Hi Nicole! As a student at Orfalea College of Business, (Cal Poly) I have had the absolute best experience with the curriculum along with the ability to connect with top tier companies and get internships. From my personal opinion (could be biased), I don’t see many other business schools at all being any better than SLO based off of the opportunity I’ve had. From my opinion, SLO business program is much much better than Pomona’s and rankings can support that as well if you need that confirmation (even though Cal Poly is so underrated)

Hey Rishi, I am being completely honest when I say this.. I believe the career services is (& Business specifically) is one of the best things at Cal Poly. You have so much guidance in getting jobs and internships and if you utilize what they offer, I can almost guarantee you will get one of your desired internships / jobs.

to my knowledge, conditional acceptance means that if you complete all the classes you said you were going to take in your application to Cal Poly of your senior year with a C or better than you're in.. My understanding of it. Lmk if I am wrong

I would personally say your best bet is "Mindful Living," Usually cool people live there (so it will be fun) & it makes sense bc Cal Poly wants "mindful people" to live in the new dorms so they take care of it

Hey Taeyoon. Yes, 100%. I am a double concentration student and have had the opportunity to interview and get intern offers from the Big 4 as a 2nd year for my 3rd-year summer already. Apple recruits heavily from Cal Poly as well. It is top tier without question

Christian and Dane is it hard to declare a double concentration at cal poly? i know switching majors can be difficult

if you are talking about a double concentration in business, they unfortunately no longer offer the double concentration to students anymore. For other majors I am not so sure. Switching majors can be relatively easy as long as you keep your grades up! If you want or thinking about switching, I would definitely not shut that option down

As a transfer, you will have the option to live on campus at the poly canyon village / Cerro vista apartments or find apartments/houses on your own off-campus. Worthy to note that PCV and Cerro Vista apartments are relatively far from the campus (Even though there listed as on-campus) as there are some housing off-campus at the same distance. But, off-campus housing specifically houses, are sometimes hard to come by.

what’s the most common thing that the transfers do? on campus apartments or off campus housing

I have heard transfer doing both options. From my personal experience, I would say if you are going for a more social vibe get, off-campus is where that is. An apartment community off-campus is real as well

Because you apply to Cal Poly through your major, your stats and I guess the probability of getting in varies on the major you applied under. As a business major I had 4.5 and mid-1300's SAT but again in accordance for your major. Other majors will require better other less. But, there is an extracurricular section when you apply and I had a lot of extracurriculars

When we were in the housing selection process it depended on the living community you chose to be in and then those were "randomly" placed in dorms.. I believe the process is much different now and you have some say where you want to go but if it is anything like our year pick the living community "mindful living." They always end up in new dorms bc i guess Poly wants "mindful" people to be in the new dorms which makes sense.

Thanks man appreciate the vid! Recently was admitted for marine bio and leaning towards poly forsure . If you’ve heard anything about the marine science major there, would like to hear some student insight on it. Anyway thanks a lot!

@@jadenhansen5310 What is good my brother Jaden. Congrats on your admission! Personally neither of us are in marine science. I do not know too much about it, but what you can do is look at the of marine science professors and look at their ratings and see what people think about the different classes are professors. If you have other questions, let us know!

This is definitely something I’d take up upon a cal poly admissions counselor! Obviously we just a student here I can’t promise you anything but from my experiences you should be 100% fine. As long as you didn’t submit wrongful grades and nothing severe again should be fine. Definitely choose poly!

I can promise you that aerospace at Cal Poly is the move. The learn by doing philosophy here could not be more evident in majors such as aerospace engineering

Whats good Sean, there are definitely some people that keep to themselves but you will find that in every dorm complex. However, at least from our experience we found plenty of people who were outgoing. When the weather is nice there are always people hanging out and playing spike ball on the lawn and I think it was a great place to spend freshman year.

Christian and Dane any advice on most important things to consider when living in the dorms?

@@seanthompson7451 We didn't live in Red Bricks so its hard to compare living in them to Yak. We were fortunate to live in a double but I still think a triple in Yak is better. There are little things Yak can improve on such as water pressure in the showers but the rooms are clean, its close access to the new market this year, right next to Yak lawn, and there is a lot of space for storage. It seems Red Bricks is one of the most social but Yak fit my needs socially so I hope that helps.

Whats up Luke. Honestly, you are pretty much right; the water pressure isn't that great. I feel like the showers aren't bad but the water pressure is just one of the negatives that comes with dorm life hahah. Maybe it was a little different because it was during SLO days..? But, you will certainly get used to it and I am very pleased to hear that you got the new dorms. You should be hyped hahah.

thank you for the comment Ty. It really depends on the major as engineering/architecture students may have a harder time with classes. I am a business student and have had no issues really at all concerning registering for my major courses. Though, you need to plan ahead and be on it so you don't have issues. Honestly, you likely won't get your GE's of choice as upperclassmen have prioritization with registering; so have plenty of alternate GE's you could possibly choose/do as well.

Honestly, it wasn't awkward for me. Not sure what other people felt, but from my experience everyone respected each others space and it worked out well.

Honestly, it is something pretty easy to get used too. Cal Poly does a good job of making sure you have the privacy that you do need with the bigger bathroom and shower stalls etc.... There are times when it is I guess you could say a little odd but again something to get used too and I feel like people tend to be a little more conservative when in the bathrooms.
