I mean, this definitely only works going in knowing there's not going to be a sequel, because Jesus, man, you're just killing off characters right and left. How manpain does Arthur need? How many fridges need to be stuffed? And why is Arthur's lesson for 2 of 2 movie, "Mercy > Murder"?
I think it more so dealt with Arthur becoming more in line with his role as a new type of King and as a father. With everything coming full circle type of thing. You could still make a sequel from this if need be. You just have new supporting characters with Shin, Garth, and possibly an older AJ. As well as maybe throwing in a tease for Jackson Hyde later down the line. Dolphin can be introduced as well. I obviously couldn't recount an entire movie here, but maybe you could include teases to those characters. I'll stuff as many fridges as I damn well please! lol
I was working within the confines of the movie we got. Perfect world, yes I would've recast Mera and used maybe Vanessa Kirby or Rose Leslie as well as keeping Willem Dafoe. But I was just changing it from a script point of view but keeping everything else relatively the same.

I actually think you should have recast Mera and maybe keep her alive since Aquaman had no other love interest in the comics but overall I enjoyed it
