming overly alkaline. Just as one aspirin is ok for you but a whole bottle is bad. If you think of it as a “medicine” or a spice and don’t overdo it it could potentially even have surprising health benefits. As a TOTALLY unrelated side note, the medical and pharmaceutical community ONLY makes money if you are sick or diseased. Period. Period. So, if you and everyone is 100% totally healthy, there is absolutely NO need for them or their drugs. And, they therefore don’t make ANY money. So, does it benefit them financially to tell people the truth and/or say things that will keep them healthy? No. Or does it benefit them financially to tell people the wrong information to make or keep them sick and diseased? Yes.
Yum Yum.
It’s actually pretty surprisingly good if you like smoke flavored things.
I really appreciate the info. Because of you, I know. Charcoal has just come on my radar for garden and animals. Didn't know humans too? Go. Fight. Win.
😮 I think I’ll leave that experiment up to you! But again you post more good info I never heard about. Love the surprise ending 😂👍

Wow that bicycle pump really works well! Thanks 👍

Baldknobber....are you in Missouri around the Ava Springfield area
I’m kinda more Fort lost-in-the-woods area ;) Love Ava, great fall colors there!
@@baldknobber I've read about a group who called themselves the baldknobers from the Ava area
Yeah, they started out around Branson area and other chapters popped up in other places later. They were originally kind of like a citizen police force protecting their areas from bushwhackers and Jayhawkers doing looting and robbing and the like. They met on treeless mountaintops (bald knobs) on nights when there was a full moon so they could see ambushers coming. It’s a nod to heritage and history, that and all the other cool channel names were taken ;)
@@baldknobber right on. I've worked in Douglas County and a customer gave me a book their cousin wrote about the County's history that mentioned the baldknobbers threw the Ava and Branson area.
Just one slight problem, milk jugs give off poisonous gases when burned . .
True, but if it’s a life and death situation and my choice is either freeze to death or breathe a tiny bit of fumes in order to stay warm and alive, I’m going with fumes. Burning wood in an enclosed space also gives off carbon monoxide, which is deadly and actually what kills most people in house fires. If you are burning either out in the open or in a wood stove with a proper chimney/flue you’ll be fine. Don’t huff burning anything is the take away.
@@baldknobber My point was simply to inform, the vast majority likely will use this without being in a life or death situation, I too would use it in that type of need and would agree with you.
@lifebetweenraindrops Yeah, totally agree with you, not something I would do daily just for fun, but just another trick to have up your sleeve and possibly use to survive a bad situation.

Thanks!
Merry Christmas. Good tip.
Merry Christmas to you too! Thanks! I appreciate it !
@@baldknobber Hey dude many thanks for the reply. You have to be around here close, 9 out of 10 don't know what a Baldnobber is. Missouri or Arkansas.
Baldknobbers were originally a group that formed in Missouri during the civil war as sort of a civilian police force because there were other gangs of bandits and bushwhackers and jayhawkers that would come in and loot and pillage and rob and steal and kill etc. So they formed to protect the people in their area since there was no military or police force to speak of due to the war. They met in secret on mountain tops without trees (bald knobs) on nights with a full moon so they could see approaching ambushes. And they wore homemade masks (the one in my profile picture is an actual picture of a baldknobber). That and all the other cool channel names were taken ;)
Hope You and Oden Both have a good Christmas!
Thank you! You too!
Merry Christmas brother
You too brother!
Good tips if you hike or camp. Be imaginative.

Thanks! Yeah, I adopted him not long ago and he’s a pretty good pup so far.
😊thanks for sharing 😊

Merry Christmas y'all, I'm going to have Corn beef for lunch and make some charcloth tomorrow at the Christmas grill
So you’re coming by my cabin for Christmas!? Bring some no-bake cookies and moonshine with ya! lol
Isn't there a video on this platform where someone makes very efficient black powder from charcloth toilet paper?
Might be, never thought of it. I’d think anything cotton or paper based would work. I might have to try a few different things someday and let you know.
Could the key be used for handcuffs?
I couldn’t. Most handcuffs I’ve been a part of had a round key with a small hole in the end making it like a mini cookie cutter. I’m sure SOMEONE could, but I’m not smart enough to figure that out ;)
Excellent idea. Never thought of that one. I've recently started making homemade ones from make up pads and wax. Crack them open and you have a wick and they'll burn for up to 3 minutes, and thier also waterproof.
That is so cool! I actually tried something similar about 10+ years ago, but I was trying to dye the pads black so I could use them with a magnifying lense as a solar tinder, but gave up because the wax didn’t let them catch fire despite being black. Not with a small lense anyway, maybe with a 3’ wide one or something!Great minds think alike!
@@baldknobber yeah one of the 12 Stones crew had been bringing these along on trips and they we're working great so I asked him about them and he had gotten the idea from another TH-camr. I've gotten away from using other sources since I started making these. You have to break them in the middle to form a wick with the internal fibers, once lighted they'll burn for about 3 minutes. Which is plenty of time to add your first small layers of material and get a good fire started. They work great give us a shout if you bring these up in a video it'd be much appreciated. I just happened to see your channel in my suggested videos and subscribed. Merry Christmas and God bless!
@12STONESADVENTURES right on! Thanks for being here, I appreciate you! Catch yall after Christmas!
Good tip, thanks brother!
You are welcome! Thank you for the thumbs up brother!
Its kewl Tho, i would rather prefer to pick trees sap or fatwood. Or would just carry a candle in a can to not spend time gathering common firestarters in the woods. The only reason i would think of a plastic sheet as a fire starter is out of desperation or/and as used to separate carried load in your backpack, or old style cargo sack, as a hard wall to protect the canvas Either way, if its dumb and it works, it aint dumb 👍
Yeah, sometimes you have to think outside the box. If I can help someone survive later on when they need it by teaching them to plan ahead of time or think outside the box when it’s needed, then I’ve done my job. I forgot to mention you can use a credit card as a template and carry them with you. I mean, you always have your wallet if you’re a dude right? And I carry a type of candle in my bugout box, but I don’t always have the box with me. As I call it, it’s my “Justin Case” ;)
@@baldknobber Campfire for Credit huh 😂👌
You know, they “charge” you for everything now! ;)
Awesome
Thank you!
Thanks what part of Missouri from
Down in the Ozarks, you know, the proud hillbilly section ;)
You reckon those fish cans with keys would work too? The metal isn't as thick though.
I reckon so if it was tapered like that. I remember ‘em, but haven’t seen one in years. All the sardines I’ve ate recently have been pulled tab kind. If you find a brand let me know! Thanks!
Hilarious. This had to be a joke, right?
Sometimes you just have to use what you have available. I’m just teaching people to think outside the box and use what you have. If you had something better available to you, yeah, definitely use it! If not, these would be possible alternative options. People have made it in real life survival situations using some interesting things in creative ways. And if I can save someone’s life by teaching them to think outside the box and use what they have available in an emergency situation, then I’m happy. As the military says “improvise, adapt, overcome” ;)
@@baldknobber I get it. The title is misleading and I was genuinely wondering if this was supposed to be some sort of joke.
Makeshift digging tool
That too!
No not one thing you said was 100% accurate and it’s NOT the best survival tool. It is canned meat and that’s important to have. I like corned beef so it’s actually good eating, mix with shredded cabbage or shredded potatoes or as real Americans call it Hashbrowns, and onions and peppers and it’s some fine eating. Add a few eggs and you have the whole meal. That can is no better than any other can and worse than many because it won’t seal up at all. Cut the rims off 2 tube or chicken cans and they nest inside each other allowing one to make an alcohol stove by drilling some holes in the bottom of the top can. I have one such alcohol stove and it works well enough
I appreciate the critique. I have made alcohol stoves before. They work well other than the colder it gets the harder it is to make them work. They can be finicky, as I’m sure you know. Ps, the recipe idea sounds great! Thank you!
Thinking outside the box as they say 👍 thanks
You’re welcome! Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it!
Thanks for another top quality video. Excellent information brother, really useful. Keep up with the good works.
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement! That means a lot to me as well brother! I appreciate it.
