I’ve been drawing for 8 years now and I can say that if I could go back to the first time I picked up a random lined note book at 11 and began drawing I would tell myself to work on the fundamentals just like you are it helps improve your art infinitely and I only really started focusing on learning the basics of art recently. your doing great!!

This is what my sketch book looked like when I picked up drawing again a few years into college after not drawing since High school. I got demotivated seeing all these, what you called, Picasso level sketchbooks on TH-cam, thinking I wasn't improving fast enough, or it's too late for me. I wish I kept going because I feel like I'm back at square one again lol Great video, time to start drawing again.

I think you definitely need to see it). Search for "character design reference", then select "artworks", than "art of animation". Find your favorite series and animations;)

A tip for drawing i did to get good at it, was tracing drawings when i was a kid and like 2 months in i stopped tracing brah and i iust started looking at drawings fr and drawing what i seen,after some time i started going on a random page just filling it up with shapes and random doodles,i also starting randomly shading alot feeling up pages and i was hella bored as a kid fr(12 yrs old) so i did that alot,people wouldn't believe me until i showed them but im 15 now and bro, THE LEVEL IM AT?, it really look like i beej drawing for like 10 years or something like damn im good, i can look at any drawing even anime level stuff and draw it perfect onto my paper i can even make 10/10 drawings from my head randomly . Conclusion: If you really wanna get better at drawing fr just drawing shapes and doodles and shade for HOURRRRSSSS.(7 at most any more then that your trying to hard fr) And make sure to feel up pages with it, do it like you love it even when its annoying or its to long thats the key to success its discipline, keep going until you get better for whoever reading this my fellow kings and queens i believe in yall fr.

this is nonsense, like i am a comic artist and what you do is draw draw and draw till you get better than your peak in years you just change skin more than once. Theres no thing like 30 days 100 days 1000 days practise and you become something its diffirent fr everyone selfs, i am just saying don't get imitate this ...

Trying to get back into school and worrying about getting my portfolio up to date made my adobe and other task feel like an absolute chore. This week I stopped all of that and just started to draw focus on the basics and just have some fun and it has been an absolute blast.

These animations are great! The jank has a charm to it :) Love how you edit the video as a whole too! Also, Alan Becker has a good 12 principles of animation video (if you haven't seen it already) that gives a good overview, might give you some good ideas :)

Although this is 7 months old and you might of understood this by now but do you think you can't draw your own character but are really good at following the reference is because when you follow the reference you aren't trying to learn but just copy

This is a very cute sketchbook tour. Congrats on making OCs and keep practicing drawing from imagination. The more I talk to my friends and other artsy people working from pure imagination is incredibly difficult. Never lose the passion to create!
