Joan was never afraid to “go there” about anyone, or even herself. Her self deprecating humor was a huge part of her act, and her legacy. As a gay man, she’s my favorite gay icon! She was ballsy, sometimes a bit brash but always funny! One reason I love her so much is, she said that life is hard and if you can take the worst thing that’s ever happened to you and laugh at it, or with it… you make it a little easier, you take a little bit of that pain away! Such a legend, an icon, a queen, a pioneer, a bonafide bad ass!
