Kyomugisha - Haka Mukiga A Conservation Musician.
This is a beautiful love story told through this song titled "Kyomugyisha" which is written and performed by Haka Mukiga a Conservation Musician. Kyomugyisha is a word found in the Bantu-speaking people that ingeniously and currently live in the West and Southwestern part of Uganda "The pearl of Africa" is geographically found in the East African region on the continent of Africa.
By considering the etymology of this word, "Kyomugyisha" may have other meanings in various languages or contexts but specifically in the Rukiga language, it means "an act of someone, a day, a thing (like a guitar), a skill, a moment or even a piece of advice from a friend that positively attributed towards one's way to success in whatever endeavour they were tasked in and their desire is victory. This song is used to mean Luck or a Lucky Charm and it is also used by these same Bantu communities as a name mainly for the girl child and in certain incidences it is also given to the girls.
Haka Mukiga was inspired by his real-life experiences involving a professional musician's daily to-do lists that sometimes involve spending a lot of time on and with musical instruments ( guitar, flute etc). This in the long run creates an intimate relationship between the musician and his instruments, a case in point is Haka's first guitar which he named after his mother's name "Turyataha" which was the last gift she gave him before her life passed due to a cardiac arrest.
For Haka Mukiga it is (this act by his mother and the guitar) a symbol of love, acceptance, embrace, assurance, courage and support after a long discussion with his Mother - son talk about Haka Mukiga's decision to focus on the path of being "a Conservation Musician" out of all the possible professional carrier paths that were available then in his life then.
Haka Mukiga takes this guitar as a portal through which he expresses himself to harness the power in his naturally RUHANGA/Creator-given gift of music that he believes is also a sign of EKyomugisha or Luck. He commonly says that he didn't pay the creator to be born with this gift that many people out there try and find themselves naturally unfit for this path of Harnessing Sound Energy through Music only to be left to the, thinking, speaking and all music consumer dancing end.
For Haka Mukiga this act/guitar/music gift has been instrumental in inspiring, appreciating, giving meaning to his way of understanding and giving love because "one can not give what they don't have". Nature is the perfect expressional packaging of his "true love" and that is what the flowers in the video represent as the earth is also known as a mother.
Haka Mukiga believes that as it is for him, many different unforeseen attributes have contributed to the Luck of many people out there in the wide world because everyone has their own story, this song is to celebrate the power of positive vibrations constantly. The fact is that our global reality is primarily in sync with the fact that "Everything is in Constant Vibration", so let all vibrate positively to attract more luck or love in your life journey because one can't plant bean seeds on earth/ground and expect to harvest Jack fruit.
This song's video and audio were recorded in life and in real-time in between a resting time while on a film shoot in Kabale, What you are listening to is the live organic acoustic sounds of his voice and guitar strings. A big thanks go to the Creator of all things RUHANGA, the production team, family, Kabale community and Haka Mukiga fans worldwide.
