How to paint football cleats EASILY
In this video I'll walk you through the step by step process for customizing your football cleats easily in less than 2 minutes.
For painting cleats, you can use either POSCA pens, or Angelus acrylic leather paint - but in this tutorial, I'll be using both.
This is obviously a very simple example, but it can be used to do even indicate masterpiece custom sneakers.
Let me know down in the comments below if you have any questions about the process.

    I am just getting into this art form and am super excited to give it a try! I think I've got it figured out, but I do have one question- you mix 50/50 paint and 2 soft (I'm using GAC-900 as you suggested) for the base coat. But do you need to mix your top coat paint? Like if I do an image or text on top of the base coat, does that paint need to be mixed or can I just paint on top as normal? Thank you so much for this video and all your time. You're right- there are so many inaccurate 'tutorials' out there. I really appreciate your process.

    • @thatmadartist
      @thatmadartist 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @coolbyrne Hey! Excellent to hear you're starting this awesome journey. In my experience you don't need to mix an additive to your 2nd, 3rd and following layers beyond the base coat. Once you heat activate the GAC-paint mix the surface is now a completely different. Instead of soaking into the surface like a sponge, you'll now be able to paint on the surface of your base coat. Make sense? Hope your journey is full of color and excitement!!

    Actually acrylic paint is meant to be used on canvas (paintings).However if you're worried about cracking you should try diluting the acrylic paint first with Fifty percent water and slowly build up layers using this solution.Also extra details can be painted on with permanent (alcohol based) markers

Even if you blended the styles of two other artists, it's not copyright infringement because you have manipulated it into something new. Art is innovation and manipulation sometimes and that's perfectly okay. It's impossible not to be influenced by the things we have seen or admire, because that's just how the human mind works. Sometimes finding your own style comes from the process of mimicking others styles, doing it poorly, and ending up creating something unique

I'm trying to color a pair of black converse to a bright orange, and id like the finished product to look close to a store bought orange pair. (These are an older pair and i don't really want to buy a new pair that's orange, so i figured painting would be a fun project) - also, do you think the color would come out a bright orange, even if i painted on black? Should i airbrush it? Thanks a lot for the advice! (i was planning on just spray painting them until i found this video..)

    • @thatmadartist

      @nicothenincompoop949 hello! You can definitely get the orange bright and clear but not if you paint straight over the black. You'd need to put down grey first. Grey will neutralize the black and allow you to put brighter colors on top. Make it a nice light grey! Then, for the clearcoat, you can't beat Angelus Flat 4 coat. It's the bomb. Use to even coats of this and you'll be amazed how flat and matte it looks.

    If you really want to color your rubber midsoles the you need to first thoroughly clean them with acetate, let them dry...then mix up some dylon dye in a big oblong pot boil it, turn off the heat then suspend your shoes into the dye mixture so that only the soles and midsoles are covered and let the dye cool...2 hours later remove and see the results. Dylon works wonders on synthetics and rubber, not so good on natural fibers. I used to buy it in the US and here in France so it is internationally available , it's a powder form in a tiny pot, you mix it with water and salt, I would personally double or triple the dose if you want the rubber dark.....

      Hmm... well, I'm not going to lie, if you are a beginner, it doesn't matter which one you choose. Any cheap one will do. I think about gravity-feed one (the paint cup on top) is a good way to go. Just prepare yourself that it's quite a learning curve! My experience with airbrushing is simplified as following: "Why isn't it working? I just cleaned it and now it's blocked. The paint is too thick, now I need to clean it again and thin it. Now the paint is too thin. Why is nothing coming out?? Why is too much coming out!!? It worked perfectly BUT I DID THE SAME THING AS EVERY TIME IT DIDN'T WORK!!!" Great video, very informative. Could someone please tell me what's the best type of fabric to use on air Force ones? I see people customizing shoes with fabric either on Nike toe or around Nike symbol and I recently started customizing shoes mostly just painting with Angelus but they never say the kind of fabric they are using for the shoes in the YT videos. Are they using cotton for breathability? Can you use satin?.. thank you in advance

    • @thatmadartist
      @thatmadartist หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! Thanks so much for the kind words. I know exactly the kind of customization you're talking about, and this is the best answer I can give: Breatheability isn't really a factor (because not matter what you use you should punch holes with a pin/nail/toothpick in the same areas as the shoe itself). So when deciding on fabric your number one concern should always be flexibility. Because as the leather shoes bend, then fabric is going to need to bend as the same degree - and when the leather ages it becomes even more supple - so you want a fabric that will keep up with that. So. Which fabric should you use? Any should really work if you don't put it on the very flexible areas of the shoes (where it bends). The toe boxes and the inner section bu the swooshes get minimal flex! Also. While sewing completely would be ideal - if you glue, be careful not to allow any of the glue yo remain exposed on the actual leather because it will look awful when it discolors with age Hope that is helpful 😁😁

    Pls explain how did you write letters ,Steps

    • @thatmadartist
      @thatmadartist 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @321nimesh hey! So the lettering I did several different things and they all worked well. Technique 1: I created a masking tape stencil for the outline for the letters and sprayed it white. Then I took black paint and a paintbrush and refined the letters by hand. Technique 2: I tried to make a more detailed masking tape stencil but this was just too much effort and too much to go wrong Technique 3: I used a toothpick and some thinned white paint (so it wasn't too thick and globby) and I hand painted the text with that. Toothpicks are great for getting consistent thickness with small stuff. I did this Technique on the heels of these shoes. Hope that is detailed enough!

There have been many lawsuits in the past where people have changed the words of famous logos to say something different, like "coca cola" changed to "Chill out" but at a glance still looks like Coca Cola - being determined as not okay. I guess it comes down to the level of risk you are comfortable with!

Since I've moved & got a better job I've been buying more supplies for painting my one sneakers. I will only replicate someone design so I can practice drawing Since I can't draw for crap. But I would not Sell a custom design from someone's hard work and take credit for it. I just wanna put something on my sneakers that's fan art. That's if I can even trace it right & Paint it right.
