Some more video footage from the Dennis Wilson archives,filming was done by Dennis's brother Burt, logging out of Campbell River area, Elk Bay and Port Neville .
No one even thought about ear or eye protection back then..boots were handmade...the operators and timberfallers were the best...
Not much good without sound.
How can we RESPECT COMPANIES AND PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE TO STEAL OUR TIME AND MONEY. SHUT OTHERS DOWN AND MOVE OUR FAMILIES JUST TO MAKE MORE DEBTS.

IN 1965, THE WEST WAS STILL PRIMITIVE. IN 1980, I WORKED A RANCH 40 MILES FROM UKIAH CALIF, AND THERE WAS VIRGIN TIMBER UNDER MT. SANHIEDREN. NOW GONE. AMERICAS DAYS ARE NUMBERED. WE HAVE SOCIALIST IN POWER.
That area is being harvested again today
I see tin hard hats. This has to pretty old. Good old WCB haven't allowed these for a long time. But they are ok South of the border.

Lovely collection of job shots in these videos. From road building, logging, trucking and booming it seems most of the jobs were captured in this Norie Brothers series. Was it the same camera man shooting all of them?
Yes his name is Dennis Wilson . He worked for Norie's in management I believe.
2016 - Henry Norie Long gone by now. Having worked on their ski hill in the early years, 79-88, I've enjoyed a very similar view out from the mountains. Where were these guys logging? Around back of Campbell River and north? I see that ERT yarder there so perhaps that put them south of the Campbell. I thought I saw some pictures shot towards Seymour Narrows above Yellow Point perhaps? Thanks for putting the pictures together and uploading into a TH-cam Video for us to all enjoy. The history of the Island is slowly fading as all the old times die out.
That looks like Elk Bay, They also had camps at various times in Port Neville, Phillips Arm and Green Sea Bay. If I recall correctly that is Wayne Chatterton on the 090 Sthil . at 8:06 this is an early attempt at grapple yarding with a homemade grapple on a tower at Elk Bay, you can tell how long ago it was by all the by passed sapling and snags in the setting.
@@timbertramp1105 Yes looks like Elk Bay. the old man Bert Henkel worked on the boom for them in the 50's n 60's

Thanks for the movie Timbertramp, I grew up logging the Island, camp brat as a school kid until family moved to Richmond in 58 so My Brother and I could get a High School education. I spent summer breaks back in camps setting chokers and chasing/second loading. Got My education and used it to fulfill My goal of pulling leavers on Heel Boom Line Loaders. I lasted until 1977 and the industry changed, I moved on and built a career to retirement in the construction industry both residential and commercial. This movie is how I remember Logging, Steel Towers Butt Rigging, Heel Booms, full brim Tin Hats and Boots on the ground.
