Soil liquefaction due to earthquake. UTHM GEOFEST'14
มุมมอง 269K9 ปีที่แล้ว
Liquefaction is a phenomenon where saturated sand and silt take on the characteristics of a liquid during the intense shaking of an earthquake. It take place when a quake has increased water pressure in saturated soil and made particles in the soil lose contact with each other, making the soil particularly sand soil - act like liquid. The effect has been likened to slapping a wet , hard beach a...
Terbaik brader!
Dear Adib Azahari, can we use your video (acknowledging your name and video link) in our interdisciplinary project exhibition which has earthquake and Risk Themes? It is a non-profit activity.
sure Emine Oner. our pleasure also to know if this can give small contribution in your project exhibition. good luck then
Thankyou ❤
I watched japan earthquake video and people there in comment section talking about liquefaction and I've no idea about it so I come here. Thanks for the video.
This is the best illustration i have ever seen. Thank you so so much. This is the best i repeat.
Sensei, I was there in 2001 in shinjuku, there was earthquake but the earth did not liquefied yet.
Sort of a misnomer. The soil does not liquefy but rather water simply moves. At least that is how I look at it. If no water below soil then no liquefaction could happen so rather water displaces into soil. Would be more accurate to say "Water solidification."
dear sir, can I use the link of your video to demonstrate the Soil Liquefaction. I will acknowledge your name and video link in my personal training video. thanks.
yes my pleasure sir
@@theYenTaro Many thanks for kind gesture ....
Simple experiment. Can be done in the classroom at school.
Thank you many awesome :)
Indian man on yt does it again folks. Played this vid in Earth Science, thanks!
Why I won’t live in Big Sky MT
Worst magic trick ever.
So God shakes earth for an earthquake
Thankyou
Amazing
whos from school?
Perfect demo sir..Hats off
Appreciate for your video explanation.
why is he doing that stupid gesture with his hand?
Anyone here from GRMS
Cool
my teacher reccomends this
How come you couldn't just dump all the soil in the at once- why did you have to put in a little at a time?
1000' th like
This is the type of Cyclic Liquefaction, not Flow Liquefaction! Right?
It was a paid actor I just know it
What Did you use for your "soil" layers? I'd love to reproduce this demo in my classroom. (I tried it with sand and with store bought top soil but it didn't work so well).
cohesionless soil should be used.. like sand or sandy soil
Cool video!!! Very comprehensive and easy to understand!
Looks like quicksand
Soil lequefaction happened on my graham cake after I put too much cream and milk at the bottom
Soil liquefaction is quicksand's older brother
So its quicksand basically
Very good way of explaining...Ty so much
Great video
Oh begitu..
i want to know what is superstructure. does anyone know?
example: big building
liquification footage in palu, so scary th-cam.com/video/tW1iUAAMZZU/w-d-xo.html
that is absolutely cool yet terrifying
simple physics, yet its very dissastrous on island scale
so meaning no super structure or well designed structure/building can escape from this kind of phenomenon sir?.. is there such study or whatsoever test to be able to know area or soil is liquefaction prone sir?.. Thanks a lot for your response!..
patty me there is a lot of info! I am from Los Angeles and we have this information for our city: geohub.lacity.org/datasets/8b5ae7c5bc794e1bb97fc213ab1c6268_5
Thanks

Pray for Palu Donggala and Sigi
legit question, how to encounter it?
Mungkin seperti ini yg terjadi di palu ya..
But what made the buildings move in palu?
Earthquake
liquefaction in palu
Palu earthquake brought me here. Its scary.. So it is very important to do soil assesment before building something
So far, only tall building constructions that conduct further soil assessment, I don't know about housing projects, wether or not they conduct soil assessments
So damn amazing! Finally I understood how it works, thanks for making this video
