Drag them in……Drive them out!
I’m just a regular Joe like you, working away in my little one car garage trying to make old junk better. Basically saving all the old iron in the world one truck at a time!!
No special tools, zero budget, I’ll drag these things home from out of the trees and do my best to make it a good running, driving, stopping, no longer a rust bucket easy project for someone to finish……. Then sell it to one lucky person at cost.
I usually drop them here on the page before going to market, typically they go to a subscriber, may as well be you!

How I Installed Dakota Digital Guages in a 67-72 C10 - Super Detailed!
I grabbed some Dakota Digital gauges for my 67 C10, these gauges solved the speedometer issue for me while also giving me a tach, clock and new accurate volt, temp, oil and fuel gauges.
I documented the whole thing in detail in case you’re looking to do it too. Simple to do, maybe a little intimidating the first time but this isn’t my first kick at this cat.
I had to rearrange a few things like lose the choke, move the light switch as well as the wiper switch, worth a peek anyway if you’re thinking about it.
Took no time at all and only made one wire mistake, join me and I’ll show you so you don’t make any ok?

Bought a MarketPlace "Rebuilt" Big Block for my 1967 Chevy. What could possibly go wrong? Let’s Go!

Rolled the dice and bought “rebuilt” by previous owner shortblock. Risky for sure, let’s see how this plays out along with all the bumps in the road along the way. 396 bored out to 402 cubic inches. It’s it a “Craigslist Rebuild” or the deal of a lifetime? Maybe somewhere in between? Had some challenges squeezing this thing in, come along for the ride and find out what fits. What doesn’t. What ...

How to install a GM van column in a c10 or GMC 60-72. We’ve all heard that it can be done, but what do you need to do in order to pull it off? The 60-68 columns definitely require more parts, the 69-72 columns require you to reuse some of the original stuff. Let me walk you through it
Nice video. I have a 55 GMC 150 3/4 ton small window, came with a property I purchased. Barn find. Im not keeping it. Got to find it a home
Where about are you located?
@@shortcutgarage I'm in Camp Verde AZ
@@josecurbelo2476 oh wow. Probably pretty clean too then. I’m up in northern Canada. Bit of a drive for me, someone will snatch it up. These things are hot right now. Good luck with the sale!
Yes sir, it's 98.5 % rust free. Looks pretty cool in the barn/garage area. It would be ashame to wash it😅
Would loved to watch more but 4 minutes of the dog barking non stop in the background was all I could stand.
Yeah, not my dog. That’s too bad it bothered you to that extent. There are other videos out there though. Hope you find what you’re after.
I hate where they put the fuel gauge. Its completely blocked by the coloum shifter. I wish someone at dakota digital would just copy a factory cluster. No need for a clock that looses 5 minutes a month. Besides that they work well.
I’ll have to check out the position of the shifter compared to the fuel gauge, you may be on to something. I’ll also pay close attention to my clock. Thanks for sharing
Looks Super Ron, a couple of changes and great choice with the tan dash pad. Now I'm really thinking but not 100% sure if I like the little square LED boxes with the odometer readout etc. Where did u mount the control box ?
That box went just behind the cluster itself
YES!!, Loving this build!! Good call on the leather brown color with the yellow, love the gauges as well. Take us along for a rip in that truck next time. I hope your keeping this build, it's one sexy truck!
This one will be sticking around for awhile for sure. Full interior video coming right up!!
@@shortcutgarage Nice, can't wait!!
i thought these things were great until i seen the price.!!! isnt it something like 1700 usd?
Something like that yep
Another premium video. Looks awesome. 👍🏿
Very nice. I really like how these look like factory gauges, but work like new ones. Thanks for posting.
Yeah they’re great, super happy with them. Speedometer is adjustable for different rear end ratios, tire size etc. fuel gauge adjusts to anything you can throw at it, newer sending unit, older, Chevy ford dodge, it’s been great!!
I love how readily available these options are for a factory look.
They do have a great product and user friendly for the intellectually challenged like myself lol
Looks great!!
Thanks!! Love the new look!!
i have a 72 f100 that wont go into 2nd or 3rd ill try this tmr for sure ill be back to tell you if it worked
Good luck!! You got this!
You're video have helped me so much brotha
I’m glad it helped!!
Very sexy!!!

is it dimmable to bare minimum for long night drives? it makes so much difference for exterior nightvision if your cab is as darkas possible. NO DEER will ever sneak up on you if your eyes are not distracted by interior dash stereo lights
Yep. When you pull the headlight switch it dims to Night mode. This was in a darkened garage, day mode. So it was brighter
i almost bought a bright yellow 67ish chevy c10 a few yrs ago in edmonton but somebody scooped it up while i hemmed and hawed a few hrs
or maybe it was lloyd?
@@WilliamMunny-d8s this one comes out of Regina. Saskatchewan has the best deals
im just a shadetree mechanic, not mechanical mathemagiciianal, so what does the ,72 or .86 overdrive ratio of the T5 reduce a 4.56 rear gear ratio to about? is it just straight multiplication 0.86 x 4.56 =3.92 equivalent rear gear? or if its .72 OD then .72x4.56=3.28 new efective reear gear? or is the math more complicated than that?
Instead of your final drive being 1:1 which is the norm for 3 or 4 speeds it would move you to say .72. So instead of rolling at say 60 mph, 3500 rpm, you could do the math at .72 x 3500 and you’ll see you now roll down the highway at 2520 going the same speed.
hey guys, i seen alberta plates, Im in SASKATOON, contemplating buying a running driving C20, 1968 camper special BIGGEST PROBLEM is it has 4.56 reargears and will barely do a 100km/h cuz its screaming at about 4000rpm SO far amigos the biggest wrecker nearby has nothing that will bolt in Got any ideas what will fit and where i can get one with 3.08-3.73 ish gears?
current owner said lowest ring n pinion that will fit in there is 4.11 which is still pretty dams steep he also says the current manual tranny has such slow 1st gear its unuseable unless loaded down so 3.08 rear would make that gear useful and turn way less rpm on highway
@@WilliamMunny-d8s I would try Scott’s Supertrucks in Penhold. Another option of course is swapping out that 4 speed (actually a 3 speed with a granny low) with a T5 5 speed, the overdrive makes all the difference. I have a couple videos on making an S10 T5 work in these trucks. But for the rear end, give Scott a call.
@@shortcutgarage Thanks dude, that was my the next question rattling around in my head , which tranny bolts right in with overdrive or better streetable ratios? i will check that out. So any T5 5speed can fit? i assume a new length driveshaft will be needed?
@@WilliamMunny-d8s 2WD Blazer Jimmy trans, the earlier ones still use a Speedo cable, Camaro, Firebird ones work as well but you either have to swap out the tailshaft housing which I’ve done or use buckets as it locates the shifter further back, into the bench seat
One of ur best video 👍🏾.
Are you selling the old 396?

It looks great sounds great great job very funny video (p.s team CJ)😀

Piffff sounds great
Thanks!! Love this thing!!
Love that you did the entire engine build and install/run in one video and didn't milk it into a 10 part series like some other TH-camrs! Love the channel, keep doing what you are doing, you'll build followers quickly!
Thanks for the support! It’s truly appreciated!!
Hello there. First always always always go through the engine that you get from Kijiji or marketplace. Never ever trust the seller unless you personally know them even then be vigilant. A lot of guys are sayin one thing and it usually turns to be a giant pile. Make sure tolerances and fasteners are torqued to properly spec. Check the rings are clocked and especially tolerances are good by using plastic gauge. Last thing you want is your rotating assembly coming apart especially when you have so much time and money involved. I’m in Ontario near Toronto. I’ve been building fox body’s since 83-84 before ford had a performance parts like the Chevy boys had back then. lol!
Cant wait for a burnout video!!! Lets Gooooo
Good call, I actually know better but get impatient sometimes. Like this time lol
That truck is sick! Awesome video!

Yep. And the driveshaft for the application
Wow great work!

Well.... isnt that a kick in the coconuts 😮
My poor poor coconuts
Great video
Thanks!
For brakes I always go with as many new parts as possible just to be safe, I can always survive an engine that doesn't run, but its more of a challenge to survive a running car with no brakes 😅
For sure, not many people running used brake parts these days I hope lol
Can’t wait to see it running!
She’s a gooder!!
Why does a guy need tall valve covers in the first place?
Roller rockers don’t fit with regular or short, I had some short aluminum ones in there. They contacted the roller rockers. Lame.
Neat!!!
name that tool ..... FYI My local NAPA says that they dont sell just a rotor, rotor AND hub as a package only. UGH
I got those from Rockauto because I had the same issue
@@shortcutgarage is that socket just called a "hub socket" ?
@mattwayne7649 spindle nut socket I think
I'm getting stuck in second gear and having to go under and pop it out, should I shorten or lengthen the linkage or is it just trial an error?
You need to align them to the pin and it’ll shift like new. Take your time, it’ll work I promise. Get a light under there and adjust them to the alignment pun
@@shortcutgarage is there somewhere I could find the manual for that shifter mine looks very similar
@gmk2400 I have a new one on the shelf here. Message me on instagram or Facebook and I’ll send you a pic of the manual
Great video!
I'm using this and your 3 on the tree video to adapt a floor shifter for a Dodge Duster that came originally with a column shifter. It has been very informative. I've got just a question, what stops multiple gears from activating at once? Is it even possible that two gears are on at once? Thanks for the videos!
Can’t do two at once, all you’ll do is jam up, usually in neutral. Take your time and dial it in like a brand new transmission, it’s not hard but it’s sooooo worthwhile! Good Luck with your project!
Looks amazing!
