My friend and drummer, introduced me to HUM in 1998, he died 3 months after Inlet came out, and shortly before Matt died. We used to cover Stars and that first fill will ALWAYS make me think of Ryan Q. Miss you buddy.

I come back and watch this about 3 times a year. Tucker's cover of The Casualty is so good. Does anyone know what Zildjian A he's using on the top left of the video? It sounds incredible

I didn't realize how huge an influence Bryan was on my drumming until I listened back to some of my first recordings with my band. Then it clicked just how much he'd shaped the way I play. I was thrilled when the band dropped Inlet in 2020 and devastated when he passed, he and Hum will always mean a lot to me.

thank you IDC for your channel and posting this! finally hearing the story of the fire where fred lost his bass. i first heard of it from my bass player in jan 2020, probably right after it happened. i misfiled that remark as something about the band just a fire that fred played in as well. then recently came across fred's instagram with a photo of the remains of the bass. what a story and such a shame. fascinating to hear it was the cheapest bass in the store at the time. the washburn vulture II, part of the "wing series" (79-82?) made in japan, is quite unique and rare. the neck pickup jammed at the butt of the neck and neck-through body on the ten-pound instrument i would think help it sound so huge. the vulture I had a centered p-pickup--not up at the neck--and not an additional j-pickup like the II. there was also the washburn scavanger which looked like the vulture I with the centered p-pickup. that was either a predecessor or lower-end model. on all of them, the long neck with the symmetrical body means lots of neck diving. it was funny to hear fred mention it. but they look cool as hell and, of course i only know of them from trying to figure out what kind of bass he'd been playing all those years. so thank you fred for not buying a cort that day, your story, and condolences on your iconic instrument. those washburns pop up on reverb from time to time. but i can imagine the fenders you're playing these days are a joy in playability comparatively :)

Erin is one of the best drummers. His beats in MTB were amazing and brought that heavy high hat/hip hop sound. I hope he does something new.

Glad to see DLJ isn't forgotten. There'll never be another two records like the self-titled and Yank Crime.

Bryan was my favorite drummer in my favorite band. He was creative but not showy, powerful but sensitive, perfect for the music. I remember convincing my teenage band to cover I'd Like Your Hair Long just because I wanted to play his parts live. RIP to the best and condolences to his family and the HUM family.
