Follow along as we try to grow a 2,000 pound Giant Pumpkin! We will document the process, giving tips/tricks and answering questions along the way. So far our biggest pumpkin was 1,970.5 pounds!
We will also bring you along on our journey as we take on other fun adventures on our 11 acre homestead! We are in the process of getting things setup to bring horses on our property. There are always plenty of projects that need to get done.
We also enjoy metal detecting around old farmsteads. If we find anything cool, we will definitely share!

How To Select a New Garden Site! {Top Tips!}
If you are wondering what to look for when selecting a new garden site, then watch this video! I go over what I look for when picking out a new location. I am picking out a location for my Giant Pumpkins, but this can be used when picking out a normal garden as well. On top of tips for site selection, I also go over my plans for turning the location into a new garden (pumpkin patch).

Ep. 26 - Giant Pumpkin Update {Massive Root System!!}
มุมมอง 4512 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I give an update on where I took my giant pumpkin named Tiny Diamond. I show how we harvested her from the patch and loaded her in the back of the truck. I go over a little patch clean up and dig up the main vines for both the 2501 Bernstrom and 1005 Clementz plants. The difference in root systems is huge, which helps explain why the 2501 Bernstrom plant was much bigger and produ...

Ep. 1 - Preparing a New Giant Pumpkin Patch
Made one for my wife last summer, she loves it calls it potting, gardening table. I like mud kitchen better👍❤️
I’ve thought of using it for starting my giant pumpkin seeds. Sounds similar to what your wife must use it for.
Looks a lot like my garage workbenchs. I just put countertops on mine and pegboard above and around the sides.
I actually thought about using it for giant pumpkin seed starting in the spring. Only issue is my garage isn’t heated and I don’t want to start seeds in the cold.
Nice
❤❤❤
Did you just hit 500? If you did 🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is adorable! ❤🎄✝️
I actually dressed like that just to drop off the sled for my daughter at school for her sledding party on the last day before break.
I saw your TH-cam channel. Your videos are very nice. But due to some problem in your channel, your video view and channel subscribers are not getting. May I explain in more detail if you allow?
That music is ass my guy
Good thing it is only 11 seconds long. Open to suggestions.
@gaz4553 idea cope with it and move on hater
“Aah I broke the goddamn wheel” - an afraid man
where did you find it ?
In the middle of a field. Without looking at 125+ year old plat maps, I would have never thought to look there. It has looked like any other field since I was born and I am sure long before that.
In the dirt
@@theturnerranchwi cool that's so exciting! is this in canada ? or which country? 😊
@@Ancient.Egyptian.Prototyping United States
@ I admire your country ! all the way from New Zealand ✌️
We used one the metal ring we hung are mail box from it
That’s so cool.
I agree. I couldn’t believe the whole thing was there and it wasn’t damaged.
They lie around everywhere..
Was this on your farm? Looks like a decoration for the barn!❤
In one of my parents farm fields. On the 1905 plat map, it looks like that farmstead no longer existed, but a new farmstead was started on the opposite side of the 80 acre lot. That new farmstead is where my dad and uncle still farm today. Not sure why that other one was abandoned by 1905.
Fire not hot enough
WOODCHIPPER!!!!
My favorite is when the dog brings you half a rotten deer or raccoon and they want a congratulations! 😂
Luckily my dog doesn’t do that. She just runs around the house trying to herd us inside.
lol I was literally thinking “Nice, free calcium and phosphorus”
If I grow a world record in this patch, everybody will be throwing bones into their patch.
At least they aren't human
Agreed
Well done on your 2024 season! I look forward to videos for the 2025 season.
Thanks! Hopefully things are bigger and better in 2025!
You should try growing rice in the new patch. Is giant rice a thing?
My folks have been running a greenhouse for over thirty years. I've planted and up potted thousands of plants. They will come out of the pot so much easier if they are a little dry. Just tip the pot over and support the plant/soil with your other hand. It will fall right out with a little massage of the pot. Then just water it in really well after planting.
Thanks for the tip. I saw somebody say to get the soil wet, but I have issues with it crumbling when I try to up pot or plant outside.
I just found your channel. I'll binge all your videos over the next couple days. So far, you are sharing some good info. Thank you.
Awesome! I think I got better on camera as the season went on. Hopefully that is the case. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Squidward
That’s HUGE!
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson being in touch with ugly fans - Huge. Even Trump is better. Having no pumpkins i can call my own and i see him with his daughter broke my heart. Am i AI to you???
I'm using you comment section cause mine is gone.
Made with chemicals?
Just lots of love and a few gallons of milk
@ wow that’s cool any spasific type of milk I’d like to try
Love that deep brown colour, here in Alberta they get a grey brown colour in late season.
This one is probably on the darker side. Once we get snow on the ground, he would really stand out. Maybe he will show up for our opener tomorrow.

Why
You better throw down some Urea speed up the break down. I don't do that in Michigan. There's not enough time for the leaves to break down by spring according to Western Labs you need to spread the leaves in August for them to have time to break down by spring. I know a lot of people do it, but I don't want to have a bunch of in my Soil that doesn't block out your Nutrients if you have too much.
I appreciate the feedback! I am constantly learning new things. I just figure the leaves will at least help improve the soil structure and reduce compaction. That is my hope at least. I am really hoping to find time this winter to learn more about soil in depth. However, with the ages of my kids and other house/barn projects, my time is limited. I coach basketball as well and we just started our season yesterday.
@ just a heads up I wouldn't go too crazy had too much but had some nitrogen to help with the breakdown with a mild winter. You probably will be fine. A hard cold winter was slow, slow down the process.
Sir where is pumpkin seed
That looks like it was fun to do!
It was fun except all of the leaves that made it into my sweatshirt.
How do you control weeds in the patch? Can it be done without herbicides?
I pull all weeds by hand. I like to let the weeds grow so there are always roots in the ground. I pull the weeds about a foot ahead of each vine as the vines grow. If you watch some of my full length videos from this season, you should see what I am trying to explain. Let me know of you have more questions.
The Deer Hunters Prayer “Dear lord, to you I pray, As I set off into the woods this day, Bless my life and help me to be successful, Look over me and always be blissful. Heavenly Father, Grant me the wisdom to overcome all obstacles, And protect me from those things which I have no control of, May harvesting a deer be quick and true, With respect for the animal, with guidance by you, Keep close lord as I hunt today, And look over me to keep me safe, There is no greater god than you, This hunting season is the proof.” - AMEN - -written by Unknown
Thanks for sharing!
Boscobel?
Nope, but correct state. 😂
Looks like a great place for deer. Plenty of cover and food. Is there a water source nearby?
There are smaller ponds in the area, but none on this land. When it rains heavy, the creeks going through the land fill up, but don’t hold water long.
What’s the biggest buck you ever got
Nothing that measured very big. I think around 130” for whitetail. Biggest whitetail was a heavy 13 point, but it had shorter tines. I think my biggest muley was 26” wide and probably scored in the 140s.
Nice
Beautiful
Try growing food instead of vanity
I grow food as well.
I thought it was a free country free world just saying can't we all just do what we want to do
You are very lucky having a great piece of land like that. Also sick stache.
My wife and I were both lucky to grow up on farms. We bought 11 acres from my family 6 years ago and built out here. Definitely a lot of work to keep up with an acreage when we both work full time jobs, but worth it to us. I will have to let my wife know about the compliment about my stache. She is not a fan. 😂
Nice!
@@GiantpumpkinswithericThanks for watching!
I have one the size of my hand, it is the second leaf that growled
I know I'm late but I'm a 60nyear old female and I want to try and grow a big pumpkin spring 2025 any chance to get a seed
Any chance you are able to send me a DM on Instagram (theturnerranch)? It would be easier to go back and forth and let you know what I have for seeds.
How can someone get seeds from your pumpkins?
Any chance you are able to reach out to me via a DM on Instagram (theturnerranch)?
Good video
Thanks! I just need to grow all of my pumpkins with a massive root system.
@@theturnerranchwi lol
Nice job! Looking forward to what you can get out of your patch next year.
Thanks! I have a lot of thoughts for next year. Just need to figure out what makes the most sense. I try not to change too many things each year.
What did this one weigh? Great season!
I am really slacking on getting a video filmed and put together about this pumpkin. It weighed 881 pounds and took 19th place. It was used as a boat in the Pumpkin Regatta.
@@theturnerranchwi excellent! How many square feet was this plant? Nice season for you. I have been busy expanding the patch. I should have about 800 square feet for a plant next season!
@Giantpumpkinswitheric The plant was only 200-250 square feet. I am moving my patch for next year, but haven’t found time for that yet. Once pumpkin season wrapped up, horse fencing kicked in. I am putting in about 40 wood posts by hand. Trying to get those in before everything freezes. However, I am not finding a lot of time for that either.
In spite of the challenges in growing giants, you inspire me😊 I was today's age when I learned there's a tool for that.
If only I had a post puller when I needed this post out of the ground.
I don't think that was a slam more like a low bump 😅
Definitely not the hardest I have had. The pedal has been sticking off and on for years so I know it is coming. Just adds some excitement to the process. 🤣
@@theturnerranchwi be careful
The name “Tiny diamond” is wild.
Thank you for the Update! Glad the digging critters didn’t do any damage. I look forward to seeing where you move your pumpkin patch for next year…. Out of the swamp for sure. 🎃🧡🎃🧡
I am planning to film something showing where my new patch will be, along with an explanation on what went into the decision.
Good luck
Great job. where did you get your lifting straps?
I bought the lifting ring (with straps) from Cindy Tobeck, but not sure she makes them anymore.
