Halloween: The Resurrection | Shadows of the Unmade
มุมมอง 320วันที่ผ่านมา
Do not be fooled by the title! I am aware of the 2002 film, but we are not here to talk about it! We are here to talk about a spec script written by Daniel S. Duvall and Fernley Phillips! Which is very different from the film we got. The biggest being, it's actually halfway decent!

On our next installment of Post-Monster Madness III, I will be talking about one of the many cancelled sequels to Halloween: Resurrection! This one taking place entirely in Smith's Grove! As well as being the final official script that was made as a sequel to Resurrection before they decided to head a remake. Hello everyone, welcome back to Post-Monster Madness III! I have a mighty big video for you today! I am talking about the Holes we could've gotten! Which is the script from Donnie Darko director Richard Kelly and it is certainly a very strange one... Word to the wise, don't have Richard Kelly write a kids movie!

For the first installment of Post-Monster Madness III, I will be talking about the Phantasm film that never came to be. Which was considered to be for both of the fourth and fifth installments of the franchise.

You could fix Friday the 13th movies
You wrote this?
It's based on a script I found online called 'Halloween 3000' (you can find it if you search the name) and I talked about it a couple of years ago. I thought it had plenty of good ideas, just piss poor execution, so I'm rewriting it to make it work better.
Question remains With the planned Batman 4 Vulture be Penguin or Mysterio with Riddler?
should have never been a franchise ???!!?! dude gtfoh with this bullshit as long as Halloween comes around every year there will be sequels !!!
Maybe as an anthology series after Michael goes off into the night. But keep having Michael come back all these times ruins the scary nature of the original film and its ending. None of the sequels have lived up to the original. Not even great ones like Halloween 4 and Halloween 2018. Halloween is one of the greatest horror movies ever made and its ending would've been infinitely scarier if we never got a sequel. Much like endings of Black Christmas and My Bloody Valentine.
@@TheGeekInformant everybody go on n on about the 1st film ...JUST WATCH THE 1st Film! and dont worry abt the rest I actually think the 1st film is too much of a slow burn like the tv version better and H II was ALWAYS better and scarier to be and H4 is the best in the series
@@DerivCapital That's what I do. I watch the first and only the first. I watched all the others to see if they were good or not. Some are like 3, 4, and 2018. But the rest are mostly trash so I stick to the original.
Damn good my friend!! Perfectly told!! Great job!! Put it into book form and I would purchase it from you, excellent job!!
I can't wait for the future video about Halloween vs Michael Bay's Skibidi Toilet
Skibidi toilet is brain rot not even funny or entertaining in any form
Interesting idea
John Carpenter's involvement with the video game is that he's actually a cameo character in the game and said that its events are canon (take that for what you will)
Have you considered doing a similar fix for Halloween 5 & 6 or H20 and Resurrection?
I don't care enough about those movies to do it. But maybe eventually if I'm struggling with ideas lol
Damn son, have watched any of them. 😂
I've seen all of them now. At the time, I had only seen 1-4 and the DGG movies that had come out at that point.
I just need to see the scene of the girl petting Michael thinking it's a dog😂😂😂😂
If I were to take a guess it would've been off screen for that reason....
They should have left Halloween 2 cannon because that would’ve made sense that the whole town is traumatized after the hospital massacre
But then there's the sibling twist, which sucks.
@ they should have made that part non canon they can have the whole driving sequence where looks and Marion are talking but then it cuts back to the hospital that’s how they should have done it
Scripts I like -Halloween in Hell -Family Reunion -Retribution -Returns
Retribution is getting a fan film adaptation made
This sounds like it would have been a fairly decent Halloween movie. At least on-par with 4 or Kills.
The scripts I do like -Bits and pieces from Dennis Etchison's Halloween script -Shem Bitterman's Halloween 4 & 5 -Jesus fucking christ how is it all the Halloween 6 scripts suck? -Since no details are listed, I'd say Farrands original script that was reported to be so good it enticed Donald Pleasance to return and reportedly was supposed to have Christopher Lee play Wynn/Man In Black -The Lord of the Dead script that had Laurie return to save Jamie(only change is ideally Daniel Harris wouldn't have been fucked over and we could've gotten Jamie and Danielle working together) -Helloween
Woogedy woogedy
I came up with my own version of this. The killer is still Amber, but her accomplice being Tara. There was a bit in the original script where Tara and Amber were supposed to be girlfriends and I like that and it could've lead to them being Ghostfaces. Amber's motive is to recreate the events of the original murders. Tara’s motive would be Sam left her and it ruined her life. Her father left her. Her mother is the town pariah who constantly leaves her for work and her life just fell apart. Her life was shit and it started the moment that Sam left her. All she had was Amber. They became best friends, shared their love of horror and became girlfriends. Amber in this wouldn't just be obsessed with the Stab franchise, she'd be obsessed with the true crime aspect of the Woodsboro murders, to the point where she convinced her parents to move into the Macher house. They had to choose a fall guy and Amber plans to pin it on Richie cause she found some very DAMNING comments on the Woodsboro subreddit. Movie goes pretty much the same. All the same people die, but Wes is kept alive till the end. Side note, I would keep Vince alive. Amber pays him to kill Dewey cause he has size and muscle to be convincing, plus being the nephew of Stu Macher proves to be a convincing scapegoat. Wes takes Tara to hide to keep her safe makes a love confession to Tara and then Tara slices his neck open and says “sorry Wes, I’m gay.” Richie protests his innocence to Sam insisting he is not Ghostface and that he’s not Amber’s partner. Tara enters the room, drops the inhaler and pulling a Doofy from Scary Movie and says “he’s right Sam, I’m Amber’s partner” and slits his throat ear to ear. Tara and Amber turn to Sam and grinning in unision. Tara takes the voice changer. “Surprise, Sam?” Sam is horrified about what she just saw. She’s all alone and left at the mercy of her sister and her crazy girlfriend. Tara lays it all on her sister. “Why? WHY??? YOU. LEFT. ME! All I wanted was your love and you left me. Then dad left after you RUINED our family’s lives. And if that wasn’t enough, I was left at the mercy of our drunken pariah of a mother’s abuse. You left and I was the target of her abuse. I was the target of some fuckboy’s pathetic crush, the one guy I did like chose Liv over me. My life was shit and the only person I had was Amber. My soulmate, my partner and my love.” Tara and Amber kiss. Amber tells her desire to perfectly recreate the events of the Woodsboro murders. Sam, the daughter of Billy Loomis, Vince the nephew of Stu Macher and Richie Kirsch the new Roman. Sam finally lost it and loses herself in a dark crowd and gets revenge on Woodsboro and "and the movie ends with Amber heroically saving her girlfriend from her murderous sister." Vince would be taken aback by Amber's comments and that's when Amber kills him Tara and Amber were about to kill Sam together, but then Sidney and Gale appeared. Amber burns(but not killed, she takes to heart of "no one ever comes back in the Stab movies" so she plays dead) Sam has Tara at her mercy, but she can’t kill her. She leaves her alive and makes things interesting as the only Ghostface to be captured alive with Tara promising that she will finish what she and Amber started with Sam just hoping she can bring her sister back.
That also sounds A MILLION times better than the movie we got! Way to go! not a huge fan of killing Wes and calling him a f*ckboy, but despite that, great stuff! Also LOVE the username! We have an alternate Doctor Who history series going on too! So you might enjoy that as well!
@@TheGeekInformant Thank you! Oh sounds interesting. Watched your TCM 2022 fix it post I really loved it and it's definitely what should've happened(why is it so hard to get a decent sequel in this franchise? 2 and 3 and remake are good, everything else is shit) And the DGG Halloween Trilogy is the one we should've gotten! Now I'm watching the Canceled Halloween sequels
Great video thank you !
thank you for blacking out michael’s eyes
I just thought it made sense with the context not just the stupid idea of having his eyes shown. But that helped. lol
@@TheGeekInformant are you going only to plan doing only movies or you have plans for doing unproduced TV shows episodes and TV show series. cartoons or video games have you planned for doing any of them? I like to see you Maddie unproduced projects
@@diegolorente8435 I've answered this question twice now. Please stop asking me.
It’s crazy this movie never got made.
Yes! A period piece similar to Peter Jackson's King Kong would be a refreashing adaptation, make it it's own thing and don't trying to replicate John Carpenter's masterpiece.
I do like how this script addresses how bad the dirt is in Texas. As a kid in texas when I first read the book, I was baffled by the idea that they made them dig holes out in the middle of the desert. Texas dirt is hard as hell, it's why we don't have more basements even though we're technically in tornado alley. For a weak fat kid to suddenly have to dig like that (or even a fit kid like in this script) in the heat is just cruel and unusual punishment.
That's the idea! Sachar knew it best since he lived there!
This is horrible. Why the fuck even "adapt" a book to a movie, if you're going to change damn near every fucking detail!? Is it an ego thing? Who the fuck do these dickheads think these changes will appeal to?
Literally the majority of these unproduced movies scripts be like Jon Tate 🥺👉👈 pwease Jamie harris 🥺👉👈 pwease 😂☠️
Hey love the vid but would hope moving forward you don’t use ai images please
AI if fine, loser
I just grabbed the best looking image for the look of the character on Google. 🤷
@ sorry dude I just don’t want to see ai rendered images in my video. It’s off putting
@@alexisogbemudia5458 Okay, I'll think about it for next time.
@@TheGeekInformant I think the author of the story should get a chance to rewrite his story make it. I don’t know. Make it a TV show on on his original rejected idea for this original screenplay
I had no idea this was a small channel until I came to look at the comments, great work this is amazing
Thanks very much!
Can you do part 3 please
If there were more cancelled movies I would. I am doing a couple script read throughs for a few of these movies later this month. But only one of those, was not covered here. That will be coming out, hopefully, on the 19th.
@TheGeekInformant I'm trying to think of something
Halloween (1978) Halloween II (1981) Halloween III Season Of The Witch (1982) Halloween 4 The Return Of Michael Myers (1988) Halloween 5 The Revenge Of Michael Myers (1989) Halloween The Curse Of Michael Myers (1995) Halloween H20 Twenty Years Later (1998) Halloween Resurrection (2002) Halloween (2007) Halloween II (2009) Halloween (2018) Halloween Kills (2021) Halloween Ends (2022) The Strangers Chapter 1 (2024) The Strangers Chapter 2 (2025) The Strangers Chapter 3 (2026)
The Strangers has nothing to do with Halloween.
Well even if they received the funding Reggie and Mike are starting to get a little I hate to say it too old to play those roles any more. And the biggest reason that it would be a problem is that Angus Grimm is no longer with us and it would take a hell of an actor to replace him and I wouldn't even want to see it done with CGI
That's why I've been recommending animation. You could easily get a soundalike for Scrimm, and then cast all the other living actors and boom, make this happen. Unlikely, but I can dream.
This is a great franchise!!! it needs to be rebooted by a loyal fan with financial backing!!!
a "LOYAL FAN"...
Now that's a Halloween movie I would pay to see Laurie after she leaves Haddenfield & Lums as her therapist.
Damn, Kelly, we get it. Show us where the bad conservative touched you.
If Roger Avery’s wants to do an alert phantasm movie then he should do it just not with Don Coscarelli. All he has to do is stick to that story where it’s post apocalyptic before the events of phantasm raven then you should do it and I will find a way to get him to do the ones that he wants to do but not a final showdown with the tall man also known as Jebediah Morningside so I am thinking maybe the man himself is hell, prisoner, and the red dimension I think that would be a perfect name for that movie. It’ll be known as this if he does do it I can find out if he has a Facebook and name it this. Phantasm devastation And that will be a perfect name for it, and I can’t take place in between phantasm Bolivian and phantasm Ravager. If you still want to make it, he should do it. He’s going to need Reggie to be Jody and Mike before the events of phantasm raven and also have a different person plan to tall man Now that can be the storyline for the next one And I will see you at what I can do to get him to make that one
It's fascinating how similar the world is to the world of Southland tales. I'd always thought of Southland as a very post-911 story and I don't really know how to process the idea that it was at least partially conceived by or before 1999.
I guess things kinda just... worked out in that way.
Phantasm is very Lovecraftian in nature - quiet town, slow, almost dreamlike life and unimaginable evil secretly operating right under everyone's noses. The decision was made to make it a poor man's Mad Max, before even properly playing with incidental discoveries of the other world's shenanigans type of stories, let alone exhausted it. Creators pointblank shot phantasm in a head with the quality of the sequels, no one would seriously pour money into that, and so whatever this guy envisioned could've never been done on a decent level. And to be honest, giant head of the Tall Man... that's something else.
Awesome video never heard of this version of the film.,..awful, glad it was passed on.
Hopefully in the next 10 years, because I know our boy Michael won’t stay gone, he can go in the direction of Jason and get a movie about him in space
Fun fact: John Carpenter allegedly wanted to do that if he bought back the rights to the franchise in the 1990s when he teamed with New Line. But Akkad and the Weinsteins/Miramax had the higher bid. Although, many interpreted it as a joke.
Imagine what Phantasm could have been with just a lil of all the shitty Freddy Jason and Michael retreads
This video could stand alongside one of those multi-million subscriber channels. Incredibly well put together, perfectly mixed sound levels, engaging cadence of delivery of information, and a very thorough and in-depth look into something that might have been and (thankfully) never was. Though i donwonder how my english teacher in year 7 would have shown this version kf rhe movie to us.
Yet complete trash like Smile get made...and Blumhouse keeps getting money to keep producing crap knock offs of other franchises, make completely stupid premises like The Purge movies...and be allowed to butcher and ruin Halloween and now The Wolfman
Wow! Way to keep this geek informed! The idea for 1999 sounds totally badass. Never heard of it before. Let's hope the series gets picked up again soon by sympathetic and competent hands.
Just subbed after you came up on my feed! Liked the vid, I watch a lot of retrospectives. You have a good talent for presenting and editing. A few ideas: 1) shorter run time, I feel like the sweet spot is 20-30 mins or like 1 hr plus lol 2) slightly better mic - don’t need to go crazy, but the crackle really picked up on my headphones. Blue Snowball is a great place to start Keep up the good work! Can’t wait to see where you take the channel
Long run times are excellent for guys like me, who listen to video essays while we work. 45mins-1hr15mins is the sweet spot, for me.
I actually just bought a new mic (and it was a proper expensive one too) so I don't think that that was the problem. I tend to go REALLY loud in the beginning and then taper off after a couple seconds. More of a me issue than a mic issue. But I still appreciate the constructive criticism! I tend to not really go long with a lot of these videos so this is an outlier, but again, I will keep that in mind.
He needs to sell it as a reboot but really use this script. He can do it if they pretend its a restart. Sadly youll have to find alot of new cast.
Or have it go animated.
Phantasm is a great series and its a shame the later ones werent given big budgets. The later sequels arent even really bad and definitely not bad in the way most horror series go. It was just budget holding them back. The first film is classic and the second is great.
"You think when you die you go to Heaven......you come to US!"
That film would have been great, the suits as per usual are fucking clueless.
Great video!
Part 1 and 2 are THE ONLY good ones.
I'm still curious about the rest.
False, 2 is the weakest entry for several obvious reasons. Mike was played by a different actor. The psychic love plot is genuinely bad. Ravagers only real weakness was the budget. 1,3,4, and ravager are solid. 2 is fun and has some redeeming value.
@@josephshriner2850 I thought 2 was better than 1. Yea Le Gros is distracting but outside of that, it is a ton of fun. 🤷🤷
@TheGeekInformant I think it has some of the strongest visuals of any installment in the series. Le Gros isn't my personal issue (my wife and many other fans can't stand him in that role), and I feel like he's been paying his dues to horror for a long time. I agree with a lot of folks that it simply isn't the strongest installment. I feel 1 has a lot more heart personally and that 3 on do great.
Absolutely not. Oblivion is arguably the best of the series, splicing original footage of the original. It really blew me away. They probably should’ve ended the series right there, the ending was perfect imo.
Ravager I thought was the end of the franchise and that was the intention. Due to the actor who played The Tall Man if memory serves me passed away during or after filming. And part of the storyline was the ice cream man his character in the story had dementia if memory serves me and was dying. The actor who played him I think passed away a couple of years after that film was made. I don't know if there's any cast members left for them to do another Phantasm movie unless they replaced everybody with CGI stand-insHonestly wish we could get a movie like Phantasm 1999 with a big budget and actors like Bruce Campbell
Reggie Bannister is still alive, but Angus Scrimm has passed away. They could make it animated to make it work.
@@TheGeekInformant I forget if more than one of the four are deceased. They're all getting up there. Animated is actually not a bad idea if it had the right art style and a decent budget it would allow them to cut back on the kind of budget they would need in regards to they could put more into it without the high expense. Animation is technically expensive but no where near the technical costs of something live. Ghost in the Shell 2045 is an example of when animation goes wrong;(. Don't get me wrong I like the storyline but they used so much model recycling without any explanation I don't know how many people were too busy marching on their popcorn to realize the model they used for the new section 9 agent was reused over a hundred times as other characters lol. As an example they walked into an office building and all the robot secretaries where are the exact same model that they used for the new section 9 agent they didn't even change the clothing or the hair color lol. Every time there was a crowd shot there was two or three of the new agent somewheres in the crowd or more;). They recycled her model over and over for crowd shots didn't even bother changing the hair color. There were several people that they used for crowds and 4th tier characters that the models got recycled throughout the show. I love the idea of them doing Standalone complex and CGI but they could have done a lot better a job. They used a much older style of CGI animating that I didn't think was even used anymore if I'm right. Netflix has done plenty of animated series that were handled really well in regards to art style and overall visual appeal so it all depends who handles the project and what they put into it if it was done as an animated film or animated series. Would like to see them do Ash vs Evil Dead potentially and animated form given Bruce Campbell is getting up there and it would be a lot less taxing for the actor. It's a lot easier to sit in a chair in a sound booth and it is to run around on a set and do all the physical stuff
