MOVING TO SWEDEN // VLOG // TEACHING OVERSEAS
มุมมอง 8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hello! I am so excited to be sharing my first ever TH-cam video! I have recently relocated my life to Stockholm, Sweden and this is my journey of how I got to this amazing country❤️ I hope you all enjoy :)
Many people in sweden love asians and asian countries, so having an asian teacher would be a match made in heaven for them. They also love south-east asians and during summer months, you can often find them enjoying delicious dishes from countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The unique flavors and spices of south-east asian cuisine are a big hit with these foodies, and they are always on the lookout for new restaurants and pop-up events featuring these tasty dishes. Whether it's a spicy bowl of pho or a refreshing coconut curry, south-east asian cuisine always has a special place in their hearts.
Where did you apply? I’m curious
Hej Lucy! I will be moving to Sweden, hopefully too soon🎉 I'm still waiting my residence permit. I got married my Swede man just this year❤ Im Filipina from Philippines❤🎉
*Such an amazing video to watch.. I am an English teacher almost 10 years .. Is there a way to contact with you ... or any website that helps me to apply and get job there as well. Warm Regards🌹.
Hi Lucy, I am from India and I have similar dreams. I want to teach science in sweden . Can you tell me a little about what aew the eligibility criteria? I have a post grad in science.
Hey how has the experience been? Also does the Job pay for Housing or are you responsible for that? I taught in Beijing China for 4 years and they cover flights, housing, and Visa expense.
Thanks for this video. Btw, what was the name of program you applied for to get this teaching job?
Hey Lucy thanks for the video! I am also a science teacher I have a degree in education, I am qualified to teach math and science grades 4-6. I was wondering if I will need to be able to speak Swedish to get a teaching job and how difficult is it to find a job?
Not going up to the bus driver is more a covid thing than a Swedish thing. You normally swipe your card in the front of the bus by the driver.
Great video💛 I hope to be following in your footsteps teaching abroad ✨✨Excited to see more videos 💓
Lovely video! Will you film more about spring and summer, now that winter is over?
Hi Lucy! I'm an Asian American in NYC looking to relocate to Stockholm as well and love your content! How has it been being a minority ethnically but also not being fluent in Swedish yet? Is making friends hard?
Hi! Aww thank you! I have not experienced any racial incidents since moving here. People in Stockholm speak English very well and I am able to buy things and ask for directions in English. However this can make it somewhat hard with making friends who are Swedish. They feel more comfortable speaking in their own language with friends and family. International people are always relocating to Sweden and make really great friends though :) hope this helps!
Hi, what did you need to do to be able to teach over there?
Hi Lucy! I'm an American in NYC, researching life in Stockholm and love your channel! :) My main concern is making friends... What is your experience or what have you heard?
Yesss!
Can you tell about how you found the job in Sweden, while living in the US?
Hi..when are you making a video about teaching there? I am thinking of making the move but have heard mixed feedback about international schools like IES.
Sweden really do needs teacher so moving here you should take that under considerations. And perhapse learn swedish so you can teache in an swedish school
Have you driven a snowmobile yet. Best part of the winter! More popular and common up north tho. But you have to try it, its super fun.
She has a pleasant voice.. in Sweden, do they worship Deity's like they do Norway? just Curious.. Thanks!

Very nice country 👌 👍
Its law to have winter tires. 👍🏻
Nice to see you braving the cold, but you better enjoy the snow while it lasts. A few warmer days and it will all turn into slush, and if it then freezes back over - crust and black ice galore! Only skidding, no skiing.
I'd love to hear more about your job and what teaching is like there!
Welcome! I hope you enjoy it here. If you are not used to it I'm sure there will be things in the culture etc that takes some getting used to. But most Swedes are very tolerant to newcomers and how hard it is for them to grasp subtle things, especially if you make it known. Also, I would encourage you to travel outside Stockholm to "smaller" cities to get a more diverse and genuine view of Sweden. Stockholm, with every company "having to be there" and thus competing for every employee, who competes for every house has made Stockholm not very indicative of Sweden as a whole. If you, after Covid-19 is no longer a thing, want to travel to the south of Sweden my family and I would be happy to invite you to Blekinge, the garden of Sweden. Also, speaking English, it usually becomes apparent how well you can get along using it. Even young kids are able to communicate using it. Very likely due to us starting learning it as a mandatory language at fourth grade (if things haven't changed since I was a a kid... hehe).
Where in the south did you go? I'm from the southeast. Not the best season now but if you have the chance try to come to Kalmar and the island of Öland in summer :)
You are right about social distance in Sweden. We want our personal space, the picture on the bus stop is correct.
Welcome to Sweden, always fun to see the reaction about our country. I will keep an eye on you. Good teachers are always welcome.
So I have been looking to move to Sweden for a while. Did you get a visa? Im just lost on how to get my feet down in Sweden to start an education or work
So you would need to start with a work visa or a student (studying) visa! It depends on the route you want to take :)
@@lucylivinglimitless8696 thank you!!!
Beautiful home dear Lucy 🙂♥️
What website did you used to apply for a job? Or where did you find jobs in Sweden?
We have a lot of international schools especially near Stockholm! If you look up international English schools you should be able to see more options and find a “district” that suits you best :)
Hi Lucy! Thank you for this video. Where did you apply for teaching jobs? Is there a particular website you used?

What programs are in Sweden?
What do you mean by this?
@@lucylivinglimitless8696 what are the teaching programs in Sweden?
Been living in Sweden for a year and I'm from Indonesia. I agree with your points! Hope you're having a good time in Stockholm!
Hope everything is going well with the travel plans! Sweden and Stockholm is locking up even more now - I guess we'll see how everything is after the Christmas week and New Years :/
you're so authentic and real! love your energy! so positive. Where I live there are snow and forest as far as the eye can see, it's beautiful but cold. so it's nice seeing a video that has warm energy! thank you for the soothing moment! Wishing you a blessed Holiday Season 🥰️ Come by and say hello one of these days, I'd love to show you our latest ️

Lycka till på din resa!
Tack så mycket :)
Fingers crossed you get to travel home without any problems. Happy holidays!
Thank you so much! Happy holidays😊
So how are you doing? Winter is coming.... Is the place going to be warm enough?
Wellcome to sweden dear
Do you have Insta?
Hopefully this corona shit is over by the time it get's dark so we're allowed to leave for a few weeks haha. Normally people in Sweden travel to Greece/Spain/Croatia/Thailand during the winter for 1-3 weeks to remember what daylight looks like 😂
What kind of teaching are u providing ???
What made you move to sweden? Work?
If you want to take a look at my first video I explain my reasons for moving :)
Those little shoes in the window look exactly like my baby shoes from mid 60's Sweden. I still have them :)
Out of curiosity, which part of Stockholm do you stay in? Inner city, or suburb?
Right in the outskirts! About 30 minutes from the city!
I'd have the toaster oven in the sauna but I do like food
That's a very nice tiny house!
Six hours earlier? ;)
Well the public transportation system only work in that way in the major cities. In most areas the system are syncronized with the schools. Where i live (not very far from Stockholm) you must have one or two cars if you live in the countryside. The people living in Stockholm (who mostly (99%) move there resently) have a totally different way of life than the rest of us living outside the area.😉🙂
