Eye On News is the Photography Team for Sterling IL Fire Department and Rock Falls IL Fire Department. We are a Father and Daughter Team who have been given permission by both of these departments and other surrounding volunteer departments to capture the job that these departments do.
STRUCTURE FIRE: 1st Avenue, Sterling IL 6/26/24
Sterling Fire and Rock Falls Fire Departments were called to the 1500 block of First Avenue in Sterling for a reported structure fire. MABAS was called for station coverage and man power on scene. Multiple cities assisted in this call.

Cimco Recycling had a large outside fire. Sterling called a MABAS to multiple alarms for manpower and tankers.

Rock Falls Fire Department and Sterling Fire Department were dispatched to rural Rock Falls today for a barn fire. MABAS was called to the second alarm for tankers, man power and station coverage. The windy conditions today made this battle a challenging one, but all departments did an amazing job at bringing this under control and protecting surrounding properties and buildings.

This morning, Coleta and Milledgeville Fire Departments were dispatched to a barn fire. MABAS was called to assist with man power and water supply.

A build up of lint in your dryer's vent system can cause a fire if it is allowed to build up over time. It took less than 15 minutes to clean out this dryer's vent both inside the dryer and the vent outside.

On Friday, December 15th, Sterling Fire Department and Sterling Police Department met in front of the Sterling Wal-Mart for a Battle of the Badges. The goal, who can raise the most money for The Salvation Army. Congratulations to Sterling Fire for winning this year's battle.

Props to the heavy equipment operators, plucking hunks of burning material and spreading it out for extinguishment.
To a farmer or landowner, a barn is a big deal. It can contain anything and everything; animals, fodder, incredibly expensive machinery. This one also destroyed the mobile home.
That's why you got too use the foam
rural departments, not a huge inventory of foam generation, compared to larger cities, who use such more routinely.
Someone needs to step down let the professionals handle this job
That is the kinda fire just burns for days...and days....and then relights, etc. So much fuel in there

The fire was caused by someone who works at “la Esmeralda” they were burning weeds close to the building to get rid of them. Not a bright move.
more than 1 structure on fire at the same time was this a controlled burn for the firemen to practice on
No this was not a controlled burn. Fire in one building caught other structures on fire.
No unit with a master stream?
OMG, my daughter's sister was in that building!
Was wondering when I would see this. Me and my cousin were the first on scene, upon arrival the electrical box on the side of the house was throwing sparks every wich way. We kicked in the door to make and started to yell as loud as possible into the house to check that no one was home. Luckily no one was. About 6 minutes into the fire the home owner had arrived and was in complete hysterics, because. He had informed us he had pets. As to my knowledge the animals are all ok and nobody was injured at all. But the house only took about 15 minutes to completely burn down. Realized that day house fires are NOT a joke.
