Things Did NOT Go To Plan!! Lime Rock 2024 Autocross Invitational Shootout
We ended our racing season at the 2024 Lime Rock Autocross Invitational Shootout, which is an invitation only event for the top 30 fastest cars. It's pretty much a "run what you brung" event so we didn't have any expectations, but that still didn't stop things from going sideways!

It’s seems to me that there are more father/son Oldsmobiles families than any other brand. My love for Olds came from my dad. I lost him in 2020, but I have his F85 he purchased the year I was born. Spend as much time with the old man as you can….
Im sorry for your loss. It’s great to have the car to carry on his memory! I completely agree
Love the Oldsmobeast, love watching the updates and the random stuff. thanks for doing what you do. Peace!
Thank you for the support!
That is bad ass
Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous 442...leave the music out so we can hear that beauty
Back in Mid 1964 my Dad went to the local Olds Dealer in Monroe Michigan to buy his first car. He talked to the family salesman and service manager and they steered him to a Special Cutlass they just got in. A yellow convertible with a special engine. A factory installed 394 with 4 spd trans and exhaust dumps for racing. $2800 and the agreement to bring the car in once a month. On one occasion some suits from Oldsmobile asked him some questions about who he raced and beat. 383 mopars and 390 fords. In a few months he was drafted and the Dealer bought the car back for $2800. Wish he could have kept her.
Very cool story!
Is this Oldsmobile a W30? I recognize those inner fender wells. Or did you buy and install them?
Sounds good.. what cam?
Thanks! That cam is a crane 800661
Big fat meats up front,,talking my language,,, All same size tires squared up makes it balanced in the corners really well
Way cool
Thank you!
Oldsmobile, Pontiac, or Buick. Love the sound of them.
Another great video, you handle the Beast well. I live in RI and I hope to see your car in person next season. I have a Viking blue 72 Supreme that I’m doing a mild pro touring build on.
Thank you! And awesome. If I can be of any help with your build, don’t hesitate to reach out to the business!
Hundreds of hours of work, thousands of dollars spent, and it's the small thing that gets you. You're doing great.
It’s always the small things that get you! And thank you, I appreciate it!
holy hell that's a fast car. nice driving!
Haha thank you!
Pat, you are doing a great job! Keep up the great work. I would be thrilled to play even a small part in preparing you for next season.
Appreciate it dude, wouldn’t be where I am without your help! I’ll be in touch soon.
Found your channel a month or so ago. Motorsports is a process and there are set backs and success. Flipping through the videos the car has come a long way. Another thing to think about, I have read and been around pro-touring events for ~30 years. A DCT, and ABS not long ago was only for people who had access to manufacturer technology. I remember GM tall spindles or tall ball joints, and Corvette 13" 2 piston brakes being high tech.
I completely agree. It’s very cool to see how the pro touring movement has grown and changed over the last couple of decades. The bleed down of technology is now allowing for really cool combinations that were previously unthinkable!
If only you knew someone that could redesign that brake extension and angle 🤣. You'll get it brother, keep pushing.
😂😂 its funny because I already have a replace extension designed, but due to time constraints opted to just toss in another original one to finish off the season. Guess that was the wrong choice! And I Appreciate it, we’re pushing on for 2025 now!
@@TheOldsmobeast Looking forward to it
I know stabilization makes the video smoother but it does take away the immersion from the slick driving! but just a guys a opinion you do you! nice job
Thank you! And agreed, im probably going to shut off stabilization for the onboard footage moving forward
Keep up the great work with the beast ❤️😎👍
Thank you, I will!
A lot of people today go buy a Charger or Challenger & think they can wheel it like this but they certainly don't have the skill........you can certainly "wheel" a car 💪Many years ago, I believe SLP if I remember right, had an ad that said "Goat eats Porsche" as they were one of the early suspension tune companies. This is a great video for someone that has an old 66 Malibu here they'd like to make handle like this 👍
Very nice ride! Quick question. How many wheel speed sensors required to operate the Getrag. Looking for a similar swap on an old chevy truck. A 90's rear axle could get me one sensor.
That olds looks so cool sliding around the corners. And it sounds good too.
Appreciate it!
Great event! Stoked to see the Civic featured in the recap vid!
Thanks for coming out! Always fun to see the civic ripping around
What a sick video! Awesome event
Thank you! and agreed, Cashed Media did an awesome job with this.
What year olds?
1970!
Damn this car is cool
Appreciate it!
Nice to see A-body Olds go around course
Thanks for watching, I appreciate the support!
Wow great camera work it’s like being in a video game. Love the Beast. Is there any more at Limerock this year?
Thank you! Cashed Media did an awesome job with their coverage. We’ll be at like rock this Saturday (10/19) for the Autocross invitational shootout, which will be our last time at lime rock for the year!
mesmerizing to watch a big body car just carve those corners
Appreciate it! Been alot of development work to get it to this point, but im very proud of what we’ve been able to put together!
I owned 2 70 W30 442's. One I bought wrecked and then sold and one I had rebuilt the 455 ci. Roomy, torquey and more refined than the Chevelle. Such memories taking it to drive in movies. Thanks for sharing.
@@geoffm3031 U definitely got that rite 😎👍💪,they definitely had a hell of a lot of torque and my 1st old's Cutlass 442 that I bought from a very good friend in highschool back in the early 80's was my favorite beast me and my cousin did a lot of work to it and I took it to the Atco speedway in Atco new jersey and it ran very low 12's in the 1/4 mile and ever since then I was hooked on cuttlass's 💪❤️😎👍
Awesome to hear about your story with Oldsmobiles. Thanks for watching along!
What is your HP rating at the crank??
700hp and 645 lb/ft at the crank
@@TheOldsmobeast Kool..Mine is 600-HP..1970 442W-30 CONV LS SWAPPED
What a huge breakthrough! This is what you’ve been working towards. It’s great to see you and the olds out there :)
Aw thanks babe :) it’s been a long time coming!
I just got myself a 1970 cutlass 442 with a 350 rocket, and i had no idea where to start on what i wanted to do first to it after watching your channel i do now. Thank you!!🫡
Congrats on getting an awesome car! Thanks for watching along
that engine bay is a work of art
Thank you!
This is the one I've been waiting for! That trans might be a pryk to dial in but what a unit. Car absolutely gets down for what it is.
Haha appreciate it! Slowly getting the new setup dialed in. Its already showing alot of promise
Good stuff Pat!
Thanks Aaron! Hopefully I’ll catch you at a few events next year
Such a pleasure filming this and riding with you. It's amazing how well that car handles
Thanks dude! Always a pleasure seeing you. Awesome job on the footage!
Way too many curves for the beast, I had 71 442 back in the early 80's and me and my cousin did a lot of work to it and I took it to the atco speedway in Atco new jersey and it ran low 12's in the 1/4 and I absolutely loved it and ever since then I was hooked on cuttlass's, they were very powerful machines and had a great body style and I am not a fan of technology especially with cars, it really frustrates me very much 😠, but I definitely like what you have done to the beast 💪😎👍, enjoy your master piece 😎👍
Same issue I got with my impala for autocrossing and what not with the triangulated 4 link and live axle, have to go super soft rear to be able to put any power down, but the suspension transition side to side during slaloms isn't the greatest because of that. My front is fairly primitive with a #750 spring and a crown vic bilstein, I'd like to go even stiffer up front but not sure if there are any off the shelf options for it, plus I don't know compromised the ride is going to be with a super soft rear and a super stiff front setup.
Its definitely a tricky balancing act! The A052 tires have good forward bite so that helps a bit. The car feels really good with the rear bar detached, however this is a relatively smooth surface, so you don't suffer too much from the stiffer spring rates. I would look into adjustable dampers for your car, that would help out, especially at the rear. You don't want to stagger the roll stiffness too much front to rear, or it will cause a car that is brutal to drive. Feel free to shoot me a message on our business "contact us" page, and i'm happy to talk setup with you!
Nice car. Im working on the same car. Full restoration. $$$$
Thank you for the kind words, and good luck with your project!
Thanks for sharing this video with me, I absolutely loved the Oldsmobile cutlass and 442 , they were very powerful machines and had a great body style and were reliable and very very friggin fast,, I owned a lot of cutlass's when I was younger and I loved all of them very much and I wish that I would have kept at least 1of them.
How do you like the trans controller with the DCT? Looking in the same direction for my dime.
Its good! We’re finally getting everything sorted and dialed in, and now are very happy. I’ll be releasing some testing footage soon!
Damn that looks expensive!!!
Sounds like a beast
Bud please show the car driving and shifting. I really want to see the dct function behind the LS and the car body roll etc. Will do wonders for the views as well
There are a few clips of it driving in this video, and we’ll have more coming soon!
Are you taking it to the Olds Car Show this Sunday?
I would have liked to, but unfortunately I’ll be busy that day!
dude wheres the 3rd person view from the sidelines!!! that was the money shot
I have some posted on instagram and facebook, unfortunately not too much footage from outside the car at the moment. That should change very soon though!
Inherited a 69 olds from my late father this spring. Have really enjoyed your vlogs since then. He has 455 with dual quads. It’s been fun learning. Thank you!
Sounds like a very cool ride. Thanks for following along!
make a video on more details of that front suspension setup!
That’s the plan!
I owned a 71 cutlass 442 when I was a lot younger and me and my cousin did a lot of work to it and I took it to the Atco speedway in Atco new jersey and it ran low 12's and ever since then I was hooked on cuttlass's,they were very powerful machines and had a great body style and were very reliable and very friggin fast and I loved all of them that I owned from 1968 to 1976 and thanks for bringing back my favorite memories 😎👍, and I didn't have any fuel injectors or any nitrous for my old's because I didn't want it to catch on fire.
That’s great! Thanks for watching
Looks good my 442 GT build is finally back home from the body shop should be hitting the streets next month
Sweet, can’t wait to see the finished product!
