picoTracker does pulse sync with the Freaq
This is a quick video demo of the picoTracker beat syncing with the Freaq FM. The picoTracker doesn't (yet!!) support sync pulse out so in this demo I'm using the NTS-1 to take MIDI clock out from the picoTracker and pass on the sync pulse out to the Freaq.
The picoTracker and Freaq make an awesome combo, I'm going to be trying them out together in a proper jam session soon!

The picoTracker doesn't currently have ADSR envelope support, but thanks to the table function for sample instruments in picoTracker we can still approximate having a ADSR envelope on the pico.

Preview of the ML-2 R1
มุมมอง 7012 ปีที่แล้ว
The ML-2 is intended to be a standalone "groovebox". It's built using the Akai Fire as the hardware, using Dart to integrate LibSunvox for the "audio engine" providing synths, sampler playback, effects and step sequencing. This is a very quick demo of the upcoming R1 release which implements the "module mode" and "note mode" of the ML-2. The next releases will add project management and step se...

demo of work-in-progress of Elfer

Elfer is intended to be a small "companion" app for the Korg Electribe 2, making it easier to quickly edit patterns step data. It uses a "mod tracker-style" user interface. While it cna be controlled with the keyboard when running on a laptop, the plan is for Elfer to only be a "screen" and use as input only the Electribe's controls: buttons/pads/dials, though this will only be possible when us...

My very first piece ever. Recorded directly from the Electribe into the Pixel 4a recording the video using a Behringer uca-222. No post processing except to increase gain a little since I recorded with the sound levels bit too low. I guess its kind of lofi without any samples?

is MIDI In supported?
Yes MIDI IN is supported, though its not been tested much so likely could have some issues, but enhancing MIDI IN functionality is a high priority on my todo list!
@@maksmakes Then I guess my MIDI in circuit doesn't work. Tried to trigger some sounds by connecting and external MIDI keyboard. Picotracker doesn't produce sound. But when playing back a project from within picotracker- there is sound.
@Electronic_hobby I wouldn't expect just connecting a controller and pressing keys would make any notes sound as I think the current midi in support is limited to control via key inputs. Id suggest joining the Discord and I or others can try to help you more with it.

Sunvox is your friend my friend.
Yes Sunvox is awesome, if you like Sunvox, you'll probably be interested in my ML2 project where I used libsunvox as the audio engine for the custom groovebox I built using the AkaiFire as a custom control surface: th-cam.com/video/JpadEkXXo2E/w-d-xo.html
do you have the download link?
skip to 5:13 for the info you came here for not 10 minutes of blabbering
Seems better sequencer can be done by web midi and a phone, but better just using 1 piece of equipment on the go.
Forgot to mention for anyone who does want to try out MIDI out there's currently a known issue where you need to save and reopen a *newly* created project to get MIDI out to start, after first open, the project will put out MISI just fine.
I noticed there has not been any commits to the git in awhile. Is the project still being worked on? Also will stock for the kits be back any time soon?
@@princedenzo yes very much so, we have a new release about to come out with a huge amount of new features and improvements. If you can, join our Discord as the announcement is there and we'll post there when beta testing of the new release is ready.
Unfortunately there a known bug where after you create a new project with a MIDI instrument you need to first save and reload the project to get MIDI output to work, sorry about that!! Its tracked here: github.com/democloid/picoTracker/issues/43 if you subscribe to that issue you'll get notified once its been fixed.
Where can I buy it?
The last few units of the final batch I will make are available here: reverb.com/au/item/81150262-picotracker-portable-v1-2024
I was stuck on how to "monitor" myself (I was inputting Maschine sounds into Koala, iOS) at first I thought there was no way to hear what you were recording into Koala, even tho it WAS recording well, But all i needed to do was hit the headphone icon
I love this channel !
I can’t find the answer online and I’m panicking because I just bought one thinking it was a headless M8 situation hahaha- does this Picotracker have synth engines or is it only a SAMPLE based tracker? Thanks in advance
it is 100% *NOT* a headless M8. It has *nothing* to do with the M8. The picotracker currently only supports samples. If you are referring to purchasing one from the tindie listing, please just get in contact through the "contact seller" function and you can get a refund.
@@mksln Thank you VERY much for the quick reply. I’ve been running a headless M8 (weakly) on an RG351v and it’s absolute heaven (when it works). I was able to cancel my Picotracker order. I appreciate it!
Thanks - it's a start. Just got my picotracker
Thanks, that's very useful!

I've got a listing on tindie for the kit: www.tindie.com/products/maksmakes/picotracker-kit/
Pure genius.
Thanks! I'll take it you are referring to the MIDI function and not my terrible tune 😅
awesome, didn't expect to see midi working so soon :)
Awesome Work 👍🙂
Thank you!
Your phone has an input jack? Never seen a phone with an input, only an output.
It sure does, the TRRS jack is *both* mono input and stereo output, that's how you're able to use a headset with a mic on phones which have a 3.5mm jack.
I think Jon Jones needs one of these! Lol
Please do a comparison of the RG280v and this! Very, very cool.
Thanks, yes that's a great idea! I'll make sure to include a comparison with lgpt on the rg280v.
@@maksmakes If you have an RG35XX LGPT runs very nicely there too...
Super exciting to see!
Hey Maks Makes, I am working on a project that made me think of your channel. I am using a FPV DVR to convert an old VHS-C camcorder to micro SD.
Hey nice job getting it to run! =D Quite some audio dropouts going on there tho?
Mine sounds the same, while lgpt runs fine on a bittboy 3.5. What can be done to remove the noise crackling?
Very sorry to be so slow to respond, I only just saw your comment! Yes others have reported this same issue running on the new "beta" builds of the firmware. I'm going to have a go at getting this fixed soon, using the picotracker fork as a starting point.
@@maksmakes I'd recommend you checking if you can get it to build without libasound and libjack and just letting SDL handle audio. This has proven effective for the miyoo build that member of the community has been working on
Brill thanks @DJDiskmachine I'll look at doing that as I already had on my to-do list to try porting to SDL2 to get it working on odroid go super as there the Linux distros only support SDL2 for good gfx perf.
I went through this same tortured process with cables. I actually did give up! Now I can see the way forward. Thanks.
nice thanks
This synth is great. The possibility to load original DX7 sysex is fundamental and makes this app wonderful. Pretty straight forward. I find it really useful to edit and create my own patches in dexed so I really don't think I need editing functions as it is more practical to do it in a computer with proper screen size. Perhaps adding aftertouch mod would be fine. Since I installed last version on my xiaomi redmi 10 I have a latency issue, which didn't happen in previous version in my xiaomi redmi 5. The thing is that I do need channel choosing function. Any tip? If you ask me I'd choose the possibility of channel setting in old version since that phone is now being used as a midi device only. Thanks for the app. Already left a comment in playstore
Thank you, I'm happy to hear you like using the patch loading feature. I'm not sure why there would be a latency issue on the redmi 10 as I haven't changed anything in the app code that would be related to midi latency. I suspect it may be to do with the app needing to target newer versions of the Android SDK to meet Google Play policy requirements. I do have on my todo list to switch to using the Android MIDI system interface instead of the old USB Midi handling code inside the app, so that may improve the latency on newer devices but I'm afraid I don't have a time line for when I'll have time to get that done.
@@maksmakes I understand. Thank you for the answer!
Great work so far!
Thanks Floyd! I'm going to do a more polished video once I get sequencing working, taking tips from how you do your great videos! 🙂
Thank you, this is a great solution, and one I will use. Much respect.
Thanks for the tip. What's your Android brand? I tried it with a Nokia C1 2nd Edition, it accepts OTG, I used 2 interfaces (one similar to what you used and a Xenyx 302 USB), but it didn't work. Funny that it even powered the Xenyx up.
I've done this with several Android devices including Pixel 3a, 4a, a Lenevo 8in tablet, I think it should working with any fairly recent Android device which supports OTG - it maybe your C1 can't supply enough power though for your audio interface?
@@maksmakes I figured that I have a dodgy USB interface. As for the Xenyx, I will further experiment. But I'll try this mod :-)
Hey, I have one of those, both of those coincidentally. Somewhere in a drawer, completely forgot! This is excellent, thanks for the experimenting, I was honestly about to order a splitter because it was such a hazzle getting a sound into my samsung koala. Glad I searched a bit first and found this. Cheers, mate. Now if only I had a short usb c->a cable, it seems a but clunky with the brick there into the phone.
Glad it was useful for you! On the subject of short usb-c->a cables, I got one of these recently for use connecting a teensy running M8 to a handheld game console and it works very well: www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B01LX0IF95
@@maksmakes excactly something like that, yeah. Gotta go look for that. The setup so far works like a charm. Been using it couple times already. Thanks again for the tips.
its fundamental to listen to the keyboard and the koala, to figure out the recordings
Hey Maks, can you get LGPT working on the 3DS?
Sorry but I don't have a 3ds or even know what toolchain is needed to build for one, so it's not likely I'll be able to.
So why can't it just record through the aux mic input?
You have to have trrs jack like the ones that come with headsets. The jack is divided as left right mic. You notice these jacks have three rings instead if two.
@@theledleague I get that, I thought I tried that, and I haven't seen or heard any explanation of anyone doing it.
I've cut a headset wire just before the mic and rewired(twisted) lol, the mic wire and married it with whatever input I wanted. Just remember When you activate the input you're canceling out the Androids microphone also you have to make sure that your wiring external speakers or whatever output you want so you can monitor whatever you're recording
@@theledleague So it's mono input only, right? Also what version of Android were you using. Looking back it could be possible that the cable I was using was just broken. I've switched Koala to a first gen iphone SE at this point because it crashes way less and the sound quality is much better.
You can, you just gotta restart the app and plug the source into the mic input again. It's trial and error, I'd recommend the audio interface over this method for better sound quality, but it does work.
awesome work. some questions: 1) would this app also (in theory) work on linux? 2) would this also work for the electribe2 sampler (without any firmware hacks?) 3) would a 'save-pattern-on-keyrelease' in theory be possible instead of the 'send-E2' button?
Hey, I just ordered a PowKiddy Q90 for LGPT. I think I will prefer the horizontal arrangement... Also coincidently, today I used the HDMI to USB device I bought off the back of your video! Did you buy this on the back of the Dirtywave M8 release too...?
Hey Maks, back again with an update! The Powkiddy Q90 arrived, I have set up LittleGPTracker and it is working WELL! I need a suggestion of a sample editor and library combo for Android to support my device, do you have any suggestions?
@@reidfamilydroid sorry for the very late reply, for some reason I didnt get notifications for your comments. Very glad to hear you got LGPT working on your Q90!
