Sigmund The Cave Dweller, traditional illustration watercolour.
Herein lies the tale of Sigmund the cave dweller.
He was a noble little creature of modest beginnings.
His nobility did not stem from this realm.
Rather, it was a gift of the gods - nobility of spirit.
Despite coming from a Aristocratic family, he rejected the notion that he was better than anyone else, for all that knew him agreed as to his jovial and straightforward character - benevolence being one of his chief virtues.
His ability to perceive the goodness in all knew no bounds.
To the end of his days, everyone he met was “an excellent, honourable, good fellow”. Perhaps ‘illusioned’ by his rosy views of human nature,
such was the fate given him by the celestial spheres.

Swatching 12 Windsor & Newton Watercolour paints
มุมมอง 3643 หลายเดือนก่อน
These are the only 12 watercolor paint colors that I've owned in the last 4 years. There wasn't really any reasoning behind why I chose these colors; they were mostly picked on a whim by my uneducated mood while standing in front of the paint rack at the art supply store. I hope this video is somewhat enjoyable. I'm not sure if it is helpful or even pleasant to watch, as it is quite different f...

Grimms' Fairy Tale Watercolour ✥ Star Taler + rambling vlog
มุมมอง 6K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was great practice for painting a night time scene, I really loved using masking fluid along the edge of the tree to create a glowing effect of the moonlight shining down from behind. I cant wait to use that technique again. I was inspired by Chris Dunn for that particular technique, he has a few instagram videos showing how he does it. If you have any questions please ask in the comments....
Folded paper card game Vintage Watercolour & calligraphy (sort of)
มุมมอง 3314 หลายเดือนก่อน
I made this nostalgic paper card game for a friend's birthday. I recall making these as a child with friends; it was always such fun. In Europe, particularly during the Victorian era (1837-1901), paper crafts and games became popular. Children and young adults often made their own toys and games from paper, including folded paper fortune-telling devices. These were often used at social gatherin...

Hello lovelies, I adore this bunny; her name is Isabelle. Though she may be little, she is deeply protective of her loved ones. I did not succeed in painting her a pair of wings that I like; perhaps I will get back to that one day after practicing more. I hope you enjoy meeting little Isabelle. How to mix muted Watercolours
มุมมอง 2.5K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I show you a simple way to mix muted watercolours. Muted Watercolour palettes are great for antique or vintage style paintings, or for any one that prefers softer colours. I hope you enjoy it. Its a bit different to my other videos but I get asked this question constantly, so hopefully it is helpful.

I found it fascinating to learn that Hadwig is a girl and named after Saint Hadwig, the patron Saint of orphans. Given that Harry Potter is an orphan, I find this so sweet that he has Hadwig to look over him. I hope you enjoy it :) I apologise in advance if my breathing is loud...the camera is right next to my face and picks up all the noises I make - I hold my breath when trying to get fine de...

I love that the video was cinematic and aesthetic. But sad that the illustration didn't change much after the 35 minutes. I understand that's the art style, but the length of the video just for adding shadows wasn't satisfying for my adhd brain.
Absolutely beautiful artwork thank you for sharing 😊
@@deborahmeyers551 my pleasure, Deborah ☺️
Why are you whispering?
I’m not…quiet speaking people do exist…
This technique is "sought after" in the European Botanical Art! I'd like to paint this way!
I could watch you paint for hours. Your work is so beautiful…I love the muted colors. Thank you for sharing your method for making the muted colors🩶
It’s very normal in the watercolour community not to use black. Many artists will discourage it’s use, but personally I think everyone’s free to paint as they like. I personally do not use blacks in my paintings, I just mix it using whatever paints that are handy.
I love your handwriting 😊.
Regarding synthetic ultramarine, there are several (slightly) different versions of it. They all have the colour name PB29, but different paint names such French Ultramarine, Ultramarine Intense, Ultramarine Green Shade, etc to denote the different shades. Genuine ultramarine is now just called lapis lazuli to differentiate it from the synthetic version and hardly anyone uses the colour name PB29 to refer to the genuine crushed pigment. You’ll usually find the pigment listed as lapis lazuli or N/A. Both synthetic and genuine ultramarines are chemically identical.
Indanthrene Blue, correct! Well, at least how that’s how we all pronounce it 😂.
Your paint palette is beautiful. Is it handmade?
Just love your videos, beautiful art, surroundings and music ❤
Love this
What is that music, please? What album or artist?. I love your Utubes!
Ah so beautiful...just curious did u use any reference for this
@@celestiq-23 Hey, which part in particular?
I don’t think I used one particular reference image for this video but I had been studying Beatrix potter in that period, it is most likely influenced by her drawings.
So Beautiful!
Soooooo lovely!!!
I love your artwork with its use of muted colors. I believe this is the first time I have ever seen you. In the most respectful way possible, you are as beautiful as your art.
@@JCJustSayin thank you, that is very sweet of you.
Pretty❤
@@OpassHrahsel thank you 😊
I loved the message of sharing that you got through it, but I interpreted a different message as well. I think a big part of the story is A. God providing for us against all odds; the little girl could have kept what little she had, but she trusted God and He provided. And B. God uses our difficult circumstances for good; though losing her parents and dealing with poverty was horrible, had those things not happened to her she never would’ve been able to bless those other people.
@@smartfoxy8707 That is beautiful 🤍
Hello Cleo, who edits your videos please? Beautiful
@@jokesalamistudios hey :) I film and edit my own videos.
Very nice. What palette do you use? Porcelain?
I usually use old antique tea saucers
@@cleosamanthawhat a lovely idea!!!
Beautiful painting. I love this idea that in order to receive, we must first give. Imagine how different our world would be if that’s how we all felt and acted ❤
@@nancydavidson4899 I’ve been trying to find a quote that this reminded of. Hopefully I will soon :)
I found it :) ‘The good does not derive from the act itself but from the inner disposition which prompts the noble conduct: the wise and good man in his very action harvests the good not by what he does but by what he is.’ - Plotinus
@@cleosamantha Great quote and so relevant. Thanks for finding and posting it.
Wow
Hopefully a good wow 😅🙏
Thank you for sharing. Your voice is very soft and hard to hear through the background music. Although toward the end you did speak up so it was better
Oh no, thank you so much for bringing that to my attention. I wish I could edit it but I’ll make sure to check the volume levels on my next video 🤍❤️🩹
This is beautiful. Everything about it. ❤. The love of God. Oh to be like him….
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it 🤍
Beautiful.
Thank you! 🤍
Lovely🌹
Thanks 🤍🤍

Thank you! 😊
Just found you Cleo, and subscribed immediately, because your video is wonderful. Its charming with excellent visual effects, gorgeous music, uplifting content .... and most importantly, a healthy dose of pure magic! Your calligraphy is also great. I do hope you will decide to finish your painting and re-post as it contains the essence of the story, which our heavily materialistic world of today desperately needs. ❤
Thank you so much, this means to much to me. I’d love to do more of the lesser known Grimm tales, they have so much value in them.
Merci 🙏 Cleo pour vos vidéos si raffinées 🫠 et votre beau travail d’aquarelle ! Quel plaisir !!!
Merci ❤️🔥
Adorable 🐕🥰 quel est son nom ? What's her name ?
Thank you for your lovely thoughts and this wonderful painting 🥰
My pleasure 😊❤️🔥
What a magical painting and a lovely story! ✨
Oh, thank you Ellary! I was nervous to upload this one because I've never read a story or rambled about it but I'm comforted by your comment <3
Hey I saw your comment on the skillshare teach lab residency. I also just got invited to that! I'll check out more of your work
I don’t recall that :) where did I comment lol?
Lovely work.
Thank you :) I just subscribed to you too
I love your paintings what is the watercolour paint you use on this rose and the paint colour names please
Merci Cleo, votre travail et vos vidéos sont 🥰 !
hey! i like ur style! it's my kind of watercolourings...tfs
Thank you so much!
Do you have pre printed drawings , I can see a drawing already done on the paper , where do you get these please
I don’t, sorry. I drew the Jemima straight onto the paper. Using Beatrix potter as a reference
Maybe if you can’t film the next video you can film just the first part like you already did and then the finished product
That is a great idea. I’ll try and record it on one angle and if that doesn’t work I’ll do your suggestion :)
This is such a lovely idea, Cleo! I used to love making these folded games when I was little and it's always a good idea to remember how we got inspired with little things :) The lettering from the last picture is amazing! I agree with you that sometimes when you are filming something you focus more on getting the right angle and all about it, but maybe if you just leave the camera on, without changing the angle, recording you painting would be a good way? Your videos are always so inspiring and I would love to see more :) Thank you!
Thank you, Andrea ❤ that is a good idea, I’ll try and do that - put it on one angle and press record. I suppose with more practice I should get better at doing that.
Yes more videos please. Your artwork is beautiful!
Hi, I just signed up, there's a magical atmosphere, your works are fabulous, see you soon, thank you ♥
Thanks and welcome 🙏 🤍
Beautiful work and dog❤
Hi Cleo Do you know if you can buy this book in Australia or only from the Grootbos official site? It’s just gorgeous, as are your paintings. 🥰 Lyn 😊
I’m not entirely sure :) it was a gift and I’m not sure where it was purchased. Thanks so much, Lyn!
So inspirational, what a lovely way you have about you and your art. So thrilled to have discovered your videos. Thank you for sharing
Thank you, Darla! Glad to hear that
Even your TH-cam videos are art. They sometimes convey how I feel when I sit down to sketch and paint.
That is so lovely, thank you :)
I could watch and listen to this again and again… beautiful.
Aw, thank you 🙏
I have been learning to paint watercolor since the fall. You tube is my main teacher. Your technique is so delicate! You are very detailed in your drawings, and paint with very little paint. I really love your results! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much 😀
Dear Cleo- I was so happy to see that you posted another video! Yours are my very favourite 🌹 I’m hoping that you may be able to provide closed captioning on future videos, as I am deaf (almost) and your gentle voice is impossible for me to hear properly. If not, I’ll still enjoy and learn from each of your beautiful lessons. You have taught me so very much. Thank you! 💞
I’m so glad to hear that you enjoy them! I will add closed captioning when I get home from work today. I was meaning to remember to do that, I appreciate the reminder. ❤️🩹
